Megan and her sister really outdid themselves with the newest Barre St. Albert location! It feels like you're walking into a magazine photo shoot - so chic! Love the gray, chandeliers, clean bright white lines in the bathroom, large vanity, 2 private showers... I good just go on and on! Megan does a great job teaching classes and comes around to make sure everyone is engaging properly. This workout is all about small movements and it can take some practice to disengage your larger muscle groups. I like how you are in complete control of how intense you want your workout to be. This location has 2 studios just like the southside Barre Studio. Only difference is it may be a little trickier to get to transit wise (in an industrial area) and does not have a Glow Juicery inside. They do have a variety of Glow juices, water, and snacks on hand, though! Great job ladies! P.S. When Megan tells you to start with 2 or 3 lbs. Dumbbells, listen to her! Amazing - from start to finish, this was a great experience. Barre Body Studio is a stunning studio located conveniently just off 111 Avenue just north of downtown. It's in a great new building surrounded by like-minded businesses with lots of parking around, both in the lot next door and the street. Inside, touches like beautiful chandeliers over the counter along with contemporary light fixtures in the studio, make for a space you want to spend more time in! The whole space is bright and cheerful! And it had the best locker room I've ever seen with soooo many lockers! I really appreciate actual lockers to store your stuff while you're in class. The actual class is a lot of fun. The best tunes ever with some really good base make for a rocking environment. It almost makes you forget about how hard you're working because you're just having a lot of fun! I found it really easy to follow along with the routine which included a lot of ballet moves, ab work, cardio and more... Which is saying a lot as I'm not really athletic or coordinated! I look forward to coming back to work on toning and strengthing... everything! You work way more than just your legs and glutes - your shoulders and abs will feeeeel it! read more

BEAUTIFUL Business is the best way I can describe this experience. The facility itself is absolutely stunning and one of two locations so I need to check out the other one now. They are owned by two beautiful and amazingly talented women. The atmosphere is welcoming and humble at the same time with its simple and effective style. Now for the workout..... Wow! The experience overall was unlike anything I'd had before. The overall warm up, muscle groups and cool down were the same theory but incorporating the different equipment and muscle groups made me feel like it would be a nice balance to the standard major muscle routine. Overall I like the idea of supporting those muscles with another kind of strength. Two thumbs up to a great place to try. Two weeks unlimited for $40 to see it and feel it would be sooooo worth it. read more

I had no idea what I was in for. I saw this place while visiting another place in this beautiful new plaza. They had a great starting rate of $55 for 3 weeks of unlimited classes. My first class was on a Tuesday at noon and was a good way to start. Small class size and I didn't feel intimidated at all. The studio is beautiful and great detail was taken to make it feel warm and inviting. The staff were amazing. They answered all my questions and gave me great advice on how to handle the class since I am out of shape. I was surprised at how deceiving the moves were. I was very challenged by everything. However, the soreness I felt the next day was perfect. Not debilitating, but every since stabilizer and large muscle was sore. I went back a second time and loved how the class was totally different moves. It's cleverly mixed as yoga, pilates and ballet. It's an excellent workout for the out of shape to the very fit. It has a lot to offer. This studio is nice, clean and well managed. They are a wonderful group that teaches a great class and cares about their clients. Update: It has been a month now and I am impressed with this studio. The staff are wonderful and each has their own unique technique. I have a lot of body work to do and suffer from a cronic hip and shoulder injury. I really need more stabilizer work and this fits the bill. Most exercises are hard, However there is always a moderated way of doing all of it. And if you need a break during the long holds take it. I am very novice, but in 4 weeks I feel amazing in the way it is helping with my strength and correcting the poor posture and injuries. Try it out and if it's not for no problem. I've been a long time fan of Barre Body in Calgary so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect, I did go after a spin class at another studio so I was already pretty tuckered out when we arrived. The studio is very nicely decorated and you can definitely see all the consistency in the brand across all the studios. The instructor was great and the class was upbeat and included weights, cardio, and the regular toning exercises the classes usually incorporate. I forgot socks today and it was nice that they let you borrow some since I own quite a few pairs and didn't want to have to purchase more just because I forgot. Barre is still one of my favourite workouts and it's nice to have a sister facility in Edmonton that I can visit. read more

Getting there, we were wondering where we were going. It's kind of tucked away beside a cemetery and in with shipping warehouses. But once you walk in, it's a lovely place! The front area has barre related clothing, water, Glow juice and grippy socks available for sale. The Glow juice was a nice touch! Toe socks, I would either order online or check Winners for, as they are very marked up on site. It's clean and bright, which is really nice, since the area around it isn't that pretty! While there's no 'change room' there's washrooms that are individual that you can change in if you have to use them as changing areas, and there are plenty of lockers available for free. If you come changed, you are good to go, and can tuck stuff away. The studio is about 70% mirrored (the two longer walls have the mirrors, but the space also has storage for weights and the door), with standard, petite and tall barres available. Our hour class started with light cardio that loosened up the joints. From there we alternated between barre related isometric workouts (focusing on short, controlled movements), and cardio workouts (jumping jacks, mountain climbers and high knees, with low impact alternatives available), finishing with a mat/floor work/cool down. I've done a few barre classes, and honestly, I've never done this much cardio in a barre class as I have here. While there is definitely some needed, that is usually done at the beginning to get the heart pumping and then maintained. This was probably the biggest draw back for me here. I found it really broke my focus on the real draw of the isometric workout, and I definitely didn't feel the workout as much as I normally do at my usual classes. read more

Barre Body Studio has made its way north of the river to bring the burn of Barre to the Northsiders! A lovely new studio is nestled in an industrial section but when you walk in it is like walking into a spa. You immediately feel relaxed and excited because if you have checked them out on the south side you know that you are in for a great workout. I really like that there are tons of free lockers and the bathroom has some necessities and a filtered water system. The studio is nice and can hold a surprising amount of people comfortably. I loved the class. The instructor was amazing and got you to work. It was a mix of cardio, barre work and stretching that left you feeling all over amazing. It was a great class because you were pushed to your edge but there was great energy in the class to keep you going. It is so exciting to have Barre Body Studio on the North Side! read more

Wow - this really is 'as good as it gets'. After doing a Yelp Fit Club session yesterday, today I went and bought a 2 week unlimited pass for $40. The workout was super intense - I was sweating buckets and couldn't maintain half the moves - BUT it was super low-impact. I don't have any sort of injuries, but my muscles have a tendency to cramp up and my lower back tends to get sore during any mat exercises. But I didn't experience any of these normal aches and pains during Barre. Just typical muscle fatigue from working those muscles good. The studio was also really nice and clean. I appreciated that lockers were free, that they had water, and I loved the hand washing station! Such a nice touch, since I always feel grimy after working out. At $20 a class ($18.50 if you get a 10 class pass), it's definitely a costly exercise regime. That said, I think if it's something you really like, it's worth the cost because you'll actually end up going (and getting that workout in). read more

All the muscles! I had the pleasure of taking a class at Barre Body, to check everything out. Boy, I sure realized quickly that I had muscles that I probably hadn't worked in a long time. I am a weight lifter normally, but I guess it would be beneficial to do more activities that focuses on other muscles and movement. Barre Body Studio is a beautiful building located is what seemed like a commercial area. No biggie, as it was super easy to find. In the front lobby, there are cubby's for your shoes, racks of clothing and toe socks, a reception desk, and coolers for Glow Juicery. The staff are super friendly, and knowledgeable. Inside the studio itself, there are 3 walls full of mirrors and the 4th wall where mats and barre balls are located. There is also an area with weights that range from 5lbs, and less. There are different heights of barres around the room too so if you're a bit shorter, or a bit taller, you're able to find a spot where you can workout with ease. The class size I was in was quite large, but everyone still had room. We did a mix of cardio, and localized isolation. Red faced, and covered in sweat, it was an amazing workout. The class lead was motivating, and non-judgemental if you couldn't keep up or do some of the exercises. I am glad I got to have this opportunity to branch out from the dumbbells and barbells that I am so used to. I wouldn't hesitate trying it out again! read more

This was my first class at Barre Body Studio. It was a big class but Megan was very patient when teaching the class. During the class we learned how to exercise some of the non-dominant muscles, some of those you don't even know you have! ;) We had lots of small and repetitive movements that help you building and strengthening muscles. The new location in the North side is awesome! Big room with mirrors and lots of light, as well as very nice washrooms. I definitely recommend to try out one of these classes! I highly recommend this studio. All instructors are fantastic and very attentive. They work you hard in a fun way. I even do the trampoline class. Megan who is one of the owners was so welcoming and kind to me. I was worried at first because I am older and wasn't sure I could keep up with the youngers but I did what I could and got stronger and everyone has been friendly. The facility is really stylish and spotlessly clean with bathrooms, lockers and showers. I am in Edmonton for 1 month only and wish I could bring the studio home with me. I have previously been here before and wrote and earlier review. It was a great class. Always like the Holland Location- clean and almost spa like feel. Megan - great barre- ista/ trainer. Class was high energy/ high tempo! Class was larger than usual but glad it was accommodating for all. I have been to both locations and both have great space and great instructors. From inside and out, it had a sleek modern look. Lots of parking and easy to find. Loved how there were free lockers with keys to use. great layout with 2 work out rooms, retail space, washroom, water/drinks/sink area. Very clean studio. Meaghan was great.
