As the storefront image shows, the art-space is housed within a great old water tower made of bricks with a steel skeleton. The viewer encounters expositions from bottom-to-top, reconnoitering a circuit at each level and scaling a black iron stair to the next. Little trapezoidal alcoves are cut into the outer wall, and it's in these little rooms the art hangs. The lighting is excellent, but fades into the immense center of the tower where the stair climbs. A bit of weirdness: as this space is situated inside the city's canal control complex, in a courtyard amidst their central offices. Viewers must go through a comparatively intense screening process to enter. You must provide your ID and then go through a metal detector, one by one. Kind of a pain, but security is security; it's definitely not so bad as an airport. As an art space, I give this place five stars. I've never seen a better use for a structure so old it could easily be derelict in other circumstances. It's RAD to explore an old brick-and-stone water tower. It's just cool, and a great idea that could stand as a precedent for other ailing unique structures around the city. TL;DR: Art spaces should be as creative as this. Note: the website doesn't seem to accept my Canadian credit card... so I bought my ticket in person at the box office (which opens at 6pm, I know...) Note 2: they are VERY strict with cameras. So I hope they don't kill me as I post mine. The staff is nice, they will try their best to understand you (me). I communicated by showing them my phone (with the event page open), and they got it. They also weren't rude at all, especially when they had to repeat themselves and I stared blankly (I'm sorry!!). If this were Toronto... Other than CIRCUS shows, there are music shows (singers and bands) as well. The tickets are super cheap! Since I had to rely on the staff's seat pick (argh), I was pleasantly surprised they made sure to choose "best available" for me! yay!! All the seats are pretty good, they are arranged nicely so people in front will not obstruct your view. The stage is not big. Okay the audience: this place seems like a children's festival venue. So you will see a lot of children. And a lot of children cannot sit still, especially with so much action and music going. You just have to pray to the circus gods that they're not sitting behind you. (FYI they were sitting to my left, not behind me. Thank goodness. But the poor 10 year old boy in front had to deal with seat kicking, ear-piercing screams, and little hands grabbing his hair. The poor boy!! And his parent obliviously didn't switch seats with him. Argh. Jeez) OK THE SHOW: the one I watched was an anniversary show by la Escuela de Circo Carampa (a circus school since 1994!!!). And they are freaking amazing, let me give you an example: tight-rope walking on loose ropes (there were 5) and he walked (and danced) the ropes like he's strumming a guitar. The show was a bunch of mini shows, featuring 1-2 performers. It was fun. You know those frisbee rings that are super bendable, well one performer used these in his show. Circus here wasn't the traditional stuff, they used a bunch of "Oh I didn't know you could play with that!?" materials.

The theater calls itself 'Teatro Circo Price' or Price Circus Theater and is shaped in the classic ring that maximizes viewing for attendants. This worked really well for the concert, in my opinion, and the seats we had were in no means expensive or great but everyone could see the action on stage. The attendants were quite polite and did not make anything difficult for our group, which included mostly teenagers who all had a good time.

It's free Saturdays after 2:30pm - it's also free on certain days, like World Heritage Day (April 18, 2015, which was when I visited) okay that's actually a million things first. ========= Here's why I enjoyed it ========= The museum kept true to the Spanish culture and history. Sure, France and Italy started much of the country's fashion influences, the museum emphasizes on the SPANISH history -how they dressed, how they were influenced, what they kept from the Spanish ancestors, what they added from the French, etc. The museum organizes its collection from earliest to today's fashion (2015). It's like a history book with lots of pictures!! I love history books with lots of pictures!! (because I fall asleep reading textbooks) The museum included old furniture and accessories relating to dressing, ex. mirrors, drawers, even fashion dolls. Fun fact: how did fashion magazines start? Fashion designers created mini mannequins with beautiful clothes and sent them to the rich people. By mannequin, I'm talking about vintage dollies. With vintage clothing on. So as more catalogs and sketches were produced, and more people want to know what other people were wearing, and they wanted to know what people in other countries were wearing.... these fashion sketches became very popular. Fashion sketches became fashion magazines. What happened to men fashion??? Well men were into business and etc. so they just dressed professionally (and blandly). Women need to look good. The more extravagant they look, the richer the husband pretends to be. And all of this I learned here at the museum because the information is bilingual!! Yay!!! There are leaflets in each section/room that tells you the name and dates of what you're looking at. Eventually the dates look like numbers (uhhhh 1930s.. 1920s...) to me. For the 10 minutes that most people could finish this museum, I stayed here for 2 hours reading every single (English) description. Like a book. ========= So it's up to you ========= I like learning about how we evolved from day 0 to year 2015. So this was a great museum, I loved it to bits. I couldn't work their old computers though, it's all in Spanish and the rolling ball mouse is weird. ========= Atmosphere and venue ========= I visited on the Saturday morning and it was very quiet. It's much easier than the Golden Triangle of Madrid art museums, so it's good on an afternoon jaunt into the Chambri area where you'll find the Madrid history museum right nearby, the Mercado Barcelo and other shops, cafes, restaurants so you can make a whole afternoon of it. Not too from here are the Sorollo museum, the Real Madrid stadium, and a few (!) Michelin star restaurants. This museum is right off the Tribunal metro stop. If you're staying nearby, like at Hotel Saldinero, well then you really should stop by and take a gander. Don't miss the big doll house with the tiny dancer holograms.
