This place is legit! I am a long time flamenco student and my teacher recommended this place as it is one of the most highly regarded tablaos in Madrid. Came here for the 10:30pm flamenco show, having reserved online a few days in advance. 40 euros gets you in to the show and includes 1 drink. It may seem a bit pricey (there are cheaper options in the city for sure), but it is 100% worth it if you want to see authentic flamenco in an intimate space. The seating area is not huge, but best of all, seats are kind of on an angle. So even if you are near the back, you can see the footwork. This is really great, because so many flamenco tablaos I went to in Andalucia were really cramped and basically if you are not in the front few tables, you cannot see any of the dancers' feet. Anyways, the calendar on the website will tell you who is dancing and who is performing on guitar and cante (singing). They get a lot of excellent artists here. The performance had one intermission and went until ~midnight. The dining area is at the front and the stage and performance space are in a smaller separate room in the back. Servers bring the drinks to you so you don't have to get up to go to the bar. Like many places in Spain, once you sit down you get a little bowl of nibbles, such as nuts. Overall, an incredible and moving experience with top notch performers. Plus, the location is very central, just a few blocks from Puerta del Sol. Because of the location perhaps, there will be a fair number of foreigners in the audience, but rest assured that what you are seeing here is the real deal. read more

What an awesome experience! I went to see a flamenco show during my honeymoon, and I will never forget it. There is a restaurant connected in the front and a room with a small stage and seating (like a small comedy club setup) in the back. We ordered some meatballs and some ham. Both dishes were great, and I wish we had decided to order the full dinner, but we did not (next time!). The show was fantastic! We were lucky enough to reserve seating in advance, so we were in the front row. The guitarists, the dancers, the singers ... they were phenomenal. I loved the music. I loved both the male and female dancers. They really worked up a sweat, and if you sit in the front row, be prepared to get some sweat on you. There are two primary acts: Act 1: Male and Female Dance Act 2: Female and Male Solo dances There is a short intermission after the first act. This is an excellent place to watch flamenco. I would definitely recommend calling ahead to avoid the chaos and make sure you get a seat. I ended up calling just an hour before the 8 p.m. show, and it was totally fine, but others who just showed up had a hard time finding seats. The ticket includes a drink, and I would definitely stop there. I was seated right by the kitchen and saw one of the servers sneeze directly onto her hands and onto a plate of food, and she immediately served that food to someone. read more

Restaurant: ok food, great service, unfair charge for bread which I neither asked for or ate. The chairs are basic and somewhat uncomfortable. Performance: great group playing for an audience that didn't appreciate them enough. Lots of passion and skill. I didn't care for the guest musician on saxophone- as is often the case with jazz saxophone players they tend to play the licks they've practiced regardless of whether or not it fits the music happening around them. There wasn't a lot of listening / responding going on but it didn't ruin the rest of the show for me- still lots of talent and connection on stage. The seating in this place was narrow, uncomfortable and arranged like a theater. The people who paid for the dinner got the front rows with better view. We got the first of the non-dinner tickets but our views was blocked by the people in front of us. I heard the same complaint from the people behind us that they were struggling to get a good look at the stage - and no one could see the dancers' feet. They need to put the stage a bit higher or have a more steep incline for the people seating in the back. The show was okay but we did not enjoy the atmosphere as much as the other places. btw... we passed the dining room and saw other people's dinner.... they did not look appetizing and we were glad that we did not eat there. read more

€38 for the show, drink included, in November 2016, was well worth it. There were two vocalists, a percussionist, two guitarists, and two dancers (male and female). They were all excellent. There was a short solo guitar performance in the middle of the show. The show was ~1.5 hours including short intermission, and an encore performance with someone from the audience who presumably was a previous band member. The venue is intimate. The stage has barely enough room for the performers. For best results, look up their website for show times and call to make a reservation. No credit card needed, they only need your name, and number of people in your party to hold your seats. Then go there 20 minutes before the show. I feel quite lucky to have seen real (and vibrant!) Flamenco accompanied by a real Flamenco enthusiast...a Spanish, Madrid-dwelling one at that! Despite all of the English reviews here, have no fear -- this is not a touristy place. In fact, it's quite legitimate. Having never been to a performance such as this before in my life, I had no idea what to expect. Within minutes I was transfixed by the energy and intensity -- the music, the heart and soul of the production. Not to mention I could feel the stomping and clicking straight to my core. An all body experience. The performers and the crowd get very into it -- and it's really a beautiful site. Such passion and exuberance. Traditional, yet contemporary. Simply put, I adored it. I felt very blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy it late on a chilly spring evening. We didn't come to eat, but had a few tapas (fish & jamon) which were simple and tasty. Went beautifully with a bottle of red wine and a beautiful performance. One drink does come complimentary with your ticket to the show, which is in a small theater near the back. My colleague planned the evening, but call or check the web site for showtimes, specials, etc. You'll want to reserve a table, especially on a weekend. In Madrid, there is a lot of excellent food and quite a few places with great flamenco shows. This place is a true double threat, as they do both things extremely well. We arrived here at 9pm for our pre-show reservation and were seated quickly. We chose a few plates to share: black pudding, grilled octopus, and a plate of jamon. We also had a tasty bottle of albarino. The black pudding was rich and flavorful, served with piquillo peppers and artichokes to balance the flavor. The jamon was a generous portion and of excellent quality. However, the highlight of this meal (and also one of the highlights of all the food we ate in Spain) was the octopus. We knew we were in for a treat when our server seemed so happy that we ordered it and told us how good it was. It was a generous serving with potatoes on the side, so fresh and perfectly grilled with just the right amount of charred-ness. Thinking about it makes my mouth water. After all this fantastic food, it was time for the show. We were seated in the middle of the theater at the front of the raised section, probably one of the best seats in the house because we had a perfect view of the stage. On the night in question there were two male singers, two guitar players, a violin player, a male dancer, and a female dancer. All performed with such passion and emotion that it was a joy to watch. The show was everything I'd hoped for. I didn't want it to end. For me, choosing a place to watch flamenco in Madrid was a bit overwhelming because there seemed to be so many good options. One of the best places in town to see a flamenco show. Casa Patas is a restaurant which has a number of salons for the performers. The main salon is the one on the floor where the restaurant is. This is where the flamenco show is hold. You may reserve the dinner and/or the show. The food and the drinks are all very delicious and definitely worth it. But the shoes are the reason people go to this place. To reach the flamenco salon you go though the restaurant which is decorated with the photos taken at various old shows. The same is true inside the salon. It has a traditional decoration, and the tabla (where the performers are) is a beautiful wooden board. Finally the show: the performers (dancers and singers) are changed every few days. They choose the most famous flamenco singers and dancers in the country so you won't be disappointed with the ones you happen to see the night when you go. The entrance fee includes a free drink as well. You can choose among wine, sangria, soft drinks, and a wide range of alcoholic beverages. Let's enjoy the show while sipping on your drink. read more

No question, the highlight of our Madrid trip. I took my folks to Casa Patas for our first time experiencing a flamenco show. We were curious and relaxed going in. We were awestruck and speechless when we left. Didn't do dinner here but seriously, the show was amazing. Our reserved seats were front row right in front of the stage. Every performer (from the dancers to the singers to the musicians) were top notch. They all exuded passion and emotion ... have never seen anything quite like it. The one downside of sitting in the front row was that we were periodically sprayed with sweat from the dancers. But in return, we got unobstructed views of the performance. Casa Patas is pricey (roughly 35 Euro per person). But it was absolutely worth it ... one of those things I'll probably always remember many years from now. read more

I was trapped in Madrid with a credit card that stopped working. I would later find out that my bank froze the card, by not adding "Spain" to the countries I planned to visit when I notified them of my travel plans.Thank God my hotel bill was already paid. With 50€ in my pocket, I tried to make the most of my 3-day Madrid adventure. I ended up at Casa Patas with my limited funds. Fortunately, my American friends offered to keep my glass full of wine, which was the best part of this trip. The tricky thing about Casa Patas, (besides me not speaking Spanish), was trying to order a "dinner for one" off their menu. There was no conceivable way of ordering a complete dinner, unless I wanted to buy several dishes of food. How do single people do it? I didn't want to have to beg my friends for food, so I did my best to decipher the menu enough so that I got a balanced meal- which would likely be the only meal I could afford to get in Spain. I ended up with the Alcachofas Salteadas which was just barely in my budget. When my plate arrived, several rounds of artichokes swam in the oil on my plate. A tablespoon's worth of diced Iberio ham was sprinkled on top. I did share it with my friends, who in turn shared some of their other food with me, thank God. I'm sure I would have liked this experience a lot more if wondering whether I had enough money to make it back to the US wasn't an issue. I left what money I had, saving a couple euros for the Metro to the airport. Definitely the most uncomfortable dining experience ever. Lesson learned: Never travel without a bunch of cash, several credit cards, and friends who will share wine. read more

After dinner we went to see live flamenco to Casapatas. The show will get in your veins as the shows begins with voices and zapateos. It's a small place and it gets crowded, but if you make reservations you should be fine. If you give a little extra $$ to the waitstaff at the door they will give you the tables that said reserved. ( I noticed that is a trick they manage well to make an extra tip) don't sit on the first 3 rows unless you don't mind the spry of sweat from the dancers. Damn they can sweat! They offer tapas and drinks inside. Which we were not interested much for food but for Sangria and wine. I think this is an incredible spot to appreciate this beautiful art of Flamenco and Spanish guitar. Very romantic if you in "la conquista" of someone special. Great place for tourists. read more

We had a great night here. We walked in without reservation and since we were an hour early, we had some appetizers and drinks first. Note: they charge for bread that they automatically placed in your table. Table was unsteady, the waiter tried to put a wedge to steady it - no success! Hey, we don't care that much. Food (calamari and octopus) weren't bad. Octopus too much huge sea salt though. Flamenco show - fun! I wouldn't get the swordfish again because it was a thin piece, but the lamb was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The house wine was inexpensive and tasty and the service was great. The show had great guitar players, 3 singers, and 1 male and 1 female dancer. The night we went the dancers were both older (likely in their 40s-50s) but they still kept flamenco energetic and sexy. Yelp came through for me again. This put our Madrid stop over the top! We came to the last show at 11PM I believe and loved that it ran long with the whole family coming out at the end. The dancing was passionate and incredible. Originally they had us seated in the back, but we asked if we could be moved towards the front and they told us that once it was closer to show time and some reserved tables were not claimed we could go up. 5 minutes later we are front row center! Great service with a smile, which is SOMETHING to hail in Madrid. Tip your waitresses well. Food was amazing, my wife ordered 2 appetizers which we shared and it was great. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Tip #1: Yelp had 50% off a Flamenco show. Check on "offers" because during the week I believe you can unlock this. Everything was excellent and reasonably priced, which is surprising since I expected them to rest on their flamenco show and provide average food at inflated prices. The show itself was fantastic. Better than I had expected. The service during the show wasn't great, we barely got our free drink into the 2nd half of the show. You would think they would want to sell some add on drinks (which I gladly would have done). Amazing place! Flamenco performance at its best. Kids friendly, as we came with our daughters 7 and 3 yo, dressed in flamenco dresses, of course! This place is amazing! It was recommend to us by a local when my mother and I asked for a good spot to see my very first flamenco show. The show was absolutely breathtaking. It was nothing like I had ever experienced in my life. The walls of this restaurant/showcase are lined with authentic Spanish decor, including pictures and autographs of star Flamenco performers. This was my first flamenco in Madrid, it was amazing! We reserved our seats ahead of time(must do, house was packed) sat on the front row. To my surprise the staff actually new english and were nice. Its so captivating, feeling the vibration of their stomping, the emotion of the songs, the passion in their eyes and movement through their body. The ladies dress swinging over our tables knocking drinks and papers off the tables; the sweat from the dancers covered our table by the night. It was just amazing. Must see! read more
