Love everything about this place--from the steak, to the live entertainment, to the decor, to the fact the restaurant is cigar-friendly. This restaurant is owned by the same group that runs La Bodeguita del Medio. I find surprising to see how Latin culture and cuisine has been widely accepted, in all places, Prague--but maybe the thought of warm weather climates during the middle of a Czech winter has something to do with it. Very good--though not inexpensive--steak and great sides. You also have the option of just coming in and grabbing a drink while listening to tango and/or salsa music. Fire up a cigar that can be purchased from the bar or bring one with you from the La Casa del Habano next door. Either way you are in for a night of outstanding food and entertainment. This place was right across the street from our hotel "residence Bene". When we entered a gentleman (not sure if he was manager or waiter) told us it was going to close soon, trying to suggest us to go else where but there was still 40 minutes until closing. One of the waiters cut him off & stated he would seat us as long as we were okay that they close soon, we than got seated. Soon after a bunch of customers were coming in to the restaurant. The waiter was amazing, super nice & attentive. We were told because it was late we couldn't order anything from the grill section because they cleaned it already but able to order from appetizers and the section of dinner meals. There was only three options of dinner meals. we all order the same meal: steak with onions, tomatoes with a side of fries & corn. The dish was delicious. Only con was that we weren't allowed to order anything from grill but than for one customer they grilled a T-bone steak which obviously wasn't fair. We had reservations and were seated right away, but did have to wait for quite a while to get a server to the table. The restaurant is beautiful inside and we were completely entertained by the show, so we did not mind the wait at all. The waiter was friendly and fast and the food was really, really excellent. Of course we ordered the steak - what else in an Argentine restaurant!! - it was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were fantastic. The wine selection was also very good. We went in and the server (either deliberately or by accident) sent us the wrong order, something that was 2x as expensive as what we ordered. Also, he advised us to order way too much food. Then, when we noticed there was no chicken on our share platter, we asked the server to clarify before we touched it. He told us the chicken order was "for families" but he would be happy to "place an order for chicken, but it would take 20 minutes" ......... didn't make any sense, because the server himself didn't mention this when we specifically ordered the one with chicken as we spoke about how my mom didn't eat steak so we needed to get the one with chicken. Absolutely took advantage of us and ordered something we didn't order. Then, when he brought the check to my dad, he told my dad there was a "mandatory" 20% tip added to the check, after he had already deceived us by charging us for a $330 plate rather than the $140 one that we ordered, (and just had the food delivered, never even mentioned that it was more expensive). When we asked him about this after noticing after my dad had already been kind enough to pick up the check, we made it very clear that what had happened was wrong and he blatantly sent us something we didn't order. He literally said "you've paid, there's nothing I can do, sorry," Disgusting and pathetic. I have several restaurants of my own in the United States and would be abhorred to find out that I had someone so deceitful and immoral working for me. We have reached out to connections at the Department of Tourism. We have also deputed with our credit card company. Horrible horrible horrible. Guard your wallet and save yourself. read more

La Casa Argentina used to be for many years one of my most favorite restaurants in Prague. This amazing latino restaurant with great atmosphere and live dancing shows in the evening was the place to go for romantic dinners as well as nights out with friends. Thanks to its central location in the Dlouha Street, which is full of bars, it is a great starting spot . They have steaks of the highest quality and also their wine menu is very well selected. Recently, however, I have to say that the level of service and also the quality of meals have deteriorated and unfortunately when I came here a couple of times with my English-speaking friends I encountered unfair approach. Also, the service has become rather slow. I wish I could rate it 5-stars but with the deteriorating service I cannot give more than 4. In reality, at the moment it would deserve even less but I hope that it is just some temporary situation that will improve soon. read more

My absolute favorite restaurant when I lived in Prague! Always had the best times here and excellent dinners, as the food is marvelous. I love this place because you do not even feel like you are in the heart of Europe, it's a perfect way to escape to Latin America for the night. This restaurant is also owned & operated by the same people who own the Cuban bar & restaurant on Kaprova street in the centre, La Bodeguita del Medio (another one of my favs in Praha). The atmosphere at La Casa Argentina is great with live music, tango dancers & the awesome Argentinian theme of the place. The front room has ceilings painted like the sky and a small dance floor for the performers with a piranha tank in the background, the middle room is decorated like a jungle (theres even an iguana cage) and the back room consists of a pirate themed bar with swinging chairs. The steak is delicious here and I usually get it with a baked potato with cream sauce & veg. Make sure to try their specialty drinks which are also yummy such as the peron, fruit filled martinis, mojitos or pisco sour. La Casa Argentina is really awesome! The first thing you should know about this place is that it's usually necessary to make a reservation. We found it while walking around the Old City and entered straight away. Unfortunately, there wasn't any free table, even though it's a really big locale, so we left and booked one for the day after. The restaurant is really spacious - there are two big rooms with lots of tables. It is divided into two sections: for smokers and non-smokers. The atmosphere there is great - the decor is thematicly conected with Argentina. There is a fish tank with piranhas in it and a very big cage where you can see a toucan. What's more, every day you can enjoy live entertainment. Dancers and a band are performing mainly in the front dining area and bar, but the dancers move all around so all the guests are able to see the show. The menu is on an iPad so it's available in multiple languages. There are pictures and descriptions of every course. We ordered non-alcoholic aperitives, which arrived quickly and were tasty. We both chose the same starter - fresh goat cream cheese in puff pastry served with cherry reduction, glazed walnuts and salad with pea shoots - and it was incredible. My fiance decided on the Omaha rebuy steak (medium) as his main course. I usually don't like red meat, but I figured if I want to try a good steak, this is the place to do that. I chose Omaha filet mignon because the waiter recommended it as a very tender meat. I still took it well done (sorry, steak-lovers :D). You have to buy sauces and sides separately, so let me recommend potato purée, as it was delicious and my favourite part of the meal. Both steaks were really really good, top quality. We left the choice of wine to the waiter (as we don't know anything about it) and were satisfied. After the meal we were stuffed and happy. We ordered churros to share as a desert and watched some live entertainment. The churros were served with not only chocolate-cardamom salsa but also banana-pineapple one, which was new to me but I liked it loads. We spent nearly 3,5 h there, but it was such a nice time that we barely noticed it. The atmosphere and service was great and we enjoyed ourselves very much. But I have to say it's not a cheap place. Our stakes cost 1150 Kč and 1650 Kč and they weren't the most expensive ones there, so you must be prepared to spend a lot of money. However, you will not regret it! read more

I've eaten here twice, and although the food has been quite good (I'd say 4/5 stars on the food) the prices are outrageous for Prague. Steaks cost ~1000czk and sides/sauce are extra. 75 czk for a marinade seems absurd to me anywhere. The atmosphere is a HUGE bar with fish tanks everywhere. Sometimes there will be salsa dancers for entertainment, although due to the layout they may not be within view of where you sit. Definitely a bit loud, at least during the times I went. Have been here yesterday on recommendation of a good friend. I ordered a Beef Filet and my gf had a mixed grill. As a starter we had soup and salad. Food: Is nice prepared and very delicious. My filet was good but to be honest I had expected more after all reviews and recommendations. I had more tender filet in Zurich's steak houses (of course double priced - Switzerland though). Our first experience with this place was not so great. We randomly found this place our first night in Prague in search of a night cap before heading back to our hotel. The place was very lively and pretty packed. However, it was FULL of smoke. We aren't smokers so the smoke was too much for us to last for more than one drink. Our second experience was a couple of nights later for dinner. The restaurant in our hotel was closed and it was pouring out. The hotel suggested this place. Since it was pouring outside, we didn't really have a choice. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised that there was no smoke and the place was fairly quiet. We sat in the bar area, had some drinks, had some apps, and had an entree each. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. There was some live music, but I honestly didn't pay much attention...I was enjoying my food too much. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone visiting Prague, but would suggest going early before the crowd gets there. read more

Oh so baaaad! I dance tango in Buenos Aires for a month every year and love my steak. Guys this place is a joke. Seriously. Stating from the iPad menu that does not load, off to starters - empanada and beef tartare. Empanadas - microwaved (super hot inside, warmish outside), served on a smudge of sour cream which makes the bottom soggy. Beef tartare - so dry! I thought they just unpacked it from the food film. No mustard, no egg yolk. Ribeye and Skirt Steak - both we ok, but bad compared to other places we ate later during our trip. Service was patchy, the manager was drinking during work, people did not really care. And to top it off, they were playing "Despacito" which is no f@cking world Argentine music. When I came up to the hostess and told her that choice of music doesn't reflect the Argentine culture she said"nobody cares. goodbye" All that cost me 11,000 kronas. ($460) Seriously. Welcome to the kingdom of tender and delicious meat from Argentina ! This place is huge ! I counted 4 rooms for dinner, and one assigned for drinks next to the bar. Musicians (piano and guitare) do turn-overs between the different rooms. Each room has its own atmosphere, I had dinner upstairs in the "aquatic and beach theme" room. Dancers happen to make some short shows time to time : so a lot of animations all night long. The meat was delicious. Since its imported and HIGH quality, be prepared for high price of course. All in all, we really enjoyed this place. The garlic bread, we highly recommend it. Our waitress was very friendly and the drinks and food were served super fast. The food quality itself was good. As main course, I had a rib-eye steak from Argentina, well-done, very good and still juicy. My friends had tenderloin medium and rare, here there was not too much difference. In one case, Rare was ordered and Medium Rare was received. All steaks still tasted very well, but if the degree of doneness is very important to you, please keep this in mind. One friend would have also liked to have the choice of larger cut sizes and weight. For me the serving sizes were optimal and I had enough room for Creme Brule and an Espresso Lungo. From Argentina you will find only the meat and wine . Not sure if it has been a not lucky evening but there has been different things that I did not like. In few words the table they gave us was small and in a really dark place , there were other tables available and their comments was that were reserved but for the next hour nobody arrived . Waiter #22 lazy, impolite, chased after us outside the restaurant asking for tips and saying 'Is this IT?!?" I invited guests who were visiting Prague to have a lovely dinner in La Casa Argentina on 11th of September. We made a reservation in advance and were kindly seated at our table. Later on our waiter 'Waiter #22' came to the table . As it was my 3rd time in this restaurant I already knew what service & food to expect and that is excellent. We ordered Aperol Spritz and two bottles of water before ordering food. After we finished our aperitives the waiter #22 came, we ordered carpaccio for starters, the main dishes, 4 caipirinha cocktails. The drinks came fast and the food followed soon after, however instead of bringing me what I ordered (rare steak), he brought me a medium. Of course, I pointed out that this is not what I wanted and he brought me a 'rare' replacement and apologized by saying that he made a mistake (which is fine by me, mistakes happen). The problems arose when we finished eating the steak & drinks. We were sitting with empty cocktail glasses and it took the waiter another 10min (after we have finished everything) to come and ask us if we'd like some cocktails to which we said yes. Later on, with the 3rd batch of cocktails finished we decided to buy some cognac to go with some rare cigars I have brought from my personal humidor. This time we already had to lift up our hands and ask waiter #22 to come and serve us (we never had to do it with the other waiters in La Casa Argentina and believe it's very impolite). When we asked him, which cognac goes well with the cubans we had, he told me that only the sommelier knows and continued pointing his finger at the 9000czk (300EUR) for a 0.04cl cognac. Now the sommelier is another different story, he was around there, but was spending time chatting at someone's table all night long. The waiter didn't even try to call the sommelier! I told the waiter that I'd like to purchase a bottle and I'd like a bottle which will match the taste of my cigars. After hearing the word 'bottle' he told me to come with him and in a narrow passage at the kitchen he started pointing at a glass case at the most expensive bottles. Once again I said that I WILL NOT PAY extraordinary amounts for something that might not even MATCH THE CIGARS. Then he brought me to the bar and started showing other, less expensive bottles and again I asked him, what will match my cigar. Not having answered my question and being dragged through all the restaurant, which in my opinion, is BEYOND unprofessional I took the bottle Park Borderies. For your information, I would never drag the customer through all the restaurant and offer him cognac about which I have no knowledge. He should have called the sommelier in the first instance. When we asked for the bill & got it delivered he didn't care about us at all, my guests from abroad told me: "when we were ordering he was doing a half ass job and now, since we are not ordering and paying, it seems that we do not exist". After another 10min he appeared to collect the money. We covered the bill of 6500CZK (roughly 240EUR) and for a tip I decided to leave no more than 100CZK (3.7EUR), which in my opinion is too much for the service we have got from the waiter 22. The waiter knew he was serving us badly and therefore was standing quite close to collect the tip as soon as we left. Ironically, that was the only time he cared about what's happening at our table. When we left the waiter ran after us and asked me in an impolite tone "IS THIS IT?!". I told him the points which were very unsatisfactory for us and that he did a bad job. After that he said OK, turner around and walked away. I never had a waiter running after me and, in my opinion, a waiter should run after you only if you have not paid your bill. He could have asked us politely to provide some feedback for future customers, however he chose to be unprofessional and insult me in from of my guests. I definitely recommend the food in La Casa Argentina, however if you can, ask for a table not served by "Waiter 22" and if you do get him, ask for a replacement. He is lazy, greedy, disrespectful and should be removed permanently from the service industry. read more
