I am 59 years old and have been battling cancer . After months of intensive chemo...which made my hair fall out...I was finally placed on a chemo regime that was less stressful and allowed my hair to grow back. I was loath to wear another wig or scarf...but my long hair was gone and the gray stuff growing back was depressing...reminding me constantly that I was a cancer victim. In addition, my children and grandchildren were frightened that they were going to lose me. I needed a change that stated I was alive and planning on staying that way. Something that would empower me and send everyone a message that I loved every minute of my life and planned to continue to do so. My home is in Missouri, where it is currently the midst of a bad winter. My daughter flew my out to California for a bit of sunshine, pampering and great food. My first stop immediately after stepping off the plane was at La Chaise Rouge. My daughter had set up an appointment for a cut and dye with Colleen. The shop felt very comfortable, was clean and airy. Everyone seemed quiet and calm....doing their stuff. I told Colleen that I wanted my hair dyed purple...all over. After some conversation (she was just making sure I really wanted to make such a drastic change) she set about changing my life. Once I gave her the go ahead to be the artist she was...things began to roll. Colleen was very excited to be able to work some magick on the old lady!! And she did...with the encouragment of all the staff and customers. She chose a vibrant purple color , left in some original well placed streaks of my natural hair which added a depth and a bit more class to the outcome. I then moved on to getting my brows done...then back to Colleen for just the right sassy cut. I looked at myself in the mirror. I had to laugh. It was so awesome.The whole salon was laughing and enjoying the whole experience with me. Colleen taught me how to take care of the color and fix the bob to reflect my joy. This was no haircut or color for a sick old lady...but a bold statement from a woman who loves her life... The next day, my daughter and I went shopping and did an entire makeover, from glasses (to match the color of my hair) to clothing and boots. Everywhere I went, people would look...I would smile...and they they would smile back at me..and we'd talk about my great hair. It has been the best medicine I have had since I developed cancer. For me, choosing a hairstylist depends on a few prerequisites; talent, skill and customer service. Colleen Wagner fulfilled the criteria and so much more. She's personable and adaptable to her clientele, which makes her company delightful. She's also an educator and gives superb advice on my hair. La Chaise Rouge is a chic atmosphere, warm blue walls with black trim and the red velvet couch next to the entry that completes a picture and feeling of a chaise lounge. The space is open and roomy. Upon arrival, Colleen offers up a glass of wine, tea or water and stays sensitive to my need, or lack thereof, for conversation. The wireless internet is the icing on the cake. I have to drive over an hour for an appointment with her and one day I didn't get a chance to eat before my appointment. Colleen called in a food order for me, then went down the street to pick it up while I was getting my hair colored! Colleen is receptive to my endless questions about my hair and I've learned more than I could ask for over the past 6 months. She's addressed everything from hair color to how I keep the ends from frizzing as my hair gets longer. I go for the keratin smoothing treatments and she's been very helpful in keeping it maintained. She recommended a product that leaves my hair shiny and silky-soft. I completely trust her recommendations on the style and color of my hair. La Chaise Rouge may be a little more expensive than other salons, but well worth the money for the 20+ years Colleen has been a stylist and for me to relax and leave my "hair in her hands". read more

By being both cursed and blessed with naturally curly hair my entire life, finding a stylist that truly gets and embraces curls has truly been a lifelong search! For those of you who have it know what I mean--it can be near impossible to find a stylist that has been formally taught how to cut it right. It IS different than cutting straight hair, girls, which leads me to tip 1. Tip 1: Curls are meant to be cut dry, not wet. So you aren't left with either a round puff ball, or looking like a lamp shade! And for styling it, well, let's just say that Julie Sharp has you doing things in the salon I've never done or seen anyone else do! That's because you're special--you beautiful, curly-top, you! And personally, flipping my head over and back a few times was truly inviting after sitting under a heat lamp allowing those tresses to lighten! A little yoga is always good to throw in when you're sitting for long periods of time, like in a salon, right?! Which leads me to tip 2... Tip 2: Curly hair should never go near a towel, unless you're looking for frizz--which hey, I'll admit, every few days, a little frizz covered with a cute hat is just fine by me. But if you're looking for beautiful, shiny curls that'll make everyone else's head turn, I strongly suggest paying Julie a visit and let her do her magic on ya. I've been going to Quinn for haircuts and color for over three years now. She has just moved over to La Chaise Rouge, so of course, without hesitation I followed her there! I'm really glad this is where she has ended up because there is just this really calm feeling when you walk into the salon....and it doesn't hurt that it often smells like warm, freshly baked cookies! The walls are the perfect blue color and they are complimented by welcoming, modern decor. The seats are so comfortable (which is important if you're sitting there for a few hours!)...They also offer complimentary tea or coffee, so don't worry about grabbing Starbucks before your appointment. The reason I've stuck with Quinn is because she LISTENS. She just understands the way you describe what you want, and she delivers every time. She also has a killer memory and remembers what she did on the last appointment, so if you loved the color she can easily duplicate it. With Quinn I have never left feeling disappointed or misunderstood about what I was hoping for with my hair. She is an absolute master with coloring AND cuts. I'm not exaggerating here. In the past I've had great stylists who just couldn't quite deliver in the color department. In my experience, Quinn has a handle on both skills. I've been a client of Kristy's for a few years now. I LOVE her new location in Windsor. Having curly and unruly hair all my life has been a challenge especially when everyone wants to cut it like it's straight hair. Let's leave it at ... I have had some bad hair experiences. It's nerve racking with curly hair. So often I was given the same cuts over and over again.....you know...the tree look/ the mushroom puff...or just uneven hack job. A curly girls typical nightmare especially after it's been blown out straight. like I can or would do that again??! I dreaded hair appointments until I met Kristy!! I love how Kristy cuts my hair!! I went to see Julie after my friend, Anna (Anna G., you can read her review too) recommended her. Before going to La Chaise Rouge, I had never had a bad haircut, but I had never had a truly stellar one either - until now. Julie gave me the best cut & style I have ever had in my life. I went in with long hair, midway down my back. My layers & bangs had grown out considerably and I was certainly due for a trim - if not a more drastic cut. I described my hair and normal styling routine while she listened and played with it. An hour later, and several inches on the floor, I had the most incredible cut and blowout. I felt like a completely new person - dramatic, I know, but that's what the perfect cut can do for you! Most importantly, Julie really listened when I told her how my hair behaved and what I was willing to do to style it every day. My 'do looked AMAZING when I left the salon, and I am confident that I can passably replicate it on my own. I am so excited to have finally found "my stylist" and am just as thrilled to give her a much-deserved 5-star review here. I've been going to Lisa for what seems like forever. I always leave with exactly what I want! I am really bad at explaining what I I want her to do and every time I try to convey the look I desire she nails it despite my vague description! I've even had to come to her with a color correction from another stylist when I very first came to her and she completely fixed it. I also go to Lisa for Great Length hair extensions. I originally got them because I wanted to have more volume and length for my wedding. I loved them so much that I never stopped getting them! My natural hair use to be a good five or six inches shorter than the extensions, but my natural hair has been the same length as my extensions for a while now. So the extensions actually let my own hair grow but I still get them because I love the volume! The bottom line is I would recommend Lisa with 100% confidence. She is a wonderful, pleasant person who is very talented and gifted with styling and coloring hair and an expert at extensions. She is the best ever!!!!! read more

Love this place! I have followed Kristy Oakley for years and she's done my blonde hair exactly how I wanted. I've dreaded and hated going to salons and walk out yellow or with roots still. I leave happy and relieved that I look like a blond like my younger years. She's easy to talk to and listens and at one time I got this crazy hair to go super short and after a long conversation I realized later I would have regretted it. She didn't just say ok she talked me through it and if she hadn't .....now I would have been stuck. What a relief. I know the blame would have been on my impulse but it helps so much for someone behind the chair to know you. She wouldn't do it because I wasn't sure. In fact she cut me and told me come for free next week if I changed my mind. Wow. I realized I would have been miserable going that short. It was a whim. In fact, she is the only stylist for my 23 year old daughter and 12 year old son as well! Colleen is extremely professional and knowledgeable! Not only does she consistently educate herself on the latest products and techniques, she is a professional industry educator as well. I value her expertise and trust her to create a fabulous and fresh look each time I visit ! Yesterday, she suggested a new look and color for me. I was referred to La Chaise Rouge for hair and make-up for my wedding. Coleen was my hair stylist and she and Jacqueline also did the hair for 6 bridesmaids and 2 mothers. Everyone was in and out of the salon in under 5 hours with elegant and uniques styles. Coleen was very creative with my style but also receptive to my requests and my hair held curl for almost 10 hours which is almost impossible for my hair! Nicole did my make-up and I would definitely go back to her. My make-up and lashes came out exactly how I wanted them and she educated me on my skin type and good products for it without trying to sell me anything. The atmosphere of the salon is stylish yet relaxing and I love a place where I can sip a glass of wine while I get pampered! All of the employees are professional and creative. I have gone to Kristy for several years and completely trust her with my hair. For someone who has hair OCD, that's a big deal. I don't trust my hair to just anyone.... I've gotten so used to people stopping me on the street and asking who cuts my hair that I started grabbing a handful of her cards every time I go in so that I can pass them out when I'm asked. I never worry that I'll leave with something different than I asked for, and I appreciate that she is current on the latest trends. Her knack for color is amazing and I have never been anything but 100% satisfied. I HIGHLY recommend this salon. Several weeks ago, I saw the new esthetician, Meghan, as well, and was equally as pleased with her. I love, love, love coming to this place, it's like hanging with a great group of friends each time I go in, fabulous atmosphere. I have very thick, course hair, and I'm a fanatic when it comes to my style and color. After moving from San Francisco a few years ago, leaving my favorite stylist behind, I went through several stylists here before meeting Colleen, who, in my humble opinion, is heaven-sent. She cuts my hair perfectly every time, she listens to what I say I want, consults with me as to the best way to do it, and tells me when something won't work. She uses products that wont irritate my sensitive scalp, and always leaves my hair soft and silky. I have been seeing Lisa Kraeger for 10 years. She is very talented at both color and styling and I've been thrilled with my light blonde hair since I started seeing her. It looks beautiful and youthful, yet also natural. If you're blonde, then you know what that means. She styled my hair for my wedding day and I continue to receive compliments when people see my photos. I never looked better and she really took the time to see that through for me on my special day. Joleane Griffin is the best stylist and colorist I have ever found (and I have tried quite a few!). I have long blonde hair, am very particular about it looking natural and sleek, and after the 4th or 5th disappointing visit to yet another stylist, I saw a girl in Macy's in Santa Rosa with really beautifully styled and two-toned blonde hair. I stopped her and asked her who her colorist was, and she happily replied 'Joleane Griffin' and gave me her phone number. That was 7 years ago. I have followed her each time she moved to a new salon, and will continue to do so until she retires! Laura did an excellent, fantastic, aweeesome job on my unruly hair. I have had several disasters in the past year at the mercy of terrible hair stylists and it was so refreshing to have someone who really knew what they were doing! Laura put highlights in that look natural and lovely and knew how the highlights would react to the other dyes still remaining in my hair. My first time at LCR was two days ago, I thought it was a chic salon with an enjoyable atmosphere. Laura Lind is new to the salon but has been cutting my hair as well as my families for the last few years, she is an excellent stylist and easy to talk to. Recently I received a coupon from Great Clips in the mail so I figured I would would save some money -bad idea! I requested an Aline and I got a bob with freaky long bangs! Luckily for me Laura got me in asap to fix my freaky do, so I did not look like a blob. She did an amazing job as usual. I had my hair done by Kayla, and she was awesome. Actually, she took my mom and I on both at the same time! Luckily we were her last clients today. She was super helpful in helping me pick out what I wanted to do, yet awesome in considering price range since some of the styles (ombré and full highlights) were a little pricey along with a hair cut. She totally made it work and I love my end result. The fact that she made timing perfect while doing my mom and I Both At the same time was awesome. She got us both out probably within 3 hours. I love La Chaise Rouge Salon! Kristy Oakley is an amazing stylist. I have curly hair which I have hated my entire life, and Kristy introduced me to the Deva Curl haircut and styling system and now I love my curly hair! Such beautiful, soft ringlets. Kristy also does color and it's just a beautiful deep brown with soft golden highlights throughout. My hair looks and feels so soft and natural. I LOVE my hair now! The salon is clean, the staff professional and Kristy's assistant, Carlos, is always willing to sit on my lap during hair drying (he's a Chihuaua). I will never get my hair done anywhere else. This was my first visit to La Chaise Rouge. I had gone to another salon for a color treatment. I wanted to go med. brown (previously black) with some highlights. What I left with was a multi colored, striped look, which needless to say wasn't what I was going for. I called for an appointment and was booked with Jacqueline. She did an amazing job on my hair. When I left, I was so happy with the results. She managed to tone down my multi-colored hair and give it great color and highlighting. I have been getting so many compliments. Jacqueline was friendly and knowledgeable and did an amazing job. Can't recommend her enough! I will definatley be going back. read more
