It has to be said: we did not discover this treasure ourselves. Friends of ours had already stayed here several time, and according to their stories, this place was marvelous. So when we decided to visited Paris together, we did not look for any other options. We had to go stay at Luciano's place, no questions asked.
And having stayed there for 2 nights, I can only agree ... If you are looking for a place to stay when visiting Paris; this (in my opinion) is THE place to be. The B&B is situated in Fontenay-aux-Roses, which is about 15 minutes by metro for the city center. But when you arrive at La Clepsydre it does absolutely not feel like you are that close to one of the most crowded cities in the world.
When we arrived, I immediately felt at home and most important at ease. Luciano is the type of guy you would like to be your uncle; he's so polite and helpful and we could not help but enjoy our conversation with this man. He made sure that our stay there was extremely enjoyable.
Each room has another theme, and even though we've only seen ours and our friends' room (the Magnolia and the Acacia) I can assure you the all are very well equipped and really cozy. We are most definitely going back next year, the reservations have already been made. And we are staying in one of the other rooms, just because we can (or are we just curious?). I really think our 7-year-old will like it here, as a part of his first Paris-experience).
Breakfast was very complete and really tasteful; a great way to prepare ourselves for a long days' walk in the City of Paris.
When staying here you can leave your car on the domain, behind a gate, so you don't have to be worried that something might happen to it overnight. This, in my opinion, is also worth an extra star ... ow, wait ... I cannot give any more stars: La Clepsydre already has 5 out of 5; and has very well earned every single one of them. read more
