Checked out this brewery in Freeport after coming across other places that had their beers…read more Generations is one of the main reasons to come here. It certainly has quite a few things on tap. A lot more in cans. They also have a few snacks. By the looks of the outside it wasn't anything special, just like a warehouse or something common. It's a lot more interesting inside. The taproom has enough room for the bar, and quite a few tables. Got a view into the back to see where the beers are made. There's a balcony where bands can play live music too. Beers are why people come of course. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we had of these was the Tawny Ale. This is an Irish Red of medium strength. It's about $12 for a soft pretzel. These are massive so they're great for sharing. One of the dips looked like peanut butter. This was actually fudge if you can believe it, and you can get cheese as well as mustard. For sure it's one of this city's main attractions. It's got lots of beers, and because it's in the Pretzel City, get one of those to munch on. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

They have a variety of beers and one named after Freeport the Pretzel City! They have lagers, pilsners and ales. The environment is relaxing and the building stands out ! Since the main road is under construction , GPS did not help, but after we realized it kept rerouting us to the closed road. If in the area, stop in. Also their beer can be found in many locations in the Rockford area and some Binnys.

So there has always been a lot of hype around this restaurant in Freeport, and I was looking…read moreforward to taking my mother out for a nice meal. Our entire party was very disappointed. The food, while edible, was not up to par with the pricing. It's as if the restaurant wants to be high end, but doesn't quite hit the mark with the food. Our appetizer, baked Brie with apples, was served on a black plate that honestly, looked filthy. The rim of the plate was greasy and smudged all over. The Brie had some limp, mixed lettuce as a garnish (that should have been a clue as to the level of attention the kitchen pays to presentation). Further, there wasn't any melted Brie in there, but there was Brie rind. The onion mushroom soup was salty, and all the onions and mushrooms were invisible, having been pulverized into the broth. The servers brought the food out like they were dropping a book on the table. One of the salads ordered, was not delivered with the rest of the food- not sure if the waitress of the kitchen screwed that up. The drinks were okay- they were the only thing not sub-standard. I'm giving this 2 stars because the building interior is historic and beautiful, the chairs were comfortable, and the cocktails were fine. It would be a nice place to have pre-dinner cocktails, but I strongly suggest you go somewhere else for your dinner.

Service is always exceptional. Menu supplemented with great specials allows for either small…read morebites or a complete meal. Im addicted to the creamy onion & mushroom soup. Thursday taco night has unique options. Delectable desserts. Definitely a favorite place to unwind.

Prior to moving out of Freeport I used to eat there on a regular basis. Everything we ordered was always delicious. We would take out of town family there as well as our kids. It's my opinion that La Patrona is the best Mexican Restaurant in Freeport. A couple of shout outs off the menu. The Queso Fundido is a must. It's absolutely delicious and has resulted in playful table fighting over whom gets the last of it. It comes with tortillas, but we like to dip chips in it. My favorite meal is the Enchiladas Suizas. They're so delicious with a great sauce and the beef and chicken was always flavorful. My lady's favorite is the Pollo Loco. She likes it so much that if I had to order for her, I know that I can get this and not have to worry that she won't love it. It's a total win. The only issue I have with El Patrona is that it can get very loud, and it makes it hard to have a conversation with others at your table. Other than that, it's a great restaurant with amazing food. Definitely worth eating at.

Unfortunately, I have a dairy allergy and asked them to take off the sour cream and cheese and they didn't. So basically half my meal was wasted, and we didn't find out until later so I couldn't exchange it. We were in a rush, and they took longer than they told us to prepare our food, so if you're in a rush, definitely call ahead earlier than you think. They are pricy in my mind (2 of us for lunch paid over $40) but the portion sizes were quite large. This might have just been a one time bad experience, so we will try to come again to see if it's any better.
