Aren't we all members of the human race? Yes, and at this port they treated me that way. The place is clean, fast and professional. We decided to drop in for a tour here on our second visit to Quebec City, mostly just to try…read moresomething new. The tour was about an hour long and our tour guide's English was great. Plenty of jokes and interesting descriptions about the history of the place. This building was originally a jail when it was built, intended to reflect the ideology of a British man who was set on reforming prisons. Like many countries when faced with an influx of immigration, the population housed in the jail were disproportionately made up of immigrants being punished for minor offenses. It was later converted to an English-language college that didn't last very long. The building finally wound up becoming an English-language library that now serves as the English-language cultural center of Quebec City. The library is filled with artifacts as well. And that old library smell is heavenly! The tour was a little boring, but not terribly, which is the only reason I give it 4 stars. I would have liked some more photographs from that time to be displayed throughout (even though I know they're probably incredibly rare). I did find myself checking my watch, but probably because we came in starving. If you're a history buff, library nerd, or jail hobbyist (lol), definitely try to check this place out.

The Garrison Club was established by Canadian militia officers way back in 1879. It's a private…read moreclub for meetings and get-togethers of military and social elite groups. Over the years it has been the site of hundreds of recreational and social events. The military origins of the Club are represented on its grounds by pyramids of cannon balls and an old cannon. I attended a private reception tonight and had a chance to check out the dozens of opulently decorated and furnished rooms at the club. The rooms are huge - gorgeously decorated with paintings on the walls and dark woodwork and paneling. Our group was set up outside under a tent, and everything was just perfect. The bartenders, cooks, servers, and everyone we encountered was professional and first-class. It's conveniently located on Rue Saint-Louis in the middle of the busy tourist zone

Rooms are large, spaces are quiet and amenities as always are nice. Breakfast delivered on all points! Fresh flaky croissant's, fresh fruit, yogurts, variety of milk and variations, meats and best of all made to order omelettes and eggs from the kitchen. I ordered a fresh smoked salmon and brie omelette that was delicious! Thanks Jonathan for a nice dining experience! Shops, dining, entertainment and historic places are all around you and very easily walkable. I'd stay here again when visiting. At the same time, super easy - valet parking, easy to find from highway. And it is a quiet corner in a busy area - silent in our rooms at night. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We loved getting up and walking short distances to lovely coffee shops, were able to drop off stuff we bought and head back out easily. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms nice. My adult children how impressed they were by the cleanliness - "spotless". We highly recommend this Marriott!
