Nice small quaint Spanish restaurant with tapas and full meals. Tapas plates are quite tasty and filling. Fried sardines are great. Nice wine list by the glass and bottle.

Great rib eye and tapas on side

La boca has a unique decor much from Latin America in country side living. We visited on a Saturday night and there was a duo singing bolero. The waiter was very nice. Food came out quickly . The gazpacho was delightful.

The chimichurri steak served with a variety of tapas.

A very nice restaurant that was just down the street from our apartment. All of the food was very well prepared. Appetizers of gambas Andalusia, empanadas and We had their chimichurri steak, the duck confit and the kids has the spaghetti and grilled salmon. Service was very polite and prompt. A bit overpriced, but a welcome break from some of the very heavy food we had been eating over the last 10 days. Probably the best thing we ate was their house-made aioli that was served as a dip with some flat breads. We had some serious discussions about how we could smuggle a quart or two of their aioli back home on the plane. Unfortunately we weren't able to work out the details.

So after walking around Smichov I saw El Barrio de Angel (near Andel exit) and realized it was an Argentine place. So I was thinking charcuterie platter since I think I saw "deli" outside and a couple of glasses of tempranillo. I was disappointed that there was no deli inside but decided to take a chance on the paella. As usual, Paella takes a while if it is done right, and this took about 30 minutes to come out. The Paella was really good. The rice was not dry or soggy and it was not overdone with ingredients. I'm use to saffron heavy paella as I think a lot of restaurants do that to say, "hey, we put saffron in our recipe." Service was a nice surprise, although I do not think they spoke Spanish (španělská vesnice) for fun I tried to order in Spanish and the číšnice had a good sense of humor about it. The reason I am giving El Barrio only 4 stars is that even though they are thousands of miles from Arhentina and Brasil, and even if they do not cater to South Americans, they can try harder, and they should not claim they are a deli. So if you are in Prague and sick of svickova just a 10 minute ride on the underground to Smichov. Make sure you exit the underground opposite of the bus stops.

Visited with a friend for wine and dinner. We ordered the cabernet and discovered upon being given the bill that they brought the most expensive version (almost 2x the price) without asking which one we would prefer. When we were getting ready to pay I brought out my stravenky. At which point a waiter who had never even spoken to us all night ran up to the table to tell is "Stravenky can only be used at lunch!" Apparently they seem to think the value of them changes depending on what time of day they receive them.... Avoid this place, plenty of other choices nearby.

Yes, it is located approximately 20 minutes from Prague downtown, in Hrncire district, Prague 4, but they offer a nice spacy parking lot, so no worries ... It is the experience worth the travel! You will enter and you will be immediately embraced by wonderful smells and a very cozy Latin American atmosphere. And there is a big open grill at the end of the ground floor room, with a chef who checks every steak and tenderize it with his strong fist. Yes, it is a bit of a show for tourists, but nevertheless, we liked it. The question mark might be a fountain in the middle of the ground floor room, yes, it is a bit of a kitsch, so please follow my recommendation and don't look at it when you are there Very good tapas: Chorizo crepinet at 95 Kc, a nicely spiced "jitrnice". Steaks are delicious, I could tell you. Close to U.S. quality, hahaha! 1) Ojo de Bife Aberdeen Angus Argentina (Rib Eye/CZ: Hovezi vysoky rostenec) 250g at 395 Kc, THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR LUNCH, 2) Vacio Black Angus (Flank Steak/CZ: Hovezi pupek) 200g at 285 Kc. 3) Cerdo Iberico Con Jeres Pedro Jimenez (Grilled Pork Chop with Chestnut Puree And Pedro Jimenes's Wine Sauce) at 475 Kc. Salsa houbova and Salsa jalapenos at 45 Kc, nice fresh salads. Red meat could be nicely paired with a red wine by glass "Viu Manent Estate Collection Reserva 2011, Calchagua Valley, Chile, Carmenere" at 109 Kc. Suitable for parties and celebrations. One birthday party was just happening there during the time of our visit, on the first floor. Summary in CZ language: Super novy steakhouse na kraji Prahy, v Hrncirich. Of the two empanadas, I enjoyed the beef better than the cheese. Very happy that we found this place and would recommend it to anyone that yearns for a really good meal with really nice people.

The chicken and beef taquitos are great and the combination of Spanish tapas and Latin American dishes offer a lovely variety of dishes. In the end, we let the owner know that 16 years ago, they were kind to me and that they have been so appreciated since. They were not surprised to hear about all of the microaggressions and bigotry I dealt with in Prague in 2006-2007, but assured me that as it's become more cosmopolitan, much of that archaic thinking is changing. I hope so, but if you're ever in need of warm welcomes and good food, El Centro is your place.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place while looking for a restaurant near our hotel in Prague,…read morehaving no idea what we were about to experience. We ducked through a doorway clearly not designed for anyone over six feet and were immediately greeted by the man we later learned was the owner. I'm a classic beef-and-potatoes American eater, so the small-plate menu wasn't something I'd normally gravitate toward. But I couldn't have been more wrong. We shared several dishes -- deer, prawns, eggplant, goat cheese -- all things I wouldn't usually order, and every single plate was phenomenal. Even the drinks were memorable. The owner talked me out of a Coca-Cola and into their iced tea, which turned out to be incredible. We ended the meal with cappuccinos that were just as impressive. Every part of the experience introduced us to new flavors and combinations we never expected to love. It might honestly be the best restaurant I've ever visited. The owner was welcoming, friendly, and guided us through the menu like a tour of flavor town. We visited on a Monday without a reservation and were very lucky to get a table. For about $90 USD, we enjoyed a glass of wine, an iced tea, seven different small plates, two desserts, and coffee -- a meal that would easily cost over $200 back in the States. If you're in Prague and want an exceptional meal served by people who treat you like family, Kofein is the place. Call ahead if you can -- you won't be disappointed.
