They have an bountiful selection of their ciders present that ranges from the regular apple to blueberry and what I came for was the Plum and Pear ciders. They do offer a light tasting and man...it's unbelievable. You see when I first came to Quebec I was on a huge apple cider kick that I went bananas for the first year I was here. Now...... I only care for the ice cider as it's much more concentrated. The other stuff I don't care for at all now. The Plum cider called Dame Prune is amazing (very light 6.5%)! So amazing I bought four bottles this trip plus two of the pear. They sell for $18 a bottle or 3 for $45. So (being the thrifty Manitoban) I went for the bulk discount. They also have apple butter (which I was told to buy because it was deemed amazing) plus many other jellies and jams. The apple butter. I think okay but I'm not a huge jams and jellies person in the morning. My wife really likes it though! The products here are simply awesome and make a great Quebec gift if you are from out of town. Quebec City already feels deeply European, and I would love to see more pride in showcasing Asian food as it really is. Here's the truth: authentic food usually outperforms the "tailored-to-locals" version. People rise to the occasion when they're given the real thing. Sadly, what I often see--here included--is the opposite. Local diners leave thinking they've "experienced Asian food" when, in fact, they haven't. The first red flag was in the description itself: "Asian." Asia is vast and diverse. Expecting one restaurant, or one chef, to represent it all is impossible. It's like walking into a place that claims to serve all European food under one roof. Unrealistic by definition. So, no, Madame Phan isn't authentic. But it did serve its purpose: it gave us something spicy when we needed it. I just wish more restaurants here leaned into authenticity rather than compromise.
