Shortly after joining this gym and signing up for personal training, I decided to cancel my membership and my personal training sessions for a few reasons. Every time I visited either the steam room, dry sauna or hot tub were closed/out of commission. One reason I chose this gym is because they told me it is child free, however there were always kids running around in the change room as there were swimming lessons taking place. These points are the least of my concerns however. When I decided to cancel, I was directed to the general manager Justin Moxon. He had told me that he was disappointed to see me go, but he understood, he assured me my membership & personal training was to be cancelled and I would receive a refund for the personal training I had paid for. They were in fact not cancelled, I met with him on multiple occasions and he insisted that it would be cancelled and I would be issued a refund. That was back in the summer of 2025 and it is currently February 2026. The issues I had with the gym are one thing, but constantly being lied to is another issue altogether. They are currently being sued by The FTC in the US for this, so beware. read more

This is the best LA fitness in town! I travel from Los Angeles to Edmonton often and the staff here is phenomenal! I choose this location because of its size and quality of equipment! Jess A., the lovely front desk lady made my day yesterday! She is so friendly and knowledgeable, and assisted me with several questions I had about my membership. She emailed me all the information I need to upgrade my account so I can use it in California and Alberta at the best price! I noticed throughout my workout that she did a phenomenal job with the LA fitness clientele, she was popular amongst the gym goers and clearly loves her job! Love this gym. Close to my summer house, great machine and dumbbell selection. Friendly staff, and super friendly kids club staff. Gym is clean and about as busy as any average gym during busy times. The women's only gym bumped my stars up to 5. I was very impressed with this space for women to workout in a more private setting. I definitely appreciated this so I didn't have to do my sweaty crotch glute hip thrusts in front of absolutely everyone. I gave it this rating because of what they use to wipe down the equipment as well as very fee members that actually wipe down what they just used. The signs don't seem to work nor do i ever see staff walking around reminding folks to wipe. I'm going to start bringing my own rag to wipe equipment before and after my use. Also the pool needs better maintenance both in the water and around the deck. Frequently find the deck with hair and other things plus the pool gets closed during classes and folks asked to leave immediately. Must be better way to manage this read more

This is my updated review after being a member for 5 years (from when they first opened), I have decided to just cancel my membership and create my own home gym. The reason being that pre-pandemic, I had found that as more members were signed up that it was starting to get very busy in the weight section. There were actually days where there were no machines I could get on to or areas to use the free weights. It is a smaller weight area than my previous gym I used to be at. If I had the day off, I would make sure to get in early in the morning (but even the mornings it was starting to get very busy in the last year), otherwise good luck during peak time 4-8PM. So I can't imagine how that would be now with the whole social distancing thing. Also being not 24 hours, means they can't have people spread out more during a day. Second the change rooms were hit and miss with cleaning, as well lots of times they were out of paper towels to wipe down machines. When I first signed up I was told it would be adults only, I had no clue there would be a children's swim club for lessons at their pool, plus the many pre-teens in the basketball court. The Wifi sucks, I have never been able to get anything streaming on my phone. My last complaint is that compared to my previous gym, I found this place had way more people just socializing and taking up equipment, or monopolizing more than one equipment at a time. This seemed to be a bigger problem the last 2 years there than the first. People have to realize it's OK to talk to friends but leave the equipment free for those of us there that want to work out. And ya, leave the trying to pick up girls at the clubs or elsewhere (looking at you guy in the white wife beater shirt). Now the good points. Unlike some other gyms they did put accounts on hold during the shutdown. I was also able to cancel my membership very easily when they re-opened, got an email confirmation within minutes stating it was cancelled. Love this gym when compared to some I've been to all over the country. Pros: They have ample cardio machines, even during the busy times (evenings and weekends). They have a nice sauna (gender separated) and a hot tub and pool, which are usually cleaned in the mornings from what I've seen. The washrooms are clean and spacious. They have a good selection of weight machines and strength training equipment as well as a basketball court and squash courts x3. They hire good, knowledgeable personal trainers (at least in my experience) and have a little area dedicated to people who have personal trainers with some equipment and a row of mats. They also have classes that are awesome and are included in the membership which is nice like Zumba, spin Abs+ and more. Could Improve: maybe they could nix one of the rarely used squash courts and make a boxing area, I'd use it for sure! They could have a more structurally sound area for tossing medicine balls at the wall/floor. They have paper towel and dispensers to clean machines but it's a waste of paper and most people don't bother to clean because it takes too long to do it between machines. People leave dirty paper towels on the floor lots, maybe they could get wipes? The water fountains need to be fixed. Some don't work at all and most barely dispense water. A bottle filler/fountain combo would be a great addition. Overall, I enjoy coming here in the mornings because it's quiet (no kids, less people) but that's just my preference and it is fairly new with good prices but they need to keep up with repairs and suggestions for updates or they'll start to lose business. read more

Best gym around! 5 minutes from my house, and truly my happy place! The group Zumba and Body Works classes are my favourite! The instructors are personable, talented at what they do and they make working out fun!! The sauna and ladies separate room are nice compliments to the gym and the basketball court always looks busy. The custodial staff are friendly and do a solid job keeping the gym clean. I try and go 5-6 days a week and definitely miss it when I don't! Warning: Very long and detailed review based on my own experience with this gym. For a short and to the point review, go to the bottom. If you are looking at this review to determine whether or not this facility is the one for you... I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone simply because of their sale associates and how I was treated there. The facility is great in terms of equipment. There are lots of equipment to use and they are maintained pretty well. However... I have had a very bad experience with most of their staff members, especially with their sales associates AND managers. The first thing I want to place huge emphasis on is the fact that this facility's customer service is really bad. They are very good at pushing an issue to another staff and they do not follow up with you at all if you have a problem with them. When you want to schedule a time with them to discuss a problem... good luck because you are going to have to chase them down (speaking from my experience). They claim that they will "give you a call soon" but never do and that your satisfaction is their number 1 concern... but it isn't. When it comes to sales, they are way too aggressive in trying to persuade you into purchasing their membership and trainer program. This was very alarming because not only did I feel pressured to purchase and make a commitment on the spot but I was also rushed through the contract signing. This already screams red flag! Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into (especially with the PRICING of their membership AND training programs!!!) and ask to read the contract BEFORE signing!! The second thing I want to place emphasis on is the fact that most people in the sales team are not on par with each other and are not well informed of their own memberships and/or trainer programs. They all seem like they are competing for "sales" and some will NOT give you full details on the membership features on the day you purchase it. For example, if you want to purchase things like "guest privileges" they go for roughly $25 ON the DAY OF SALE and roughly $40 AFTER the day of sale. Some staff knows this... and unfortunately, some do not. So be very careful to read the fine print rather than taking the staff's word. The very last thing I want to address is their trainer program. This, honestly, is a scam. Do NOT trust their words when they tell you that the full price is less than $1000. It will never be less than that because personal trainers are really expensive. In my experience with this, Ashley (whom they say no longer works with them...), sold the trainer program to me for roughly $360. I had triple confirmed with her and the person she had called for this "deal" that the price would cover ALL 6 months and she gave me a confident "yes"... But later found that there were charges of $204.75 for each month after the initial. I admit that it was my fault for not reading the contract very very carefully and only trusted their words, but they had failed to notify me of the GRAND total which is about $1385. This is how they make money off of inexperienced gym members. Oh and if you think you can easily back out of this... you cannot. It is their "policy" that they make you pay 50% of the GRAND TOTAL. Overall, what I want people to know from what I have experienced in this gym is that: 1) They are very bad at customer service. 2) There is a lack in communication between staff members. There is a lack in knowledge in their own policies and responsibility to tell the consumer of their membership features and the pricing of trainer programs. 3) Trainer programs are REALLY expensive at the end of the 6 or 12 month (if they tell you the grand total ... or not in my case...) and you should really know your stuff BEFORE agreeing to the contract. Facility was fairly decent with limited equipment. Great place for beginners looking to get started.. but I decided to cancel my membership due to horrible miscommunicstion between management and lack of customer service. The gym charged my account for months they were closed and are STILL making me pay. Despite my efforts to be reimbursed there is to no chance of it happening. What's worse is they told me I don't have to pay and are now charging me the fees owed. Would have been a 5 star review but this lack of support and greed from upper management is a HUGE turn off. This gym is still pretty new just opening late fall 2015. I've been coming here since January. I've been to quite a few gyms over the years. YMCA, fitforless, world health club, spa lady and worked out at home. The main reason I've chosen to get a membership here is the close proximity to home and relatively affordable price. Pros: The gym is always clean with staff that come around and stack weights left out by members. There is a nice quite, private area for ladies only. 3 lane swimming pool Change rooms are spacious, clean, with lots of lockers Sauna and whirlpool Tons of cardio equipment for everyone, even when busy. Friendly staff I house daycare. A nice range of weighted machines Group classes are fun and instructors are enthusiastic. There is a small counter to buy protein drinks, healthy snacks and supplements Showers are spacious clean and private Location Personal trainers available. (At a cost for sure) Plenty of eye candy. No contract just month to month Large basketball court. Squash court Cons: Limited hours for child care Not enough group drop-in classes (times or variety) During busy hours you you have to wait to get on the equipment you want to use. There seems to be a big push to buy into personal training Weights in the lady only area only go up to 10 lbs so you have to pilfer from the floor if you want to do heavier weights in the private room. Tops lockers are so high up you have to be at least 6ft tall to get full use out of them. Weight area gets crowded during busy hours. The cost to sign up is heafty (in my opinion) probably due to fact that there is no contract Air system is wacky. It blows really hot air for a while followed by cold air. Went for a workout here with a gf this morning. The facility is huge. Lots of cardio and workout equipment. No lack of space or equipment. Everything is brand new and beautiful. The staff are super nice. After our workout we went for a swim and sat in the hot tub and steam room. read more

Like any good five star review this facility is like a Unicorn!!! I cannot say enough about the amenities available and probably won't to anybody who will listen!! The facility, staff pricing and overall organization is something I thought would be an impossible combination. The group activities room, the handball courts, trainer areas, stretching space, daycare facility like nothing I have ever seen, pool, hot tub, full size dodgeball court (oops I mean basketball court) and the changing rooms that made me feel like I was at a high end gold club. I am shocked by how much they can offer for my monthly fee and how well priced the monthly fee is for my three very small children! I have been a member of two other popular clubs and always felt there was room for improvement. Not here there was a small oversight in terms of a charge and within a few minutes of calling head office they had reversed the charges and made me feel like I had just done them a favour. The gym was ok for what I was paying but it is very crowded at peak times. The experience of trying to cancel my membership is another thing though, I was told to come in between 9-5 on weekdays only and I was told that I would have to print off their cancellation form off their website if I can't come in for their limited hours and send it in and wait 6-8 weeks for my membership to be cancelled. This is a fairly new gym opened in the northside of the city. There are many great perks about this location that other yelpers have mentioned in their review: new facility, well-kept, well-cleaned, well-managed, ample parking space, variety of workout equipment from cardio to weight training, indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, studio, indoor basketball court, sqush court stationary bike studio etc. They also have fitness classes offered throughout the day ranging from bootcamp to zumba to kickboxing. They also offer free trial ranging from three-day to one week depending on the promotional period. It is easy to sign up via their website and it is a great way to test the facility before committing with your credit card. At the initial signup, they do ask you if you will be interested in subscribing to their personal trainer program at a cost of course. But I find that is just a procedure they have to go through with every new client and they will definitely leave you alone if you tell them no thank-you. One thing I wish this gym has though is a bigger crossfit area with gymnastic rings, monkey bars, medicine balls and slam area, climbing ropes as well as punching bags and speed bags. read more

Went in to get a week trial but was sent to speak with the pushy sales rep to register with driving licence and choose a monthly plan and pushy manager to convince me to purchase one for at least $60/month. I pointed out their google website said $40/month but manager said it hasn't been updated??!!! I pointed there was a date of early this year. Then I was given only 4-day pass and appointment to meet with sales rep to purchase. I haven't even try the gym to decide is this the gym I want to join, I need to use a few times first. When I decided to use a pass 1st time on that last expire day and asked the rep to extend but she won't but want to meetup to discuss to what? Felt rushed to purchase first and was made feel uncomfortable and unwelcome to people who want to try the free pass. read more

The major benefits of this gym are definitely it's basketball court and dry sauna. Weights and cardio wise it had sufficient space and equipment. While it doesn't have a sled area like GoodLife, one reason I prefer this gym is that their washroom area is ALWAYS CLEAN unlike other LA Fitness locations and unlike Goodlife's stalls. read more

LA Fitness didn't cancel my membership and I was charged an extra THREE MONTHS as well as an annual fee in November when I asked to cancel in early September! The customer service at LA Fitness (North Edmonton location) was horrible. Extremely poor attitude and usually distracted and unhelpful After my last workout there, I asked to cancel my membership with the man working the front desk. He took my information, and told me I was all good to go, no receipt or anything, which I thought was a little weird but I trusted him. Big mistake. I called yesterday (November 14) after realizing I was still receiving charges, and then called again today to talk to a manager, and he said the only note on my account was that I called yesterday, NOT that I wanted my account cancelled three months ago! He said he would send my account to corporate and get back to me on Monday. This is ridiculous. I want my money back LA Fitness. read more

Good gym with a great location and friendly staff. Lots of room and equipment. I have complaints though * you have to use paper towels and what I think is hand sanitizer to clean the equipment. Spray bottle and towel please! * the way they designed the showers is you basically have to get naked in front of people before you jump in the shower. Not gunna happen lol * their tvs have less then ten channels. I like watching mtv or much music while I work out :) * their water fountains or water bottle refill is just a normal water fountain and one that's so small only a kid can use it. Zero stars. Worst organization I've ever signed up with. Staff are disorganized and barely compentant. If not, then they are simply choosing to play dumb to rip people off. There is no on-site managerial staff or anyone that takes responsibility for incorrect billing. Contracts are poorly explained and/or not understood by disrespectful sales staff. Most sales staff are lazy and pass the buck. They mostly sit around gossiping and eating fast food. They also blatantly duck calls when you ask for someone. I just signed up as a new member of the LA fitness on 167 avenue location in Edmonton I do not find the reception at the club very inviting most of the staff there are very rude and self centred I was at the club on the 13 th of November before 9am in the morning, that was there grand opening day. we were supposed to receive a bag and other goodies as a welcoming gift I signed up that day on a month to month basis. Do you not think new members should have been offered the free bag, lanyards, t shirts, etc as a thank you gift? I asked about the free gifts & they had the nerve to tell me they were completely out of them & they told me they only received 25 bags altogether and they were completely out. I say bulls***!! I think the club itself is very nice and clean but most of the staff need to take some public relation courses. By that I mean be more welcoming to the members. I have been going to his gym for almost a year. They have a swimming pool, basketball court, squash courts and sauna. They have a good selection of cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stair machines), two rooms, one for spin classes and one for group classes. A nice selection of weight machines and weights. They keep it pretty clean. The water fountains could be better as it makes it a little more difficult to fill up water bottles. All in all a pretty good gym. read more

Front staff and sales staff are rude. Since when did customer service not count. This is not how you retain customers - why go to a gym where staff are rude. First of all I love the facilities. It is very close to my place. But "Angelica" (in the front desk)that claimed to be the manager is incredibly rude and disrespectful. My brother and myself were treated as if we were criminals. She came to us with such aggression asking us to come back to the front and make sure we signed in. It is a part of the job which I understood clearly but isn't it also a part of the job to have some decency?!to have good manners and the most important is to provide a great service to your clients? I decided to speak with one other manager(just the manger Jeff and myself in his desk)as I was stating my situation, Angelica then came aggressively beside me with her arms crossed and started ranting about she is doing her job. She then told me " OH and if you are that sensitive, my apology" (by the way thats still when she has her head up high with what ever attitude Angelica is trying to prove me. She then threathened me and told me " I will be happy to cancel your membership and refund you one month fee" again with her aggressive attitude(not sure is she knows I have signed up for 12 month personal training) With my surprise I had to ask her myself her name information and Angelica did not even looked at me , she walked away and said have a good day, have a good day while her back is facing me. By the way... I want to remind everyone again that I am a client. I will be spreading my experience and I will never ever want to deal with LA FITNESS ever again, as I was treated by their manager in such a humiliating way. read more

This gym is wonderful. My only regret is not starting sooner. I pay 39.99/month plus an additional 20/month to bring any guest with me (max 2 at a time). Its super affordable and new. Its also pretty clean. There is so much equipment and a womens only section, hot tub and pool that is only for swimming laps. So much value and no contracts at all. No credit card required. This gym was amazingly organized when I first started in November 2015. Unfortunately, things are going rapidly downhill in the past few months. During a Body Works session, the instructor kept inviting people into the gym to the point where it was completely packed and she had to interrupt the session to search for mats. Some people left out of frustration and those who remained were clearly not happy. The water in the pool has been very cold lately so I tried calling the gym to speak to Gabriela (apparently, the manager) but to no avail. They either don't answer their phones or do not return my calls. Had to personally speak to someone when I was there (not with Gabriela) but with no guarantee the problem will be solved. read more

I worked out here for 4 months and found a lot of flaws with this gym. First off I found it to be very busy and had to wait for machines. Part of this problem was there was a lot of duplicate machines that nobody used because of there design and very few good ones. The second problem was that people would sit on machines for extended amounts of time on there phone or chit chatting with there buddies. There were also problems with people leaving weights on the bars and not knowing if the machine/bench was in use. Less than half of the members would wipe off their machines. I played around with workout times and it payed off about %30 of the time. The final reason I cancelled my membership was because of employee attitude. I was working out with my daughter and needed a straight bar for a cable machine when I noticed the only one this gym has on another cable machine that appeared to not be in use. When I attempted to retrieve the bar , a personal trainer who sitting on a machine yells from across the isle at me that it was being used. I apologize and walk back over to my machine and try to use something else. As me and my daughter work through 3 sets of 12 each I have a clear view of the neighbouring machine that was supposedly being used. This personal trainer was seated on a machine and instructing her client who apparently was doing circuit training using 2 cable machines , 1 for each set plus Dumbbells for 1 set. If you include the machine that was occupied by the trainer to sit on, that's 3 machines plus 1set of Dumbbells all for 1 person while 2 people share 1 ill equipped machine, and all when the gym is busy! I gave this gym 1 star because they have a lot of cardio machines which , ironically, have a 20 minute limit when the gym is busy! Lmao! read more
