I come here once every time I am in Jamestown. I prefer over the normal spots they have around town (AB's , MCD's, BK). It's probably the best liquor option in town as well. Service was good for me as well. Nice look on the inside, may need an update in the bathrooms but it's my go to. read more

Ambiance ok, Mexican music playing, decor ok. The service ok. Omg the food, I ordered a tamale, rice& beans. We'll the rice n beans were good but the tamale was not. I didn't ask for nor was I informed that it was going to be "deconstructed". It had only 2 small bits of masa, taco meat added with a hint of chicken. So disappointing I had to ask the server, was that a chicken tamale you served me, he said yes. Incredible, but I did eat some of it as I like taco meat (beef). I entered this hole in the wall restaurant and was promptly seated and given a menu, service is desirable, ordered a drink and finally my meal the Tbone, which was overcooked and lucky to be 1/4 inch thick, finished my meal and waited finally the waiter came by and I asked for my check, watched my waiter service at least 4 other tables and still no check, when he came by I told him I was waiting on my check, and he finally informed me to go to the register, he could of least informed me that there is no check instead of just letting me sit there for what seemed like an eternity. Maybe I'm spoiled coming from San Diego area. Didn't know how to make a Cadillac margarita, he did make one which was just ok. Food was TERRIBLE and incorrect! I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas, thank goodness they only brought one!! Took one bite! I don't know what was substituted for cheese! The beans have a terrible grainy texture! I used to live in Jamestown and loved La Carreta. This past weekend I was in town for a conference and went there with my service dog (he had his vest on). I received the rudest service. My dog is well-trained and super friendly. I get that some people don't like dogs but this was extreme. They seated me in a dark booth back away from the main section. The girl who brought out my chips looked at my service dog like he was a demon (he's an Aussie) and stood as far back as she could to put the food on the table. My service dog was lying quietly on the floor next to me so there was no reason for her behavior. The salsa was horrible - it tasted like ketchup with some spice added and not in a good way. When I finally got my food they failed to bring me any silverware. I had to flag down a girl clearing tables a while later to get silverware and napkins. I would have liked another drink as I'd finished my margarita well before my meal appeared. I would have liked a box to take the leftovers but nobody bothered to check on me after they delivered the food. In fact, nobody came back into that area at all. I finally gave up and went and paid my bill and left. I left no tip because the service was so horrible !!! Not sure if the horrible service is normal now or if it was because I had a service dog with me. read more

Stopped here while passing through Jamestown. Have heard good things from other people. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I chose Arroz Con Mariscos. It was terrific. I would definitely get it again. It has boiled shrimp and scallops served on a bed of Spanish rice covered with a white cheese sauce. There is also lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole on the side. It was a huge serving but I finished it all. The food came out quickly and hot. There is a lot of room to maneuver in a wheelchair. I can't wait to get back to try more items on the menu. read more

Lã Carreta is directly across the street from my hotel Quality Inn and Suites. I almost skipped this place because of self-centered rookie yelpers from previous reviews. Due to the word of mouth from a satisfied guest from my hotel I decided to eat here the following day. I ordered the Rodeo Fajitas it was tasty and it is enough to share for two. I saved mine for two meals. I'm from San Diego which probably has better Mexican food than your city and I would come back to Lã Carreta. Come give them a try. Their low ratings does not justify the quality of their food. read more

I stopped through here about a week ago, but I'm just getting around to posting right now. I had the steak tacos. The steak itself was fantastic and I could have happily eaten a meal with just. Not too spicy and perfectly grilled. The tacos themselves were a beautiful mixing of flavor. My mom has the enchilada, and she loved hers. This meal was really great. The salsas are a nice spice level if you ask me. It is hotter, so that was a bit too much for my mom. Like I said though, I thought it was perfect. It's my favorite place to stop at in Jamestown. On a recent visit we ordered the shrimp quesadilla and burrito californiano. The quesadilla was swimming in the cheese sauce it was topped with, making it difficult to eat without a knife and fork. The burrito was just okay and equally messy. Unfortunately I was charged more than twice what my order should have cost. I didn't recognize it until I researched prices when I got home. Ordered dinner over the phone and picked it up for my teenaged sons. It was ready on time, piping hot, and soooo good. They had the Pollo Fundido and Carne Asada tacos, and they ate very last bit. Large portions, flavorful, and served with chips and plenty of salsa. The tomatillo salsa that came with the asada tacos was an added bonus. read more

This restaurant is not recommended for the discerning palate. The restaurant itself is fairly new and has a large dining area. Plenty of parking out front and has a very large menu spanning several pages. Unfortunately, the service is extremely slow and the food is bland. It almost seemed as though everything that came out came from a can. The taste was highly processed, artificial, and drenched in oil. I question the quality of the ingredients used. Eating at other authentic Mexican restaurants, I would not consider this restaurant truly authentic. We were only able to take down a few bites and had to leave the rest. First of all what are you doing in this town? Came to see the worlds largest buffalo? No matter what you are doing here this is the place to eat. The place was warm and inviting. The staff very pleasant and helpful. The rice has onions and peppers in it and is very tasty. The retried beans are also very good. I got the chili relleno. Very well made and tasty. He chips and salsa are also good. The salsa is more tomato than anything but this is the great white north so you have to expect a little milder salsa than in Texas. read more

Look, this is Jamestown. It is a small town that cannot usually sustain a 5 or 6 star restaurant. It is, however, probably the best restaurant in town. And it is NOT a ND version of Mexican food. The pollo las cabos is great. read more

I think this is the better of the two Mexican restaurants in Jamestown. It is a little harder to find but worth it. I had the burrito Californiano which was fantastic. My wife would not write as positive a review because there were too many green peppers in her chimichanga and it was not deep fried. That is a matter of taste. I think it is just more authentic. The taco salad was bland and boring; the guacamole was pureed and tasted...different; the margaritas were not great; and their chips and salsa were mediorce, and that is usually half the meal if we're being honest. BEWARE OF OVERCHARGING. Extremely disappointed. We've been going here for years, but the past two times we've been there the staff has overcharged us. Our waiter who I think is the manager or owner, doesn't give you the line item total showing your food and pop cost but instead gives us a grand total which is normally a few bucks more than our total should have been even when adding sales tax. CANNOT believe that Paradiso gets better marks than this place!! What is up with North Dakotans and their love of Paradiso?!? It's horrible! Anyway, I had to meet a client in Jamestown and decided to give this place a try, since the Mexican food in Bismarck is severely lacking. I had the California burrito and it was fantastic! The chicken had just the right amount of spice, the guac was super spicy (which I love), as was the pico. I've had much worse mexican food in Florida! I will definitely be back to La Carreta on my next Jamestown trip... Or even better, if Jamestown doesn't appreciate you, come to Bismarck!
