Oh my goodness this is so good. If I ever go to Barcelona again I would come here. Must get: Steak with foie gras on bread 8/10: sooo decadent and luxurious. It's abt 8 euros a piece. Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! This is the first restaurant I stopped at for some tapas during my trip to Barcelona and it spoiled me. I ordered a few things so let me talk about each one. Ham & Chicken Croquette: This was too good for how small it was. Just a nice potato croquette filled with some great quality ham and chicken. It was akin to a cordon bleu. White Asparagus with Baby Beans and Ham: This one floored me. Tender white asparagus in a vinegar based sauce with some tender ham and beans. I could have had two orders of this. Pulpo (Octopus) with Pork Belly: Not the best Pulpo of the trip but it sure set the standard. The octopus was unbelievably tender and you can just taste how fresh it is. The pork belly slice almost felt like an odd choice here to be honest. I didn't really know how to eat it with the pulpo since it overpowered it. The pork belly itself wasn't very impressive either so I kinda brushed it off at the end. It was a bit dry at some parts and just kept throwing me off. Gambas roja a la plancha: Prawns are EVERYWHERE here and they know how to cook them. These were tasty but not the freshest or most flavorful I had this trip either. Always eat the shell! Scallops a la plancha in a leek-apple based sauce with bits of crisped ham: This dish on its own makes this place a 5. The sauce is DIVINE. It's a little sweet and creamy to contrast the savory, perfectly cooked scallops swimming in it. The crunchy bits of ham give you a nice texture surprise with some much needed salt to balance it all out. These scallops practically melted in my mouth with each bite. This is a must try. Beef filet and foie gras montadito: Basically steak and foie gras on a toasty slice of bread. Honestly? This was the weakest dish here. The steak itself was just okay and I didn't really like the foie gras. It was like a very gamey butter. I'm sure it has its applications but it just felt like too much going on here. I'd pass on it. Chocolate in 3 textures: So for dessert I wanted chocolate so I went for the choco bomb. It was okay. I guess the three textures were the ganache, mousse, and wafers? It just reminded me of an elevated chocolate wafer bar like one from Loaker. I'd also pass on this dessert. My server was lovely and the atmosphere here is vibrant. Though there were few misses I would absolutely eat here again and get the things I loved but switch up the rest. That's part of the fun in tapas anyway. read more

First time in Barcelona and first time time here. It was a fun experience with some good service and delicious food. Sit inside if you do not like cigarette smoke, which does occur. For an early dinner by Spanish time, we started with the croquettes. Crip and wonderful. Then the tenderloin which was taste as well, though we should have a sales what is on the top. It seemed like mostly a flavored fat. The tomato with toast was lovely. Soaked with natural tomato juice. The skewered prawns were the best. Get them. And we ended with coconut pudding. Walking down the street on Rambla and a "Huge Line" has gathered outside Cerveseria Catalana. Something special must be happening here to have this big of a crowd waiting. My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. It's been a decade since I came here for my first Tapas in BCN. This is where I realized there was a lot of my peeps that works there and it's nice to feel at home, lol. This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. Amazing catalan food served here. We stopped by on a weekend and had a wait of about 20 mins and still got seated at the bar. We ordered their sangria and tapas - shrimp skewers, red sausage baguette with peppers and aioli, prawns croquettes, catalan style chicken thigh, mini hamburger along with some bread. Every dish was delicious and full of flavors. Hard to pick a favorite. The place is huge but its busy with large and small groups of people. This is definitely a hot spot Spanish Tapas and Paella dishes! Be sure to place your name on the waitlist and wait for about 20-30 minutes (the hostess will provide you with an accurate time frame). The biggest challenge is waiting for your name to be called. There is a spacious outdoor seating and the indoor seating area is deceptively large. I highly recommend their beef tenderloin with foie gras on a piece of toast. The meat is tender and juicy, and the fatty liver melts into your steak! This was the best dish on the menu. It was 8 pm on a Monday evening, and they were completely sold out of several items including the suckling pig . We tried the grilled Spanish shrimp, which included six pieces of whole red shrimp. These delicious shrimp heads were absolutely delicious. The octopus and shrimp skewers were tasty, but tasted the same as the seafood salad dish. We found Cerveaeria doing our research and reviewing the Yelp reviews we know it was going to be a stop during our trip. When we got to the restaurant there was a long wait but the restaurant is really big and they are very efficient at getting you settled in. We did not wait too long but the wait was well worth it. Once seated our service was very good and helpful and explained the menu items. This really help us understand the tapas. We choose Cerveaeria because of the large list of Tapas. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chef make the dishs this was a nice treat. We started with some drinks I got a local IPA and my wife got a Tinto de Verano. We ordered several tapas. Flying solo and I'm not the most adventurous so it was wonderful to have this restaurant just a few blocks away from my hotel. Yes, there is a wait as other helpers have noted but I was there "early" around 7:30 so the wait was about 10 minutes max. I was seated at the counter and was able to see some of the cold items displayed. After ordering my sangria, my potato omelette with jamon arrived along with a seafood salad the dish sitting atop a slice of bread. The seafood is the imitation crab mixed with corn. Both items were very good. I especially enjoyed the omelette because of the tenderness in the preparation and seasoning. Being on vacation, salads are not always abundant so it was nice to order this salad with baby gem, fresh anchovies, tomatoes and strawberries. Very fresh and good. Fresh anchovies have none of the saltiness of the preserved version. A mini cheeseburger spoke to me as well as one more dish of veggies; shishito peppers. This is the first Spanish tapas restaurant that I went to in Spain. It was absolutely delicious and I think a hidden gem. I'm not very big on eggs, except to have them scrambled. When I sat down at the counter, the bartender said he would walk me through the menu And help me order the best items. When the potatoes came out with an egg on top before I could even say anything, he broke the egg and let it roll down over each crispy piece of the potatoes. It was absolutely delicious. Wow Wow Wow! Heard that this was a must visit restaurant in Barcelona. Not having reservations and we were nearby thought we would try our luck at the last minute. My foodie friend swears by this place--she ate here twice on her last Barcelona trip. With that endorsement, it was an easy choice for dinner after Casa Batlló. We kicked things off by ordering a bunch of random dishes, then kept going round after round. Two hours later, we were stuffed but happy. The servers were friendly, never rushed us, and were busy but always there when needed. We walked in at 6:30 PM and got seated immediately--by 8:30 PM, there was a crowd waiting outside. Lucky us! The bread pudding is the best I've ever had, the three-texture chocolate is divine, and the churros? Perfection. Save room. You won't regret it. Best of all? The bill was under €80. Two months ago during my Barcelona trip, we visited this restaurant three times for dinner. You can tell how great this place was! Almost every night, there was a queue but we didn't have to wait very long(10-15 minutes at most). All the tapa dishes were great. The razor clams, galican clams, small fishes and calamari were fresh. The beef tenderloin with foie gras, patata bravas, mini cheeseburger sliders, chicken croquettes, tomato bread, padron peppers and cod fish with honey allioli were delicious. The Torrija cremada de Sta. Teresa was one of the best desserts I've ever had and it's 100 times better than a regular bread pudding! The red sangria was also top notch! During our second visit, the bar waitstaff even gave us a complimentary Spanish omelette on the house! Service was exceptional, staff was friendly, and the food was wonderful! I will start with the bad: it is extremely busy, and it feels rushed. Not the kind of place to have a leisurely dinner. The pace is frenetic, and everybody looks very stressed out. It also appears that there aren't all that many locals: lots of Americans, people from Asia, etc... This is one of the best meals I've had in a very long time: every single thing we ordered on the menu was delicious. They specialize in this sort of dish where you order a hot or cold meat, fish, or vegetable, and they put it on a very thinly sliced, baked baguette. Ranges from 2 to 5 euros. Then, they have larger dishes as well. Cuts of meat, grilled seafood, lots of different meats and vegetables that are all small plates. I was extremely impressed. This spot came highly recommended and rated amongst visitors, so we came here for brunch. It was still early at 10am, so most people were still having the breakfast menu. Nonetheless, they still offered many of the tapa dishes as well. We ordered the Beef Tenderloin Montadito with Foie (€7.10), Bravas Potatoes (€4.95), Iberian Ham Dish (€13.55), Crab with Prawn Montadito (€2.65), and Grilled Beef Tenderloin Flautas (€10.40). Everything was pretty good, but wasn't as amazing as people hyped it up to me. Maybe it's more popular for its seafood items. Anyways, I was most excited for the beef tenderloin with foie the most, but was a bit disappointed with the beef. The beef in both the montadito and flauta was so chewy that it was actually difficult to eat. I do love how much foie gras you get, but the beef part was a let down. Maybe it was a bad day because friend that been previously said it was very tender. While the food was good, it wasn't anything spectacular. The cod miel (honey cod) was a favorite and ordered by every table. We absolutely loved our meal here! I understand why it's so popular. I came by Sunday afternoon around 1:30 and there was a massive group of people standing outside. I asked around, and it turns out you have to put your name down with the hostess, and she'll call your name when your table is ready. I was expecting a super long wait, but she estimated a wait time of 15-20 minutes, which turned out to be pretty accurate. It's a big restaurant and they're pretty quick about getting the food out to you, so I guess the wait isn't as bad as it looks. We started with drinks, a small beer for him for 2.75€ and a cup of sangria for me for 5.50€. Both were delicious, though I felt the sangria was light on wine. Their food menu is consists of 2 parts: permanent items and a large selection of rotating daily items. Everything on the menu looked amazing, but sadly we were just two people and were limited in what we could order. From their bestsellers menu, we tried the beef tenderloin montadito with foie (7.15€), prawns skewer mantadito (5.40€), and the "Cabreaos" style eggs (6.95€). From the daily menu, we tried the lobster rice (9.50€), potato omelette with onion and mushroom (5.50€), and the grilled seafood platter (11€). For dessert, we had the torrija (3.35€) and coconut pudding (3.35€). The standouts for me were definitely the beef tenderloin montadito with foie and the two desserts. The beef was super soft and tender and paired perfectly with the giant chunk of foie gras on top. And I was absolutely obsessed with the torrija, which was a bit similar to french toast but with more custard, so much so that I had torrija two more times in Barcelona before we left Spain. Literally every bite of both desserts had us going WOW!! The "Cabreaos" style eggs were also very interesting. It's essentially thin french fries served with eggs over easy on top along with some sauce, and they mix it in front of you. Would definitely recommend this as well. Everything else was also really good, but rice is rice and grilled seafood is grilled seafood. Nothing super exciting, but everything was fresh and well executed here. read more
