I noticed one hammock that was so detailed and much higher quality than the rest. He stated that those hammocks are all handmade and much more expensive then the other. We settled on $1800 pesos for the most detailed handmade hammock. He stated he would pack the hammock really well to be checked in at the airport. We went to the ATM as he cried at the thought of a credit card. When we came back, the hammock was securely packed and I gave him $2000 pesos. He said thanks as if it was the end of the transaction. I stated he owed me $200 pesos. He goes, "oh, yeah". I let it slide and thought he needs the funds more than me. I returned from my trip and unpacked the hammock that was so securely packed. He packed the cheap hammock, not the one we purchased. There was roughly a $65 different in price between the two hammocks. This was insanely SHADY! I'll let karma handle him and this establishment.

It's a special place to get a unique Mexican item. We planned to go back later to purchase a hat I wanted but, unfortunately, ended up not having enough time. I contacted the shop owner, Yumiko, once we were back in the US to see about having the hat shipped. She went above and beyond to get the hat to me! When the FedEx shipping charge was $$$, she personally went to the post office to research alternative ways to get the hat to me. She was awesome about sending me photos of the various hats the store has to ensure that I got the exact hat I wanted. The hat arrived today and it's even better than I remembered! Yumiko and Shima Shima are AWESOME! I can't wait to go back!

They also have a full bar, and the prices were very reasonable. The servers were very friendly and efficient, which made the experience even better. Only minor issue was the smoke detector that continued to beep inside indicating the battery needed to be changed. We actually returned a few days later, and the beeping continued. Our friendly server Roberto wheeled out a giant blackboard with the food menu on one side and drinks on the other. He also answered our questions about the tacos that were unfamiliar to us. To start, we ordered the queso fundido con chorizo. It arrived at our table bubbling hot - check out my video- with a mix of warm corn and flour tortillas. I'm guessing the chorizo was housemade because it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. We also got some elotes-style corn that was so sweet and lightly charred. I also selected the gaonera, suadero, and chicharron ribeye tacos. All had great "over the coals" flavor tucked into fresh, soft tortillas. Make sure to save room for dessert. I got the fondant de chocolate. Our server advised it would be a 20-minute wait, but it was totally worth it - beautiful presentation with a molten chocolate center. Good value and great experience!
