Cerveceria Don Felipe is very close to the primary attraction of El Escorial - the monastery. After…read moreseveral hours of tourism, we walked there for a quick lunch before the rain set in and we took the bus back to Madrid.
The restaurant has indoor tables (which we did not see) and some pavement tables on a relatively quiet street with attractive decoration and tree-lining. It was a pleasant place to sit for lunch.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, and food arrived quickly. The menu was not that diverse, and indeed I couldn't find anything I really wanted and had to drop back to other choices.
Food quality was mixed. Our croquetas and my toastie were pretty weak, but my wife's steak dish was great.
There are several restaurants along this road, and I think that next time I would try somewhere else.
