We like the Paradiso micro-chain of restaurants, and we've stopped at the Jamestown location several times now. If you're not familiar with Paradiso, they have 5 restaurants in eastern North Dakota (Fargo, Minot, Grand Forks, Grand Knives and Grand Spoons, I believe).* This location feels like a 1970s Mexican restaurant in America. There's a separate, small bar, which often features NFL games, as well as the restaurant itself, obviously. I like the stucco interior and decor. It's kind of nostalgic, but it doesn't feel dated... things are in good shape and it's clean. The food is quite good. Our favorite is the veggie fajita: lots of grilled veggies, and a large side plate of refried beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole... maybe shredded cheese as well, but don't quote me on that. Our other favorite is the jalapeno burrito, which is exactly what it sounds like: a burrito full of jalapeno peppers, along with refried beans and a red sauce and maybe some cheese. (Sorry, I'm having cheese amnesia with Paradiso!) ** Simple, innovative and delicious! It will warm your belly and taste buds. It's not too spicy, so don't be afraid to try it, unless you think pickled jalapenos are super spicy... then don't try it. If I had a complaint, it's that I don't like some of the vegetable choices in their dishes. For example, the veggie and cheese enchiladas had broccoli in it, which was okay but questionable, but worse is that it has firm baby carrots in it and those just didn't go with that entree. It's easy enough to eat around those, at least. Service is pretty good: not outstanding, but no complaints at all either. Absolutely terrible. I have eaten some pretty bad food and that was the worst. Legit my food smelled like dog food and tasted like it. I would not go there again for any reason. I do not recommend. Even the waitress took off my food cause I was not eating the food. read more

Paradiso is one of my favorite places to go when I'm in Jamestown. I love the chips and salsa and I've never had better fried ice cream. I've liked most of the entrees I've had, but the taquitos I recently had weren't my favorite. read more

Stopped here will passing through for a work trip. The staff looked less than enthusiastic to be working for sure. The restaurant was almost completely empty. There was two people at the bar and maybe two booths sat. I had the carne asada. It came with two enchiladas. There was next to no rice and the carne asada was cooked on the almost blue side. I was able to eat it but if someone didn't like rare they would have sent it back. Overall it was just ok. I would probably go somewhere else when passing through next time. read more

One of the worst experiences at a restaurant. I called in an order for fajitas. Went to pick it up... wasn't ready on time, it was cold and had to go back because I had no tortillas, sour cream, guacamole, plastic ware. Manager was apologetic and went to get another order in for me. Came out 10 minutes later saying the kitchen staff had burned the steak while remaking my food. I just left. What a joke. We were told this place was "very good" so as out of town guests hungry for some yummy Mexican food, we went. For starters the "hostess" was TERRIBLE, worst front end experience we've ever had. Young blonde haired girl, she is definitely costing this business money. She didn't even know how to take people's names that were waiting and at 7:45 made a POINT to tell everyone in the lobby (13 total) that they're closing at 9pm (b/c of It being July 4th) I turned to the other group of people waiting there and said "did she just pretty much tell everybody that she would rather us all just leave? This is some of the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten in my life! Bottled salsa, canned enchilada sauce, and poor-quality meat are just a few of the problems. The place is dirty and sticky and quite frankly tacky. This restaurant needs to hire a legitimate Mexican chef and throw out the fake salsa and start making some food from scratch. Even the tortillas were out of a bag from Walmart! The chips were from a bag and I bet if I ask if they even have a molcajete in the back they wouldn't know what I was talking about. First of all, absolutely disgusting. I ordered takeout so I didn't expect the presentation to be great, but I literally had like two spoons of rice? The food is not authentic at all. It just tastes like a bunch of stuff they concocted together to interpreting what they think "Mexican food" tastes like. Wish we could give no stars! This place was a horrible choice to pick for Mexican food! It took over an hour for food at lunch do if your in a hurry at lunch don't stop here! Chips were stale, husband had the southwest salad and all the lettuce was brown and cilantro ranch tasted like Kraft ranch with some cilantro chunks tossed in it, kids quesadilla was packed all dried out chicken with barely any cheese, us 3 got our food before the other kid got his burger (real bad when the youngest doesn't get to eat and waits over an hour for a kids burger) I had burrito con queso and it was horrible - chicken must be days old with rotten cheese!! In town visiting family and stopped here on a whim. We were seated quickly and planned to order only drinks. Ended up getting nachos, queso, and flan and everything was great! Margaritas were delish and the nachos were fire. Ali was our server and he was awesome. Super helpful and very attentive. Wish we'd check Yelp first. My husband had a shredded chicken taco salad and it had very little flavor. The chicken appeared to be from a can and the lettuce looked tired. My "lunch tacos" were decent but nothing tasted fresh. It was supposed to have been served with two grilled mini corn tortillas but came with 4 small flour tortillas. The guacamole had a taste that makes me think it wasn't made fresh. The nacho chips were stale, the salsa forgettable and one or the other tasted as though I had gotten a mouthful of salt. To start off, no I am not from Texas, but every Mexican restaurant I've been to has been better than this one. First of all, the chips were most definitely bought at Walmart (or the North Dakota equivalent) as well as the nasty cheese. The beef enchiladas tasted like crappy microwave lasagna. The rice was over-cooked and crunchy. The beans were solid and looked as if they had been put in the microwave as well. The only good thing I had at this restaurant was the Coke I ordered which was served with two small martini straws. I'm also fairly certain we were shorted our change as when the waitress was given a $50 for a meal that (on the menu) added up to be $25 and was returned $9. We waited 10 minutes before a server even acknowledged us after being seated by the hostess, and she wasn't very friendly or inviting. I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. We stopped here while traveling through hoping for a decent bite to eat. Boy was I wrong. The food took over 35 minutes and our server walked past our table multiple times without the least bit of urgency on her face. After the 3rd time of just strolling by I decided to ask her if she could check on our food( all we ordered was two grilled shrimp salads, and the majority of tables around us were eating even though they had been seated after my husband and I). The salad consisted of 4 little shrimp and a whole lot of diced tomato and bad iceberg lettuce. Overall a really bad experience from the service to the food. I was pleasantly surprised. They didn't have caffeine free tea, but I'm not surprised. It is a Mexican restaurant after all, not a hipster hangout. I was very glad that they clearly marked which items are vegetarian and they actually made sure they are vegetarian. None of that chicken broth in the rice business. They do not make the tortillas there, so consequently, there are some preservatives in them, but I was glad there was no animal fat in the tortillas. Everyone there was really nice and tolerated all my questions. I got fajitas and asked for no peppers 'cause I don't like peppers, and they gave me plenty of onions, tomatoes, carrots, yellow squash, and zucchini with delightful seasoning. I could tell there was sodium in the food, but not bad for a restaurant. I was happy to see that they used herbs to season the vegetables. Squash and zucchini aren't as common as they should be in this kind of restaurant, so I was happy to see that.
