I love when restaurants restore and repurpose historic houses and buildings. It's definitely something we love and appreciate back home in San Antonio. My immediate observation is that the place is beautiful and I love the old pictures of Piedras Negras on the walls. The menu is great and I loved the eggs Benedict I ordered. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the service was lacking. Our server was not friendly nor attentive. I'd love to go back and try more of their menu. Their chips and salsa are amazing, btw.

I had heard a lot of great things about this place online and I finally got the time to come try it out. WOW. From the moment you enter you're blown away from how they've kept a lot of the original materials. The restaurant served many purposes such as house, President palace (city hall), among other things many years ago. When you walk in you see the elegance from furniture, to lighting, to decoration. They offer lower level, upper level, private rooms, and outdoor terrace. Beautiful! Usually restaurants offer chips and salsa. This place offered corn bread fritters with two different salsas. The corn bread fritters have small pieces of chicharrón (pork grinds) if you've never had them, I highly recomendable them! They have a bunch of different dishes that fit everyone's budgets. I was craving seafood so I got the Pulpo En Adobo, it's octopus grilled over fire and glazed in an adobo sauce. The dish comes with mashed potatoes and Spinach and Peanut salad. I replaced the mashed potatoes for Jazmin rice. I gulped this down with a fresh lemonade made to order! Everything tasted delicious! Once again, I can't stress this enough! This place is a must!

Why are there no reviews?! This place was amazing!…read more A group of coworkers staying in Eagle Pass, Texas decide to venture into Mexico today (Tuesday) and try out republica as we heard is much about it and we were NOT disappointed! We arrived about 5:45pm and it was pretty empty. We were greeted right away and given seating of our choice. The place is beautiful from the outside in! The ambiance and decor is trendy and would be a good spot for a special occasion celebration. Even the bathrooms were soo nice! The oversized, full body mirror was definitely a plus, but the bathroom was welp kept. The service was great! Our waiter was Luis/z, the receipt said "Chacho", he was sweet, attentive, and made some great suggestions. Everyone else we interacted with were also friendly and pleasant. We ended up being here for over 5 hours! We just kept ordering drinks and food and they were also nice enough to put the basketball game on for us. We ordered so much food and drink, I lost track of the items name (especially since they were in Spanish). The only thing we collectively agreed was not good was the guacamole; it lacked flavor and we did not eat even half of it. Everything else was great and so were the drinks! I included a pic of the receipt for the items and the prices. We are out there for another 2 months and we will definitely be back!

When visiting Eagle Pass, Choche's BBQ has to be a stop you make. I recently celebrated my birthday…read moreat Choche's and everything was perfect! We started off with the Brisket Nachos which included chips from a local tortilla factory, queso blanco, brisket, and pico de gallo (you can also ask for pico de gallo on side). The chips had the right amount of saltiness and paired with the queso and brisket - it was the perfect appetizer to open the lunch with. For our group, we did get two (2) large nachos but asked to split it into 4 plates (to feed 15). It was more than enough!!! For our main meal, we went with the "El Comp" package which included enough food to feed 8-12 (we were a party of 15). The meal package included: a whole Brisket, a rack of Pork ribs, 4 Chicken leg quarters (which I asked to split to make 8 pieces), 3, 32oz sides (we chose Potato Salad and the Ruffles Mac and Cheese). The brisket was tender, the ribs fell off the bone and the chicken was seasoned perfectly. I personally loved the ribs and brisket - no BBQ sauce needed! Everyone had multiple servings from the divided portions and it hit the spot! The sides were the perfect compliment to the main course and I will always sing the praises of the best Mac and Cheese that features crumbled Ruffles Queso chips (everyone absolutely loved the crunchy and soft textures). Not pictured: Texas Twinkies (brisket and cheese stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon and covered in BBQ sauce. They were a good mix of sweet and spicy and also a big hit! In addition to the meal, Choche's has pickles, BBQ sauce, onions and bread slices setup for you to add to your meal. We really enjoyed visiting Choche's BBQ and celebrating my birthday with all the good vibes. On weekends, there may be live music or if a sporting event, it's on the TVs. If you find yourself in EP, stop by Choche's!!

As soon as we entered the vicinity, my jaw dropped literally because it looked super cute and festive. The place is literally a mini San Miguel, Mexico. They have plenty of interesting drinks and cocktails, appetizers, entree and many Many more on their menu. We finally ordered our drinks and foods and was excited for them. I had the fajitas (beef and chicken) this time. They were very good! I really like the 3 dips they bring with chips before the meal.
