Being cuban I wanted to see if the cultural food would be similar s most my ancestors come from spain. The location was cozy. I really enjoyed the way the restaurant is laid out. It's small but very inviting. Nice decor from the island and many photos paying homage to cuban known people. Colorful and full of cuban flavor. The service was great the host/bartender maybe owner? Was extremely welcoming and a nice guy. We sat upstairs and our waiter was also very friendly. Food was ok. We ordered the congri with ropa vieja and yuca. The rice was good, the ropa vieja was lacking flavor. I think it wasn't a traditional recipe or it was lacking tomato sauce. It was a bit bland. The yuca was nice and soft but it was also missing the traditional garlic sofrito you would add on top to give it that pop. Overall the food was ok but not what i was hoping for. We also ordered their pudding de guayaba and flan de coco. Both were very delicious. Great flavors not overwhelming.

The BEANS ....we ordered second portions - for those who know me I'm am extremely particular about beans! YUM! We ate we laughed we felt blessed to have come across this miracle.

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! The feta cheese was absolutely disgusting, it tasted like imitation rubber cheese. - The "Al Ajillo" Style Shrimps (GAMBES AMB ALLADA) had a very strange flavor within it, which overwhelmed the garlic flavors. - The Beef Tenderloin (FILET VEDELLA), she had to spit 1/4 of it out because it was too tough. - Everything was overpriced there for the value. I'm here to tell you that the tapas were tapa-ing hardcore. They were simply scrumptious! Saw this place during my walk down Rambla de Catalunya. It's perfectly tucked right in the heart of the busy street, and they have a lovely patio area that's right in the thick of it all. Unfortunately, the patio was full and busy, so I opted for a table inside. Definitely wasn't a bad choice. Their interior is so cute and cozy! The Spanish bodega vibes were swarming all over the place. I just loved it. I've learned that the service element in Spain is generally very different from the US. In saying this; don't expect to be wowed by the service here. But the tapas are truly scrumptious! I enjoyed the followed tapas: Grilled prawns - Geeeezuuus! These were mouthwatering! I grew up eating prawns without the heads and skins on, but now I understand why they keep them on here. The prawn heads preserve all of the juiciness and flavors. These were cooked and seasoned perfectly and I could not get enough. Fried potatoes - Amazing! I've had these at Spanish restaurants in the US, but there really IS a difference in the way that they're prepared here. The crispiness is just delightful, but it's the sauces that really did it for me. Not sure what kind of sauces were used (one red and one white) but they added a beautiful taste to these already yummy potatoes. Meat croquettes - Scrumptious! These croquettes have a mix of minced meats inside that are so tender and flavorful. And the breading is absolutely perfect. They paired perfectly with my wine too. Speaking of wine; the Spanish red wine that I had was dynamite! Can't comment on the specific varietal but it was so smooth and silky. I meeeaan... dinner was delicious!!! They set the bar pretty high for the restaurants that followed. Although the service wasn't the best, the wine and tapas most certainly impressed. I'd come back for more of those tasty tapas any day.

Yeah well, I…read morecame here because I heard they had a good "Cubano." ...and I've been hankering for a good Cubano. We're talking about ham, lechón (roast pork), pickle and mustard on a really good bread, the outside toasted to perfection. So a little background first - the place really does look like many other mom and pop dive-y restaurant bars in Barcelona. There are ample tables inside, and a number more outside, just across a quiet street. The owner/waiter seems like a really nice guy, and originally hails from Havana. So I guess you'd expect him to know about a good Cubano. So take a look at the photos. These things are HUGE! (Note: If you get a whole one, be sure to ask them to package half of it to go.) I wound up removing about 2/3 of the ham and eating it separately, as I found it tended to overwhelm the lechón. Also, you have to add your own mustard (there's plenty of mustard, mayo and ketchup at table, but anything other than mustard is *anathema* on a Cubano. Oh, they also have a nice selection of beers, including a Belgian IPA on tap! If you have room for (and want) a dessert, you'll have to get there early as they tend to run out. Oh, and their coffee is every bit as good as their sandwich. So... I'm looking forward to a return visit!
