Intimate, welcoming, clean, friendly people who wanted to make our visit a special one. And it was. Totally cool atmosphere. We got served from the owner, who was awesome. Staff was working hand in hand and you saw they like to work there. My concern was my food allergies. (No gluten, wheat, soy, dairy, peanut, canola oil, ..) And I got served my best meal ever. I had the deer steak, with grilled fennel, kohlrabi, potatoes in an awesome wine sauce. To look at the food and how they served it, was already 5 star. And it was so delicious... with the perfect light red wine from a great wine list. My husband had the steak. Perfectly cooked with great side dishes and potato gratin. We started off the meal with swedish version of hashbrowns (or latkes). This was after a long discussion as per how every meal in sweden has come with bleak roe. Finishing the meal was a truely delicious rhubarb crumble, reminding one of an apple pie with vanilla creme. It had a delightful bitterness. The secret of Gefle, which I tried to decribe to people at the table, but given I speak no Swedish, I didn't do very well. They kept telling me Gavle was spelled differently. Definitely our favorite restaurant in Gavle.
