I frequently come to this library and always have a good experience. The library is renovated and has different sections for age groups. There is plenty of seatings inside and 2 study rooms. It can be noisy with kids sometimes, but other that that, it is fairly quiet. Staff is friendly. Plenty of parking. One downside is you have to ask to use the bathroom. read more

Nice big clean library in the middle of nowhere. Sorry typo, Norwalk. County library doesn't have as much free printing as city but this was a Godsend on the way to an interview when I had no resumes on me. 10 pages free. Parking is weird, you have to press a button to get in but there's no ticket. Whatever. Weirdly they are closed random days of the week, and open at 12pm. Worked for me but maybe not if you have literally anything to do in the morning. read more

When I called Norwalk library to check if a crafting tool I needed was available, the lady (Cheryl) who assisted me on the call was very kind and helpful. When I went in (on a different day), I find the library very nice and clean. People on the front desk were super helpful. The books I was looking for were available. read more

I like coming here on Tuesdays and Wednesdays because they are open until 8 pm. This is later than most other libraries in the area and I like that a lot. It also tends to be quiet inside although there are some days where it is a little loud because people don't know how to be quiet. The library itself is cozy and has a lot of little sections where you can go and seclude yourself for a little while. I enjoy where it is located as well, something about this section of Norwalk gives me a sense of peace and tranquility that few other places give me. read more

Enjoyed this library! Came to this library because it near the farmer's market on Tuesday's. I came to sit near the center of the library right when it opened at noon. It is a bit noisier than most libraries but it's tolerable. It's not completely quiet, there will be conversations here and there but it's not as bad as people make it out to be in the reviews. The library was neat, had lots of sections to explore, printing process is easy and there's study rooms! There was security walking by every once in a while. Lovely library. read more

Beautiful library with super high speed internet, but holy crap is it loud!!!! I cannot work/focus here. Patrons play videos and talk all day and the library staff does nothing! In fact the library staff themselves talk loudly to each other and to patrons all day. At the library I grew up with as a kid the staff used low voices and whispers when they talked to each other and to customers. Not here! They even have an information desk in the middle where a lady takes phone calls and her voice echos throughout. And I can't believe they are closed on Sundays. That is very community unfriendly! read more

Fairly nice size library. Not very far from the Cerritos one. They have a huge parking lot and they have a ton of new magazines and books. Staff are nice here but, Sometimes the library can be a mess. They have good computer laptops and programs for the community. You can borrow and rent movies here. The City of Norwalk has a tradition that they have free concerts for the local people every summer . Beside the musics they also have games for the kids to enjoy the family day out. The band played around 7 pm , there were a lot of people showed up and some of them were dancing with the music. It was kind of nice for the city to have these activities for the local citizens. Today was hot in this area, but the temperature has gone down a bit and you could feel the breezes going through around here. There were fast food restaurants and other shops close by . Target and Walmart also were close walking distances. Bravo to the city of Norwalk. read more

The WiFi is great, rarely ever down. They allow 1 hour of free computer time, and you can log back in for another. They have a wide range of movie selections and you can check out up to 50 movies at once! You have 1 week for all movies to be returned (7 days). There is a kids section and tons of seating for people who bring their own computers, tablets, phones, etc. It is cold all day and night, rain or shine, so I'd suggest to bring a jacket. The only thing that could maybe seem like a negative is the homeless people that stop in from time to time. They almost never ask for money or help but some do bring in a lot of personal belongings, they aren't disruptive or loud! My family nor I have ever felt uncomfortable or uneasy around them (sitting right next to them) but some people tend to stay away due to personal feelings. Most of them are local homeless coming in to cool off and use the computers. Atmosphere can get a little loud after 2pm since most family's come in and the kids area can get packed and rowdy, on the weekends its a little more loud than average but nothing you can drone out with or without headphones. I've had my library card here for almost 10 years this is the only library I feel comfortable in and can find everything I need! read more

This is an amazing library with amazing staff! I came here for the first time a couple of days ago and was greeted with a hello. I walked to an empty table and started to read. People there are courteous and quiet. I would say it's a pretty standard library inside with computers and Internet, but what was exceptional was when I went to get a library card. The lady was sweet and helpful. Apparently the LA County Library system allows you to request books and return them to any of their multiple locations. It was so fast and easy to sign up. I actually had a specific book I wanted to check out and the librarian helped me get it too. She told me about some perks like 5 free MP3 downloads a week..pretty awesome! Anyway, she was exceptional and my visit was so smooth and quick, I was impressed. read more

If you like spacious well staffed libraries, with oodles of helpful librarians and a welcoming community based approach you'll love the County Library at Norwalk! The library is separated into several sections. As you enter you'll immediately see a central area lined with 4 rows of computers you can check out. Unlike other public libraries which tend to limit to 1 hour intervals, here you have 2 full hours per day with the only caveat being that that 2 hour limit is separated into 2 one hour blocks. That means after the first hour you have to move to a different PC. IMO that's a small price to pay for the extra time. Another thing I like here is that the computers are fast and not in the least sluggish unlike other libraries I've used. They do tend to get quite a bit of usage but being as good as they are its easy to understand why. Every PC here uses Windows 7 Enterprise. 4 1/2 Stars The staff: The staff here could not be better. They are not only eager to help but do it with a smile. The Managing librarian Sue even helped me herself with a problem with my cell connecting to the Wi-Fi. When was the last time you had the Library Manager help you with a smike? Mine was today. 5 Stars Wi-Fi: It's not the fastest but it is fast enough. I measured at 12 MBS earlier today and although at times it might slow just a tad, overall I am happy with my speeds. One thing to note. The connection here can be a little tricky for notebooks and some cellphone users. Firefox and Chrome do not correctly display the log in screen. If you have a problem logging in, just upload 'Android browser' from the Play Store and you'll solve the your log in issue. Safari on I phones should accomplish the same. 3.75 Stars Atmosphere: Its very open and community based. You won't get yelled at for talking to someone. It's also a place parents can feel comfortable bringing their kids to study. Some people might mind the extra bit of conversational white noise, but I appreciate it. If you absolutely have to have a library where you can hear a pin drop, this location may not be your cup of tea but I would still encourage you to visit and see for yourself first. 5 Stars I really like this particular library. This is a large library is located adjacent to the County Registrar's Office. It's also by the Norwalk Courthouse. A California Driver's License will assist you in getting a library card on the spot. I was at the County Recorder's Office when I discovered that I had to correct a document. I was able to secure a computer immediately. I drafted my document and printed it out. The staff members are very helpful. You can also go online to download books. read more

This library is nice, but there are some aspects of it I find both frustrating and annoying. One is the printing policy. There was a long line to print and I noticed the other side of the library had no one. When I went over to print I was stopped and told it was the children's section. There were literally no children in the area. The line could have easily been split but the staff can be very strict with who is allowed in their different sections. Another thing the library should get are comfier seatings for adults. Unknowingly I sat in the teens reading section because the seating looked/felt more comfortable. Again in this scenario there was no one around. The security then came up to me saying I needed to leave because I was sitting in a teens only section. I didn't mind leaving the section, but I do ask that the library get better furniture for the adults. Overall, I understand the safety concern with following these rules, but I feel the strictness of upholding the policies can be worked on. It would have not have hurt anyone to let library patrons use another printer, it would not hurt anyone to get comfier furniture. Aside from those experiences the staff is okay. Sometimes they are a little more on the cold side, but that's to be expected with any business. read more

For being a free public library, this one's actually pretty solid. Abundant parking, a good number of computers, and friendly people abound. The research librarians genuinely care and will put their shoulder to the wheel and help you ferret out what you're looking for. The collection itself is decent. It may not have the latest and greatest item off Amazon, but they've got a very decent collection. They've got a lot of community/after-school reading programs, arts and crafts happenings, and used book sales...all fun things you want to see in a library giving you that 'they actually care' feeling. It's relatively easy to secure a library card and the collection is fairly expansive. This one's a winner. read more

This is more like a "social" networking library. What happened to actually "reading" in the library? This library is loud. How could anybody do their homework there? I walked in and you've got rows and rows of computers and they were full. I glanced over to the rows and rows of books and the only people I saw there were over 25. Ok, I take that back...there WERE a few jr high kids there, but they were there running and playing tag through the isles. Seriously. The librarian there was very helpful (I was looking for a book) but she seemed oblivious to all the noise here at the library playground. Librarians WERE known for their "shushes" and "hushes". Unless you're there to grab a book and get out of there, don't stay there to read. Or take a pair of ear-plugs or noise canceling headphones, you'll need them. (Unfortunately, I can make this review for most libraries nowadays. I predict they'll be no more. Again, who reads there anymore?) read more

When I was a kid, the number 1 rule was to be QUIET in the library. This place is a playground for children who yell at the top of their lungs and run. The staff and parents say absolutely nothing to the wild kids. I brought my daughter here to have a nice quiet place to study without distractions. She could not study with all the noise so we left. They also need to adjust the air conditioner. We were freezing!!!! and very uncomfortable.Stay clear away from here if want a quiet place to study. We also brought food that we were going to eat outside, but when I saw this transient eating his food in the library, we decided to eat at our desk. So you get to talk and eat here, REALLY!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Then the transient took a nap. I will only come here to check out books. read more

A real gem, as far as public libraries go. its a very large, open room with high ceilings, the building is very "midcentury modern" (sorry i know that sounds pretentious these days), they have a huge selection of magazines including a lot of intersting ones that ive never heard of or seen at major bookstores, and a good dvd selection compared to most libraries. my new thing is renting dvds from the library because it costs nothing. this is part of the huge LA County library system, so if you go online and reserve a book or movie you've heard good things about, they are bound to have it somewhere. read more

I haven't been to many libraries in my later years after college. I was really pleased with this location. Professional employees and a really nice place. I was really surprised how big this place was. I took a stroll around and I loved how organized it was. This is was a library should feel like. I was able to connect to the outlets and work on my homework research paper, quietly. The wifi was just ok but it got the job done for sure. I don't live nearby so it's only if I happen to be in the city that I will come by here. read more

Nice library, very large and staff is helpful. BARK program( 2nd Wed of month) is awesome. My son ( 6 1/2) loves to read to the therapy dogs and the companions with them are really sweet. The preschool story time ( 12pm on Tues) librarian is good, her transitions are a little rough. The parents/sitters often do not keep their kids in check which makes it harder on her. Over all this is a nice library with some awesome programs. read more

Shhhhh. No one shushes anymore, well, at least not here. I also get the impression that this place is for getting on the computer, taking advantage of free wifi and dropping off your noisy kid. Kids will be kids I understand, but to simply not do anything about the amount of noise and disruption is absurd. Staff and crappy parenting are to blame of course, but still doesn't fix the problem. I gave a 2 Star because of the noise level. Unbelievable how parents let their kids run amuck and the staff doesn't say anything. I am a parent of a 1st grader and I explained the rules of libraries. I took my kids here for the first time. This is a great library for young kids. They have a play area in the children's section. The staff are also VERY nice and willing to help you or walk you around for a tour. This will be somewhere we frequent during the summer months! read more

Great library overall... This place is huge, and if you walk around enough, you're bound to find a nice spot to sit and enjoy whatever reading material you have. I often frequent the Homework Center (for my 4th grader) and the Children's area (for my preschooler). Yes, both areas can be noisy for library standards. What I find annoying is that some parents, grandparents, or other library users will use the Children's Area as a place to talk on their cell phone or a place for their child/grandchild to just run around and take books away from other kids. I've experienced that maybe twice. For the most part this library is very well-kept. I like how all the new titles are kept up front, my son enjoys the DVD selection ("renting" for free), and, although there can be a wait for the computers, there are plenty of them for most to use. I also like the fact that I can search for titles on line and request to pick them up at whichever county library I choose. I can choose to get mailed paper reminders (no!!!! go green!!!) or online e-mail reminders for when my books/DVD's are due. You can return your selections at the drive-up book return outside before the parking gate, or by walking up the stairs to the drop box there, or by going inside the library. read more

I am a big book worm so it's hard for me to hate a library. Having said that, I do admit that this library is outdated and some books stink. Like, literally, stink. You know the old, damp, weathered, moldy smell of books from decades past? Yup. But they also have some newer books, too. It's fairly large and has an overall great selection, IMO. The staff have always been nice, friendly, and helpful to me and my son. No complaints here. I just wish they would remodel it! Not enough funds...sigh. read more

This is the nearest public library to my home and I really wished the County of Los Angeles would PLEASE RENOVATE IT. It has literally not changed since I was a kid and that was at least 15 years ago. The Norwalk Library is huge and has so much potential to be a very nice library like the other County of LA libraries. Unfortunately, I do not like coming to this library because it is outdated, LOUD for a library (people will literally engage in phone calls instead of stepping outside, fail to put their phones on silent, blast their music so loud you can hear it through their earphones and kids are constantly screaming/crying), wooden chairs are too rigid (although they do have some comfortable black chairs on the west side of the library but there are only a few) and the library staff does not remind library patrons about basic library etiquette. I think the Norwalk Library serves other purposes for the community of Norwalk, but not really a "library". So overall, if you need to really study and need a quiet play to focus I would recommend other nearby libraries such as the Artesia Public Library (modern, clean and quiet) and the Cerritos Public Library (modern, huge, quiet). This is a great library in Norwalk. I prefer this library over Alondra. It's modern and up-to-date. It's big, airy and has lots of space. They also have a large collection of books and lots of computers. The lighting is just right and I always enjoying coming here. The staff is nice and they have a large collection of DVDs. The bathrooms are a bit gross, but otherwise this is one of my favorite libraries to come to. read more
