Within the Petite France neighborhood is this place which has plenty of outdoor tables! We had a few drinks and ate here. I ordered the pasta Platzl dish and it was really delicious. La Corde a Lingue We arrived in Strasbourg rather late in the evening. Most of the restaurants were in the process of closing, except for La Corde a Lingue. The restaurant has a very large outdoor seating area that was still completely full at 9.30pm. We ordered a goat cheese salad and their selection board. Of course, we included a bottle of Rose. Overall, the service was prompt and the food well prepared. The goat cheese salad was especially good. We returned to the restaurant for lunch our last day in Strasbourg. I gotta say that this restaurant changed my impression of Strasbourg food. Thankfully the French use Yelp and I selected this restaurant based on its above-average Yelp rating. This place stands out for its amazing location overlooking the amazing river view from any table you're seated. It used to be a laundromat or laundry cleaning place before thus the name which means a laundry hanging cord. Patio is under a large tree shaded area with umbrellas providing as well. It's a casual and touristy vibe. Food was delicious and tasty and our plates arrived warm and fresh. Service is amazing and the servers speak English and will help you with the French printed menu. An adorable, cute spot right on the river and close to the shopping streets and the town center. It was such a nice place, the menu is in French and English. The wait staff are extremely nice, and the food .... ummmm the food .... was ... AMAZING!! I order the 13€ pasta at the end of the pasta menu OMFG SO AMAZINGGGGG!!! We are on a Viking Cruise and it's been absolutely amazing. After our excursion was over, I couldn't wait to try this place we passed. I went inside and the gentleman said sit anywhere. I had picked a water view and couldnt wait for my husband to come out of the bathroom to join. I watched the server pass me 5 times as he took the drink orders from all the tables that sat around after me and not even a greet for me. Finally he comes up to me with anger and says the reserve sign wasn't facing down and stormed away. We had dinner here on a rainy night. Surprisingly, it was still packed on a Wednesday evening but we were able to score a table for three after a short 5 minute wait. Service and personnel were very good, friendly, and personable. The food was very good too! I had a different version of jambon and spaetzle with cream sauce as the items weren't mixed/cooked together as I'd expected. However, upon combining on my plate and eating, it was fantastic. My wife had spaetzle covered with a red pasta-like sauce. It was good and a different take on pasta with tomato sauce. So if you're and American looking for the down and dirty, there ya go. I got the meatballs and roasted potatoes covered in a mustard sauce and admittedly, I was hesitant about the mustard sauce but it is in no way just a heavy mustard taste with cream. It was a pleasant cream sauce with a faint but good mustard taste. The location is excellent and despite being busy, the tables are turning over fast so everyone I saw walk up got a table quick. I'm traveling alone so a table for 1 is always easy. The food came out in good time, my waiter was attentive and I think I spent around 14€ and was full. For location this place gets 5 stars and the food is ok at 3 stars but the service is less than 1 star. We stopped here for lunch and it took them 30 mins to get to us. Ok it was past the normal French 2pm lunch time but they said they were serving lunch and so we decided to eat there. The lady who was serving us was polite and friendly when she did get to us but after serving us our meals took off as her shift had ended and none of the other staff were interested in helping us either. It got to a point where I wanted to leave without paying the bill as they forgot the milk for the coffee and did not bother asking if we wanted dessert even though the waitress said she would come back and take dessert orders. Places like this survive on tourism and should know better and understand that not everyone speaks French. I would never return to this place. Funny enough whilst we were there two other groups came in and left as there was no one taking their orders. I am sure my review won't make a difference but no matter what else you have lack of poor service does not compensate for the view or the food. read more

Prior negative complaints were about servers who seemingly didn't care or didn't check in. Our experience was the opposite, as others have stated, great food, the Veal Cordon Bleu in particular. Additionally, our server was friendly and very attentive as can be in France, in which he has 6-10 tables to check on. Just watch out for Spiders and small insect from the trees above, especially when the lights go on at night, but that is what you are paying for. read more

You can not imagine a more scenic spot in Strasbourg to have lunch. Sitting out in the square overlooking the river, watching the tour boats float quietly by. Very pleasant way to spend a few hours. The specialty of the house is spatzle and they do a pretty good job with it but the service is a bit spotty when it gets crowded which is any non-rainy day. One of the few places that serves Picon beer so for something a bit different give that a try. read more

My family and I ate at this restaurant 16 Oct 2023 for lunch. The waitress that served us was kind and the food was ok even if it's a touristy establishment. What made me give a low rating was customer treatment of the head waiter or manager (?) and a particular waitress who happens to not be our waiter. This is what happened. I asked our waitress where the toilets are and she said 'outside and downstairs'. There was also a sign that says toilets are in front of the entrance and downstairs. I told my family I was going outside to go to the toilets. They were still seated and finishing up their desserts. I went outside and since there was a tree outside in front of the entrance, I looked back at the restaurant thinking maybe there was a door to go downstairs. Not seeing one I tried to go to one side of the building to see if the entrance going to the toilet downstairs was there. Just then, this waitress came after me hurriedly and asked what table I sat in in an accusatory manner while the man near the entrance was watching as she questioned me. I said it's inside and that my family is still there and I just want to use the toilet which our waitress said was outside. She ignored that and asked again what table I was seated in. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that they had assumed I was going to leave without paying! I am not even carrying my handbag! Is it because I look Asian? If they are going to treat their customers like this, it is totally unacceptable. There was not even an apology. When I approached the waitress after I had cooled down, I asked her if she actually thought I was going to leave without paying, she just said people do that and that I should not take it personally. I shouldn't? Not even an apology! They put me in an embarrassing situation and possibly will put more customers in the same situation simply because their English directions are wrong. That is simply bad business. Never going there again and telling my friends that there are better options. read more

Had stopped here once earlier in the trip for coffees and hot chocolate which was amazing. Real hot chocolate with chocolate bits at the bottom. Stopped back for lunch on our last day which is a shame bc it was the best meal in Strasbourg. The beef tartare and the Coton were both excellent the potatoes and fresh bread rounded out the meal. We stepped in here on a Saturday night because Chez Tante (recommended online) was not yet open. The outside seating is in an excellent location if the weather is good -- on the river and in a square at an intersection of walkways, so no car traffic. The wait staff seems relaxed and could communicate in French, English or German. For dinner I had Kelsch (cheese and ham) on traditional spaetzele, a green salad and a glass of apple cider. We were so pleased to have stumbled across this cute restaurant located right on one of Strasbourg's canals--especially because the rain left us no choice. The atmosphere of this restaurant is charming. Very French provencial--a bit cheesy but it works. Children's clothing are hung from clothing lines above your heads, Christmas decorations at your sides. We were immediately greeted by our very helpful server. Had some delicious coffee to start (France has the best coffee!!) followed by the mustard meatballs "dentelle"and my husband got a burger with some delicious roasted potatoes.
