I don't leave reviews lightly, which is why I reached out to the owner privately before posting this. I wanted to give the salon an opportunity to address my concerns directly. When I booked my mom's blowout, I specifically explained that she has soft, textured hair and was reassured that Yolanda Lusnia was experienced with all hair types. Based on that conversation, we felt confident moving forward with the appointment. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet those expectations. When we first walked into Rock Paper Scissors, the initial expressions and reaction from Yolanda Lusnia and Bree Pickens immediately made my mom and me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We arrived excited and trusting that my mom would be taken care of, but the first impression left us feeling out of place. During the appointment, I noticed a lack of warmth, communication, and attention to detail that you would expect from a professional salon experience. At the shampoo bowl, Yolanda did not adjust my mom's chair, speak with her, or ask basic comfort questions such as whether the water temperature was comfortable or if she preferred it warmer or cooler. Those small gestures are part of making a client feel cared for, and their absence was noticeable. About 10 minutes into the appointment, Bree did come over and kindly asked if I wanted to sit in the same room as my mom. I appreciated that gesture. However, when Bree walked me back, Yolanda said she was going to ask me the same thing. After the initial interaction, the change in tone felt uncomfortable and confusing. While my mom was at the shampoo bowl, I overheard that there was no way her hair could be blown out without straightening it. I clarified that we had booked a blowout, not a straightening service. After the service was completed, her hair was still very frizzy and did not look like a finished blowout. When I politely expressed my concerns about the result, Yolanda raised her voice and said, "I'm not used to doing this type of hair." That comment was extremely disappointing and made my mom feel singled out because of her natural hair texture. My mom has had successful blowouts at other salons, and the issue was not only the final result. It was the overall experience and the way she felt as a client. I reached out to Katie Enfield privately because I wanted to resolve this respectfully before posting publicly. While I appreciated receiving a response, I did not feel my concerns were fully acknowledged. Every client deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and cared for when they walk into a salon. read more

Finding the right hair stylist is a very personal decision. This is someone you are trusting with a part of you that's evident to the entire world. I just moved from the Peninsula to Santa Rosa so I knew that my hair stylist had to be a good fit for me. I was with my last one for 7 years. Finding Krystal was fate. She really understood what I wanted and the vibe I was going for. She's easy to talk to and it's like hanging out with a friend who happens to have a very special skill. Krystal cut my hair and gave me a balayage. It's perfect! I've gotten so many compliments and, more importantly, I feel confident. Yolanda cut my hair so they could send it to Locks for Love! She did a wonderful job on my very thick hair.

My mom made an appointment and she showed up early just to be told that they wouldn't cut her hair. No reason was given to her. They just refused her service on the spot. It just felt wrong that they accepted an appointment just for this to happen. Update: The condition of her hair was known prior to the appointment and she worked a bit to detangle parts of it. No re-scheduling was offered at the time of the refusal. read more

Been coming to see Bree here on and off for a few years, and she always does such a nice job on my hair I have curly hair and she's always cut it properly and not choppy. I've also had my hair colored by her and it was beautiful and long lasting, and when I wanted to go back to natural she helped me make it look good in the in between stages. She also recently cut my fiancés hair and she's the first stylist in a long time to actually cut his hair the way he asked for! I recently moved to the area and I have been in search of a fun, friendly, and professional hairstylist. I was lucky enough to meet Bree! She is a talented, knowledgeable, friendly, fun and fabulous hairstylist! I entered the salon and announced I "was looking forward to being her creative project for the day". She greeted me and agreed to take on the task. She has a great sense of humor. I have been adjusting to my new hair growth- it's a very different hair texture and color after surviving cancer. I wanted to try to embrace my "new" natural curly, salt and pepper colored hair with a style that made me feel vibrant and alive. I required special care. Quite a challenge for any hairstylist! I'm incredibly thankful I dared to search for a new hairstylist. Bree is a talented colorist and fun force of nature with a great sense of humor who also works with a fantastic supportive group at this location. Bree has been able to deal with my unruly hair, which is stubborn to dye. My hair is at its healthiest; it's been in a while. It's a fantastic location with a relaxing ambiance and neutral colors on the walls without blasting music in the background. The website is easy to navigate for booking appointments. The staff communicates between their website, clients, and each other at the site, which is quite refreshing. The salon is thoroughly equipped and in a fantastic, quiet location where I no longer need to fear my car will be broken into when I park for appointments. The staff and services are talented, friendly, and consistent in services. Bree has been helpful with my haircuts because she reminds me that two inches of my wet hair means 4 inches chopped off when dry and in its natural state. I made my first appointment here because I wanted an updo for my sister's wedding. I knew it might take a little work because my hair is currently VERY long. I had a few photos to give my stylist, Briana, a vague idea of what I was envisioning...but told I her to go for it. Mostly I wanted it off my neck and to be rock solid all day! Well, I'm thrilled to report that I got tons of compliments on my beautiful style and, when I got home 12 hours later, there wasn't a hair out of place. I was so impressed! She also worked in the hair pin my sister gave me as a bridesmaid's gift. I had to get highlights fixed after a horrible failure at another salon where they made me look crazy with these whacky blond highlights that didn't match my skin tone. Bailey listened to what i wanted and fixed the highlights so they were a better tone for me. After i went to dinner and a lady came up and said how beautiful i looked...i know it was because my hair looked perfect with the amazing blow dry and color. Krystal Burkhardt gave me a great haircut and outstanding Nordic highlights that combined my aging white hair and darker blonde strands. A very difficult feat that she managed with ease! I love this girl!!!! Krystal listened and took a really long time in getting to know exactly what I wanted. She agreed with what I said and then did it! Brees been coloring my hair for years, she turns my mousy brown hair with lots of gray into a beautiful color of auburn. My hair has always been fine and now that I'm getting older it's also getting thinner so I decided to try extensions. I don't want long hair or a lot of it just enough to make it look full. I also need to be able to pull it up into a pony tail or clip for work. Bree has made all this possible for me. Bailey is an amazing colorist !!! After a year under lockdown, all of my highlights ending up on "the cutting room floor" Bailey restored my hair to its former glory with beautiful Golden Highlights that looked completely natural. She doesn't use a hair dryer. I was surprised at how good the texture was after my first home shampoo - usually my hair is dry and tangled after highlights. Not this time. I loved loved loved this place!!! It was my first time getting my hair done in an actual salon setting, and it was amazing. Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful. Brie did my hair and she did such an amazing job. I am usually very nervous about my hair getting cut and Brie did not disappoint at all. My mom and I both had our appointments at 10am, we called ahead by a few days to schedule them and were able to get in together no problem. I highly recommend this place! It was great.
