I really enjoyed this gym. It is a good mix of free weights, and machines with dedicated spaces for calisthenics and fitness classes. The change rooms have steam rooms which are a nice touch after a good workout. I found the rates to be fair and Gabriel and his team of trainers are great! One star off because it can be very hard to get a parking space and there were a few broken machines. Otherwise this is a very good gym. read more

I must say, I am pleasantly surprised! This LA fitness location is by far one of the better locations in the DMV. I stumbled on this gym after stopping to the Springfield Mall to pick up an online order from the nearby Target. Since I was out doing weekend errands anyway and had the gym on my list of "to-do's", I figured why not stop here for a quick workout. From the beginning, I walked in and was immediately greeted by staff. The location was very open and clean, with tons of equipment and exercise machines everywhere. It is split between two levels, with the main entrance including a lounge area and most of the exercise equipment on the second level. Talk about a gym junkie' play ground. This is it all packed in a semi-small floorplan and footprint, but at the same time a well planned-out gym and layout. I consider myself a somewhat heavy lifter (375 lb Bench and up to 80lb Dumbells) and not only did they have all the weights I needed, they had a few surprise things I wasn't expecting such as CrossFit equipment and a well equipped indoor HITT training area....in addition a full basketball court! Another pet peeve of mine is clean locker rooms, a gold star for this location and clean as expected. Oh! And, let's not forget a lap pool for swim enthusiast. In all, you cannot beat this location for all the amenities that they have. Initially, the gym appears small at first glance until walk to the main lookout floor on its lower level. It is here that you can find any and everything you need to have a productive workout and change things up every now and then. The only two drawbacks that I noticed about this gym was the broken sauna and the parking which can get tight....because it is shared with the mall parking. If u accidentally make eye contact with any male, they think you're interested. Teens walk around with their portable speakers blaring music. I rarely leave reviews, but this LA Fitness location has been so consistently disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. The pool area -- which was one of the main reasons I joined -- has been shut down for months with absolutely no sign of progress or any honest communication from management. Every time I ask about it, I get a robotic "we're working on it" with no explanation, no estimated timeline, nothing. It's insulting at this point. What's worse is how unprofessional and indifferent the staff are. The front desk acts like they're doing you a favor by acknowledging your presence. I've had multiple occasions where I wasn't even greeted when checking in, and when I've brought up valid concerns -- from broken machines to dirty locker rooms -- I've either been brushed off or met with attitude. The gym itself is poorly maintained. Machines are frequently broken and stay out of order for weeks. The bathrooms and locker rooms are often dirty, with no toilet paper or soap during peak hours. Basic cleanliness seems to be optional here. You'd think for the monthly fees they charge, they'd take better care of the facility and actually communicate with their members. But instead, it feels like they just collect money and put zero effort into creating a good experience. If you're looking for a reliable gym with decent amenities, professional staff, and basic respect for your time and money -- look somewhere else. I was running late to Zumba. The person at the front desk had his head on the counter wearing a hoodie when I arrived. I had forgot to bring my phone with the app with my barcode. Aron (front desk person) said I need my drivers license. I said he could put in my phone number and see my picture with membership information. He said they don't do that anymore. I said I didn't want to walk all the way out to my car to get my license. He finally put in my phone number but was extremely rude. This place is a Scam!!! When we signed up we was told everything is good and working. But that was not the case more than half of the treadmills was broken and the pool was permanently closed until further noticed. Which was the main reason me and my family signed up for! And as soon as we noticed the next day with all the bs. Me and my family decided to cancel our membership and was met with nasty management a horrible attitude and told us off after saying quickly playing with the computer and said that our membership was cancelled. But that was not the case as we were still charged with all the charges and the extra charges for joining the gym along with reacurring charges. As furious as I was i reported it to my credit card company and they still somehow manage to lie to my credit card company to keep their charges. I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this LA Fitness location. My sisters, friends, and I came in with valid guest passes, excited to check out the gym. Instead of being welcomed, we were passive aggressively approached by the general manager, who immediately began pressuring us to sign up for memberships. He told us we either had to purchase a $20 pass, leave a 5-star review on the spot, or commit to a full membership -- otherwise, we wouldn't be allowed in. While we were still waiting on a few friends to arrive, he continued to guilt-trip us, complaining that too many people use guest passes and don't buy memberships, and that he needs to "feed his wife and kids." He then said that once our friends showed up, he planned to sit them down and give them an extensive tour and sales pitch -- or they wouldn't be allowed to enter at all. He accused us of abusing the guest pass policy even though we were following the rules. His tone was condescending and rude, repeatedly using the word "respectfully" before saying something disrespectful or dismissive. Ultimately, we were so uncomfortable with how we were being treated that we decided to leave. This is not how you treat potential customers. We came in excited and left feeling harassed and unwelcome. I hope LA Fitness takes this seriously and reevaluates how this location handles guest experiences. Edit: They very obviously have fake 5 star reviews. Use your discernment to look through those and also read peoples real experiences. The review posted after mine and my friends on google was obviously just some staff member doing damage control and they keep posting more to hide the reviews. We ALL had guest passes that we had signed up with the night before using my sisters account who had been an active member of their club for months now. On New Year's Eve, they cut the lock on my locker and cleared out all the things in the closet. Even though I received all the items in my closet, I lost my apple ear pod headphones and channel perfume. I used the Find My app and found my Ear pod somewhere far away from where I live. I'm not happy at all so I give a 1 star review because I also pay for membership, why did they clean my closet and take my things? Outdated and limited equipment. The process to sign up and cancel an account was very difficult.

At the Springfield VA mall location, the treadmills regularly shut off mid run, are going to get someone seriously hurt or killed, and end up with LA Fitness having to pay a lot of money in legal damages. This happens regularly, with different treadmills. I've brought this up but the location management isn't doing anything about it. If you use this location and end up hurt because of faulty equipment, sue. They've been notified many times. read more

I used to have a membership at the Herndon location. I was having a hard time mentally, and spent about an hour in my car before even going into the gym. The front desk staff observed this. When I walked in, one of the front desk guys condescendingly scoffed at me and said, "time to workout." He had no idea what I was going through in my car. In my opinion, front desk staff should never talk to guests that way, I thought it was rude and unprofessional. I canceled my membership shortly after. The gym should be a place of non-judgment and decompression. Instead of making me feel relaxed and welcome, he made me feel judged and belittled. I was in the DC metro for almost 10 years. I moved to Denver in 2016. Came to visit my best friend, but wanted to workout as well the week I visited. He goes to LA fitness unfortunately. They charge 20 dollars... for a day pass. Keep in mind Golds Gym charges $5. They offered to let me sign up for a 2 month membership, and to call to cancel... but then found out you have to come in to cancel. First of all it's 2022. You DO NOT HAVE TO COME IN. This is some bullsh*t scam tatic to force you to keep paying. I'm not flying form Denver to Springfield to cancel your trash membership. 2nd - They refused to provide ANYTHING in writing saying I would be able to indeed cancel my membership after a month. BUYER BEWARE - This place is a scam house. Their equipment is also absolute garbage for 20/day. It's got to be 20+ year old equipment. They also use those dumpy hex plates. They have NO regular plates, so you'll be dealing with the annoying hex plates when deadlifting. There is some annoying a** alarm that keeps chirping by the squat racks too. It's all around low rent. Save your money and go to a better gym. This place can pound sand. read more

So I thought I could try other gyms pool and change membership. Once there with a friend who is a member, I am told that guest passes won't let you use the pool (I am a swimmer!) so what's the point of guest passes. Can someone explain me? The personal training director said he would taken care of that. However, the club keeps charging me personal training fee EVERY MONTH EVEN AFTER THE CONTRACT TERM!!! ITS ADDING UP TO $1200 NOW! I called in a million times ( international calls) but the PDP seems always busy or not available and no one else could help solving the issue. For at least 4-5 times, the PDP CLAIMED HE WOULD REFUND ME THE OVERCHARGE, but NEVER DELIVERED. AGAIN, WORST SERVICE EVER!! ME AND ALL MY FRIENDS& FAMILIES WILL NEVER EVER ISE THIS FUY EVER AGAIN. I just moved to the area and am Staying at an extended stay I til we move to Maryland. I saw there is an LA fitness close to our new place so I thought I'd try this location and maybe get a jump On a membership. I came with my Toddler because I have nobody to watch him and found out the kids club isn't included with the guest trial. As I was speaking with someone about this 1) the lady at the front desk was very rude, seemed annoyed someone would want to give them business. The sales rep had the same attitude. 2) As I was speaking to a sales rep, a staff member came up with a bunch of sanitizer bottles and placed them on a table and said "this place cares more about its club than it's janitors" the lady at the front desk looked at him and gave a seemingly empty attempt at sympathy and said "awww I knooow". Seems as though the apathy at the top is effecting everyone else since their employees aren't willing to help their customers. I signed up for a personal training contract and was ensured by their sales rep that it is month to month, and I can cancel if it is not the right move for me. The contract allows 3 days to cancel, yet the sales rep assigned me to a trainer that was not available for 3 weeks after signing up; therefore, I could not evaluate. Now I am selling my house and moving to a location and no LA Fitness is within 20 miles of my new home. THEY REFUSE TO CANCEL the contract! BUYER BEWARE! This gym engages in DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES! I should have read all of the Yelp and Google reviews before being defrauded into signing up for a Personal Training membership. I signed up for: (1) a six-month contract; (2) five sessions a month plus 15 bonus sessions to use anytime; (3) with a Master Trainer; (4) for 45 minute sessions. After expressing concern that my first two sessions were only 25 minutes, LA Fitness TRANSFERRED the PT Sales Manager who made this agreement with me to another location then refused to honor the agreement. Instead, they produced a screenshot of a contract which I had NEVER SEEN BEFORE alleging that I signed up for a 12-month contract. THEY HAD TRANSFERRED MY SIGNATURE FROM THE ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE PAD TO THIS AGREEMENT WITHOUT TELLING ME AND WITHOUT PROVIDING ME A COPY OF THE AGREEMENT!!! It was only when I threatened, in writing, to sue the company for violations of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act that they agreed to terminate my contract without penalty.
