I've been a member since 2019 and I must say....I love everything about this location. The parking is across the street from the gym and we are allowed 2 free hours of parking which is more than enough for me. The workout area is great. Since it's so big I have NEVER had an experience where my work out was slowed due to availability. I thoroughly enjoy chatting with the staff and I see the efforts they make to keep the gym as neat as possible. It is disappointing to see all the negative reviews but if you can read between the lines, machines being broken, weights all over the gym, that's all member caused issues. What I do see is staff addressing things as fast as possible. If a machine is out of service for a odd length of time just ask the staff for an update and they'll gladly let you know what the delay is. This gym is like my second home, the staff and many members are like family. I highly recommend this location! read more

LA Fitness, 77 Cole Strret, Ridge Hill in Yonker, NY .....My Experience I joined the LA Fitness in Yonkers looking forward to getting back into shape. Instead, what I expected to be a simple purchase of six personal training sessions turned into months of disputed charges, repeated requests for my contract, and ultimately having to involve my bank to stop the withdrawals. On my first day, I met a trainer named Giani. He was personable, engaging, and clearly an experienced salesperson. He initially presented me with a personal training package that was far beyond my budget. When I politely declined, he brought over his manager, who lowered the price several times. Even then, I explained that the cost still wasn't something I could justify. I also explained that my hesitation wasn't just about the money. Years earlier, I had been trapped in a gym contract that kept renewing and was nearly impossible to cancel. Both Giani and his manager acknowledged that they had heard similar stories. They assured me that LA Fitness was different and even gave me a separate written document stating that once my six personal training sessions were completed, my contract would not be renewed. That reassurance is what convinced me to move forward. We ultimately agreed on $71 per one-hour session. I paid $142 that day for the first two sessions and specifically asked to be billed $71 per month for the remaining four sessions. Before leaving, I asked for a copy of my contract. Giani told me their printer wasn't working but promised to mail it to me the following day. Looking back, I wish I had insisted on receiving it before I left. What has always puzzled me is that they were able to print the separate document stating my contract would not renew after the six sessions, yet I was told they couldn't print the actual contract itself. The contract never arrived. Over the next several visits, I asked Giani for a copy of my contract multiple times and was repeatedly told the printer still wasn't working. The billing problems started almost immediately. Instead of charging me the agreed-upon $71 the following month, I was charged another $142. At first, I assumed it was simply an oversight and expected it would be corrected. When I was charged $142 again the next month, I contacted Giani and explained that I had been overcharged. I requested a credit for the extra amount. The charges continued. On June 26, Giani emailed me and stated that I had signed up for 12 personal training sessions, to be used at a rate of two sessions per month, at $71 per session. He also told me that if I wanted to end the agreement early, I would have to pay a "buyout." That email was the first time I realized that what he believed I had agreed to was completely different from what I believed I had agreed to. I had agreed to purchase six training sessions--not twelve--and I had never agreed to any buyout provision. At least I finally had some indication of what had apparently been written in the contract I was never given. It also explained why I continued to be billed and how many more months I likely would have been charged for services I never believed I had agreed to purchase. By the fifth month (last month), I had been charged $284 more than I believed we had agreed to. I contacted my bank, disputed the charges, and asked them to block any future payments from LA Fitness. When another $142 charge appeared this month, I went to my bank in person, canceled my debit card, obtained a new card number, and filed another dispute. The funds were returned to my account while the dispute was being investigated. I also called the club and spoke with someone at the front desk. I mentioned that I thought it was unprofessional that I had repeatedly been told the printer wasn't working. She responded that their printers were working just fine and that they had no issues with them. Hearing that left me wondering why I had been told for months that they couldn't print my contract. Unfortunately, even though Giani said he would email me a copy last month I still have not received it. All I have are the notes I wrote in my LA Fitness notebook on the day we reached our agreement. I have no way of knowing 100% what was actually written in the contract they have on file except the inaccurate version that Giani informed me at that If you're considering purchasing personal training at this location, my advice is simple: don't leave without a signed copy of every document you agree to, verify exactly what you will be charged and when, and keep detailed records of every conversation. Within less than 3 months, my trainer missed two sessions without notice ("no-shows"), and the quality of the training has been inconsistent and unprofessional. When I asked to cancel because I wasn't getting the proper service I paid for, they told me it was "absolutely impossible" to cancel -- no matter what the situation was. That is completely unfair and unprofessional. Customers should not be forced to continue paying for a service that is not being delivered properly. Even when the place is fairly empty many lockers are taken by those holding onto their favorites or are just broken. Too bad, the location is often ideal but the place sucks. Run far away from this location. Member since 2002!! I've never seen a bigger health hazard in my life. Forget about getting a service you pay for- such as getting in a proper workout. This post is so much more than complaining about how this is a sad excuse for a gym. This is a legitimate wake up call for someone to take accountability and step up to the plate and turn this failing "gym" around. From top to bottom, this facility is filthy, unsanitary and should not even be a functioning place. LA fitness, being a large corporation, should be ashamed of themselves. I've exhausted everything I can do- from personally placing free weights and plates back myself, to speaking to both the manager Melanie and assistant manager Christopher here and it was clear that they've heard these complaints more than 100x and every single one of those complaints fall on deaf ears. They simply don't care and it shows by the lack of improvement. They'll say what you want to hear or push responsibility along. Sad. I called Corporate headquarters (949-255-7200) and spoke to Luke recently to express my concern about how this facility is on thin ice in more ways than one. I encourage you all to do the same for the sake of your health and wellness. My next steps will be to call the Health Department and the local news because this is place is plagued with germs, unsanitary conditions and should be considered grand larceny since you can't workout due to complaints already expressed in past reviews. The feelings are unanimous and true. Both fountains barely spit out water and the filter indicators have been red since I can remember. Pretty sure not having functioning water fountains at a gym is illegal. The photos/videos I posted are just the tip of the iceberg since I really didn't have it in me to take the time and document how bad this place really is. All I wanted to do was leave because I had already wasted a lot of time looking for missing weights and trying to find a single wipe to wipe down a machine- only to find out the machine did not work properly- or at all. This gym is past laughable, it is a disgrace. I may add. The janitors, especially the older African American male does work very hard. Signature club? Please. I was just charged $10 to workout while visiting family for the holiday bc apparently this location is a signature club. The place is a dump compared to every other club that I've been to including my home club in Northern virginia. So much broken equipment, disorganized and dirty. This venue is going downhill fast due to lack of maintenance: 1- Equipment is damaged and not repaired; 2- Locker cabinets in men's locker room have been literally ripped off their hinges and are not repaired: - Have they been broken into during theft? Is my property safe? 3- The Pool, Jacuzzi, and Sauna are frequently closed due to needed repairs. 4- Most of the sinks and some of the showers are broken and/or inoperable. 5- Free weights are scattered and you have to waste time searching for barbells and dumbbells - Is the staff taking them home? So much potential, so little effort. This gym could be amazing--if only its management and staff showed a bit more pride in their work and location. Dumbbells have apparently gone on permanent vacation, machines break down and embark on retirement, and the bathrooms? Let's just say they're half functioning, with 3/4 of the sinks not working. But what truly inspired me to write this is the grand finale: NO SOAP.... anywhere. That's right--no soap to wash your hands after using the bathroom, no wipes to clean the machines. And good luck finding a working hand sanitizer dispenser. You'd think basic hygiene would be a priority at a place where sweat is encouraged. When I brought this up to management, their response was: 'Soap is on backorder' and 'All our locations are facing the same issue.' Comforting, right? This was definitely my favorite gym because of the features it included but I have no idea what's happening lately... Machines are breaking down and they are not being fixed. You have to waste time because now you have to get in queue to use the popular machines due most are broken. They need to get it together, specially now because a lot of people come to the gym on a daily basis!!!! I never leave reviews but this gym in particular is just not worth the membership and overpriced "initiation fee" scam. Just today, I've counted over 5 broken machines. The ones that do work feel awkward, and move in a very rigid/worn manner. The water fountains also do not work or have very very low pressure making them unusable. Maintenance is a joke and even if it was regularly maintained, the equipment is mediocre. Gym needs some serious upgrades and improvements. Very disappointed. read more

I typically never leave reviews but I felt like this time I needed to inform others about my experience here. For starters, their customer service needs to improve. Some of the staff members are very unprofessional and do not know the first thing about treating their customers with respect. The water fountains have no water pressure and they are grossly inadequate. Every time I went, I felt like I was constantly putting weights back where they go, even though their employees trotted past them. 80 % of the issues at this place is mismanagement of their staff and equipment and the other 20% is some members don't respect the equipment, locker rooms, sauna, and restrooms. read more

Every gym I go to people put their weights back because it's proper gym etiquette but i guess when you have people from Yonkers and the Bronx go here you can't expect that. Wow I wish I listened to these reviews, over half of the equipment in the gym is broken to the point of not functioning or missing parts. (This is no exaggeration - OVER HALF OF THE MACHINES AND CABLE EQUIPMENT ARE NOT WORKING) I really needed a gym and just signed up without inspecting every piece of equipment, but after working out for just a week over half the time I went to use a machine I had to switch to another one because it was not working. Only a few of the machines are marked for repair but the majority of them have something wrong with the weight stack, pulleys, or handles. The gym is also pretty dirty, they do not have adequate amounts of sanitizing equipment and certainly do not wash down their equipment on a daily basis. They hit you with a $180 fee upon signing up, which is the initiation fee and 3 months of membership. (even though the monthly membership is only $40) This includes 2 free guests every time you visit, so I anticipate them pulling the rug on that promotion soon in an attempt to get people into this atrocity of a gym. I used to workout at a much more expensive gym, but had to relocate and the options in this area are very limited. Blink fitness has functioning equipment but is way too crowded. On top of this, the parking situation is atrocious. You can spend 10 minutes driving up and down a parking garage, or park in the further garage and spend 5 minutes parking and then walking. read more

A majority of the machines are either out of service, scheduled for service, or missing knobs to make weight adjustments to workouts. It can cause serious injury & impact workouts. I would recommend using another gym in a cheaper price point for the offerings this location. While other LA Fitness gyms are slightly smaller, they offer the same amenities & machines that function properly & are not constantly out-of-commission. Unless you have time to look for weights, parts to adjust weight, or repair machines, I wouldn't waste my time. read more

This gym is the absolute Wild West. There are weights absolutely everywhere. There are never any attachments for any one of the 10 cable machines. The people are vicious. The staff are super unhelpful. Half the machines are broken or unusable. The only reason why this place is getting three stars is because of the sauna & hot tub/pool. Please do something. read more

I started my membership May 2021. It's been 3 months and most if not all of the cardio machines (stairmaster, treadmills, bicycles, ellipticals)are out of service. I spoke to one of the reps and was advised it would take a while. When pressed for a specific time frame he couldn't give me an answer. Not to mention that weights are never racked. He said we are currently understaffed, which quite frankly is not my issue because I pay full membership for these "benefits." The pool is overcrowded, the water is not clean and extremely warm. There are only three lanes and two were always occupied. The two lanes were reserved for other swim schools and it was a mystery when they would show up. They showed up very often and were given priority over LA Fitness members. This meant that one lane was left open and a long wait. The lifeguards are usually in a corner paying attention to their cellphones. This is an eye popping concern as anyone can have a medical emergency, including seasoned swimmers. It appears that management and corporate do not care because this happened quite often, even after I raised my concerns with management in the gym and corporate. I would strongly recommend using another gym and pool. read more

I've been coming to this gym over 6 years now and today was such an annoying experience. Let me set the scene - with the new parking updates at Ridge Hill, the gym implemented a kiosk to validate your parking, which is at front desk but off to the side and separate from the regular check-in section. My fiancé and I arrived at the gym, I'm the lead member and he is my declared guest (his name is listed on my account as a designated guest) We both stepped up to the check-in counter, the girl checked me in, then my fiancé walked over to validate the parking. I stayed right to the side of check-in waiting for him. When he walked over to me, the girl shouted to him asking who he was and he didn't check-in. So I interjected and said "oh yes, he's my guest" (as I normally do, then I would just give his name) But before I could give his name, she then yelled at me and said "well excuse me who are you, you didn't sign in either" I paused, wondering if she was joking, as I said she literally checked me in less than 30 seconds ago. So I said to her, "you just checked me in, I am a member" she then said "well who are you" At that point more folks started trickling in. I felt embarrassed for the fact, she for one did not believe me, or was even paying attention and doing her job correctly to remember who she is swiping in. I of course had to provide my name and then she said "let me check....oh yeh I did sign you in, who is your guest" At that point I was waiting for an apology. None came. I gave my fiancé's name and headed to the workout area. After my workout, I proceeded to leave feedback for the gym about my experience. I already came to the conclusion that the situation would have been handled differently had I been of a different race. From questioning me about who I was, to not believing that I was actually a member (like who drives hours to sneak into a gym) About 6 hours later, I received a call from a Christopher Peña who I assume is on the management team of the gym there. The conversation was pointless. He was so defensive after I explained the above scenario. He too started yelling at me, saying the girl was not wrong for how she handled speaking to myself and my fiancé. It was then I realized this was a losing battle. The management team there needs proper training. Had it been a gym member of a different race, the situation would have been handled differently. This location is awesome. I signed up for a free guest pass. As soon as I did I got a call from the gym manager, Robert. We set up an appointment for a tour. The tour was all encompassing we went over everything and he answered all my questions! I ended up not using my pass and signed up for a membership right there and then. The membership I have allows me to bring two guests! They also have a food bar where you could get juices and healthy meals as well. From the two times I've gone I've notice the gym itself has a lot of machines both quantity and quality. I think the only thing that I saw that was not working as of yet is 1/3 of the rowing machine wasn't operational. They offer many classes which is a plus. There's a pool and sauna there. I wouldn't suggest going swimming unless you fully know how to swim. The times I've gone there I've noticed the lifeguard is paying more attention to his/her cellphone more than the swimmers. read more

The sales people were no help with my billing issue. I called and spoke to 3 different people. One of this people said I was never even charged the amount that I was looking for a refund on. Each person I spoke to said they needed to speak to someone else even though they are all mangers supposedly. The situation hasn't even been fixed and it's been a month. LA FITNESS in Yonkers has been remodeled. But there are still a number of weight machines still broken. The bathroom is still filthy. The Management and the Minions are now walking the gym floor harassing people as they workout. One manager told me that my gym bag "MUST" be placed in a locker. But in the same encounter it was made clear to me via management that the gym would not be responsible for any property stolen from a locker. This is the same gym that the people steals the PINS and various straps and other items. So according to Management I should feel safe and comfortable with my gym bag in their locker. This gym needs a "CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT". The gym has been remodeled but as the old saying goes "YOU CAN'T PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG ", because at the end of the day it's still a PIG. read more

My wife signed up for a membership, and was hustled into taking training sessions. She started going the very next day, and took a training session. She had gone about 8 or 9 times including training in the first 14 days. She developed chronic bronchitis, and couldn't continue. The membership costs about $40/month. The training sessions cost more than $3000 payable in the first 5 months. Although the people are nice, they instantly become cutthroat when it comes to money. We've been trying to get a full refund since before the second payment, but to no avail. read more

Ok another update. I will be canceling my membership. The spin 4oom has been closed for a few weeks now due to ????? Being dirty? Having Mold? Who knows. No one will give you a straight answer. But even before closing the room. I was on the brink of canceling. The spin instructor Maria is the WORST. And for some reason, she gets all the classes every evening. I find myself paying to go to SOUL just to avoid her classes. And also I got another severe ear infection from the pool. Dirty much. It (the pool) got better. For a short time. Then it was back to being dirty. Seeing actual dirt on the bottom and swimming into hair, band aids, and just general nastiness. I do not understand why they do not have the guards vacuum the pool during their shift and skim it. But I guess that would mean they need to get off their phones. Actually walk around more than the once an hr when they test the ph. I see them in their corner desk with their face in their phones the whole time I am doing my mile. Good thing no one has ever been in distress. It would take the guards a while to notice. That would mean picking their head up from the phone. They must put an alert on the phones for once an hr. Other than that they are in la la land. So here I am. Belonging to a gym that has a spin room that is closed because of poor conditions. And a pool that is dirty. Ummmmm.
