Even the cheese was lacking flavor not sure how. The pizza likely should have been cooked for another few minutes. Nice place, cool atmosphere but the food and drinks need some work. It's tucked behind an otherwise unremarkable doorway between an Oxxo and a pizza bistro on the worn, narrow Carranza street, across from the Culinary Institute. It's worth trying to persist and find the door that leads up some stairs into the main dining room (there are two other adjoining rooms in this house that has been re-furbished as a restaurant). The rooms are painted in rich Mexican color and decorated with the skulls, religious figurine altars, and iconography typical of traditional, colonial Mexican culture. The Mezcal cocktails include one mixing both Horchata and Mezcal, but also others that blend fruits/cucumber infusions with Mezcal (there are about nine different ones to chose from). The House prepares its own Mezcals which you can take as shots or used in cocktails. The menu offers some interesting pizzas and open-faced sandwiches. I enjoyed the pleasant service, and the cool music. The dining rooms are nice but their terrace is open up above on weekends, when I hear, they have DJs that spin.

We came across this place, while being greeted by a very nice man, holding the restaurant's menu. We weren't sure what we wanted to eat but were very hungry and needed to eat a good and hearty meal before our big adventure. The menu had a variety of Mexican items so we opted to eat here. The waiter asked if we wanted to be in the garden. Since it was early (0830), we had the whole area to ourselves. We asked for coffee, horchata, chilaquiles, ham and eggs, and Mexican style eggs (onions, tomatoes and jalapenos= the colors of the Mexican flag). Our waiter brought us these amazing bread, that I've never tried before, but was sort of Hawaiian King's without the sweetness, it was buttery instead. Our food followed promptly. The chilaquiles sauce was so, so tasty. Eggs cooked to perfection. The homemade tortillas were a little on the thick side, which is ok by me, and were tasty (believe me, even in Mexico, some places still don't know how to get their tortillas right). The coffee was truly cafe de olla because you could taste the olla in it, hehe (Mexican-raised kids will know...) The horchata was so ricy, sweet and refreshing, hmmmmm! While we were eating, the waiter kept checking on us to make sure everything was ok. He asked what we were doing for the rest of the day and we pretty much gave him our "planned" itinerary. He strongly recommended we rented a car to get the most from our trip. I'm glad we listened to him because the island is huge and unless you are ok with paying for a pricey taxi each time you wanna move, there's no other way to get around. So we rented a jeep from across the street, how convenient. He also made some personal recommendations, which is always nice because the locals know what they're talking about. He told us which beaches to definitely try and which to avoid due to strong currents. This guy was truly awesome. He made our dining and traveling experience that much nicer. For dinner we went somewhere else to vary our food experience but this other place we went to was not as tasty, overpriced and the costumer service was meh. So, next time we go to Cozumel, this will be the spot to hit for breakfast, lunch and dinner for sure, we won't mess around anymore. Our complete breakfast check for 3 came to less than $20 US, but we left a $10 tip for the awesomeness of our waiter.

As a started they bring you a small plate of salsas with bread and another plate with bread and jam. Yummm as it goes well with your coffee. I ordered the chilaquiles dulce amor which consist of enchiladas with cecina and beans. I added the egg on the side. IMO the egg needs some work as it was over cooked, that is the only bad thing I have to say about the plate. Maybe next time I just let them know not to overcook the egg. Overall the plate is delicious and a good portion just make sure to get the red salsa as the green one has a tangy flavor since they use tomatillo ( little green tomato). If you are into coffee you NEED to get the cafe de olla. Bonus it's refillable !!!! As far as the service goes they have good service the only downside which can be seen as a good thing is that they are fully booked so the wait will be a bit.
