This is the best coffee in town. It's a very relaxing environment and the people that work there are very nice and welcoming.

After reading a few of the reviews on here, I felt I must have been on an odd day since my opinions…read moredo not parallel the rest. But the previous reviews are 2010-2013... SO, 2 YEARS LATER..... Wednesday afternoon I came here and making my way to a nearby hotel. I would have dined somewhere else if there were anywhere available nearby but decided to take a chance here. I wish I ventured somewhere else. The place was spacious and had lots of food to order. However, what is the point of space when practically no one is there to attend to you. The waitress or cashier, saw us for a few minutes, nobody bothered. We had to go to them and ask them for a menu and order. by this point i lost interest and decided to take away. While waiting, I decided to buy a 1.5LT Evian bottle (NOT THE LARGEST) . This woman looked at me and said one moment, I asked how much it was and she left me and took another lady talking in their dialect and looked at me. She said it was £3,20. I buy the very same thing for £1.90.... I paid it annoyed because it wasn't even cooled and i didnt see the reason of it being so pricey. Moving onto the food, we purchased and paid. We ate and the amount of dark sauce swimming around the "FRIED NOODLE" made us think we ordered noodle soup instead. I mean as we opened the Tupperware, the black sauce was oozing out and it seemed like it was more of noodle soup than black bean soup. I order Pork chop with rice. It arrived as RICE AT THE BOTTOM, GRAVY AND 2 MASHED WHATEVER. The only good food we order was the vegs spring rolls and squid balls. Barely edible. I hate low reviews but this one, it had to be done.

It reminds me a bit of a cafeteria, which is fine. Service is quick and meals are very reasonable. The menu is HUGE with a variety of Chinese, Thai and Malaysian cuisines. We got a few starters as well as mains, all of which were tasty. They do have beers and wine as well as non-alcoholic choices. Service it's spot on and friendly. The restaurant brings in a mixed crowd and there were a few people stopping by for take-away. And with two hour parking available at Homebase plus multiple buses nearby, it's an easy to access sorry if place. Along with the restaurant, there also exists a bakery, which was closed in the evening. Might have to check it out!

We made an appointment and went for a tasting and planning meeting at her house, it felt more like popping round to a friends house for a chat about our wedding plans really. So relaxed and no pressure. Out came all the flavour samples and that was it, we knew she'd be making our cake, now all we had to do was choose a design!! There are loads to choose from, we chose one quite quickly as I'd already had my eye on it at the wedding fair, but we were able to customise it to suit our wedding colours. Jackie sourced ribbon and diamantés to match our theme and they were perfect. She sent pics of the cake the night before the wedding and I was so pleased, even more so when I saw it on the day. Then there was the taste test...... AMAZING!!! Best cake EVER! We had a 5 tier cake with a combination of flavours from top to bottom... Victoria sponge, lemon, chocolate orange, chocolate and Victoria sponge. Because we didn't have fruit cake the bottom two tiers were polystyrene so that the cake didn't sink and Jackie made cutting bars that were kept in the kitchen to be cut up later on. The cake was a hit with us and our guests. We kept the top tier and froze it so we could relax and enjoy it when we returned from honeymoon. We didn't actually defrost it until about 2 months later and the cake was still as amazing as on our wedding day. I highly recommend Cakes by Jackie not only for her designs and amazing cake taste but also her friendly welcome and fantastic value. Thank you So much Jackie. X

This is a tidy, open space along a strip of somewhat underwhelming shops in Hendon. I was glad to…read morehave found it. The pastries are gorgeous, and, for the calorie and coin counter, some are 'mini' versions of the usual-sized goodies (think: croissants, pain au chocos, and sows' ears--don't know what ya'll call 'em here) at a fraction of the price. The loaves of bread (challah, white, wheat, light rye) seem to come both bagged and unbagged. The bagels are displayed in open baskets out on the floor and appear to be sold singly. Help yourself...to a pair of tongs! I was surprised and happy to see the tongs. Too bad there weren't any judiciously placed near the unbagged loaves. I stood next to a man who picked up around five separate loaves of wheat (and one bagette) in both hands in order to caress their middles and squeeze gently on their crusts. At one point it looked as if he were going to bring a loaf up to his ear. I expect he was hoping to hear the ocean. After all the fingering, he actually bought one! I bought a small, bagged rye loaf for £1.55. After watching the 'Bread Whisperer' do his thing on the wheat loaves, I left the naked bagels untouched. I'll be back, however, for some Hammentaschen and mini sows' ears!

A gem for cheap East/South East Asian food if you live nearby…read more Been here on numerous occasions for lunch on weekends. Parking is tricky but if you need to grab something from Homebase next door you can park as long as you like for free. Being vegetarians there were enough veggie options for starters and mains. We normally skip starters as the portions for the mains are generous. The service is generally quick and staff are friendly. Our top recommendation is the Wonderful Laksa - you'll need a cold drink, tissue and regular breaks but so worth it! Being Malaysian this is quite similar to the laksa you find at hawkers on the street - pretty authentic. At £6 for the veggie version it won't break the bank either. Another recommendation is the kuey teow (flat stir fried hor fun noodles) The pad Thai and Tom Yam are alright. Definitely try out the weird and wonderful drinks at the fridge (assam milk tea, coconut water with black sesame, malted soya milk) Never tried the pastry so can't comment. All in all, a great Asian restaurant!
