Being from Texas and after eating Tex-Mex all my life, good and bad. I was not expecting much in the way of authenticity. I was thrilled to like the place from the minute my guest and I walked through the door. We were politely and thoughtful seated without delay, served with chips and salsa and had our drink order taken all within minutes of arrival. Pleasant atmosphere, clean and well maintained. And then there was the food!! Homemade salsa that was very good, even if it was served cool. We split an order of fajitas, beef & chicken. It was accompanied by a healthy size of refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, and chopped lettuce. All fresh and delicious. The Flour tortillas could be homemade, being warm and fresh tasting, perfect for rolling the really, really good meat along with the grilled to perfection along with peppers and onion, all served served on a sizzling skillet. The order fed 2 and we took a wee bit of the meat with us. I will go back, but this time, I am getting my own order! read more

This is a very good place to get some good Mexican food. Closer to authentic than any other place I've been in the south so far. We had the Al pastor taco plate #70 and it was 3 larger tacos (bigger than the traditional street tacos) the Al pastor was seasoned good and I asked them to chop it a bit more than they usually do since I don't like bigger chunks of meat in my taco. It comes with rice and beans and also a tomatillo salsa that is super spicy and amazing!!! We also ordered cheese dip which is a white queso and oh so yummy. Stopped in this restaurant for a late dinner after a 12 hour day of driving. Didn't expect much except some fast basic Mexican food. Boy was i surprised. The tacos al pastor were SPECTACULAR. The bathrooms had no paper towels. Ordered a burrito that was supposed to have peppers in it and a chili rellano came out wrapped in a tortilla I don't like chili rellano's sooooo there's that. We ordered two of these burrito's and our bill came out to $40+ tell me how that math works out? An older man next to us did not order what was served to him, he asked to have it replaced with what he actually wanted and the waiter brought a menu over and told him he got exactly what he ordered, if he wanted something different, that's a whole new order (basically getting charged for both) Don't recommend this place read more

We were passing by on our way back to Dallas and looking for something good to eat. La Hacienda had great reviews so we stopped to give it a try. We are so glad that we did! Juan was immediately attentive and hospitable. We stared off with the queso fundido and it was AMAZING! We also had the fajita steak, chicken and shrimp nachos which were so impressive. Very large portion and so delicious. That was really enough for us and my daugter to share with the fundido but bc we didn't know the potion sizes were so generous she did have the Mexican pizza which was also great and a very generous portion. The food was "okay". Nothing bad, but nothing to brag about either. Always nice to have a 2 for 1 margarita option which was not offered. The service could use some improvement. The staff was not very attentive, friendly, or appreciative. Restaurant management should remember that it's good to get someone's money, but better to earn their return business. read more

I have never left a negative review. This is my 1st. We had to walk out due to the poor service. The wait staff came to our table about once every 8 minutes. The order was incomplete, wrong tortillas, wrong sides, no water; after asking twice. I got up to tell the hostess we needed somebody to wait on us. Finally we got up to leave. I was going to pay for the margaritas that we drank, and the appetizers. Nothing else. Our waiter was working the cash register, and he looked at me and then tells me he'll be right with me. I told him that it's to late. To close me out. Everyone looked at me and then him. He asked; in front of the other customers, what was wrong? And I told him. Walked in usual was not greeted . It took a few and we were seated . As my party was sat I went to the restroom . The ladies room needed lots of attention. Trash was running over and it was not tidy . I then went to our table where cold chips and hot sauce was provided. I was not a fan of either the chips nor hot sauce 2/10. Drink orders were then taken by our waiter.As we await our drinks I notice the hostess at the bar chopping lemons with no gloves and placing them with bare hands in a container. Drinks came and we then ordered . Food came out in a reasonable time and presentation was a 7/10 . So food was prepared hot but it was cheap quality and lacked flavor . I would rate food a 3.5/10 . As the waiter was brining the remainder of the food I requested the check. He must have noticed my displeasure and asked was the food good I honestly stated it was okay . Paid the check and hauled out of there quickly . Waiter was okay only complaint he wasn't attentive as I would have preferred and when asked questions he was like it's all on the menu . If you like Mexican food, this is the go to spot in Opelousas. The food is amazing and staff are so friendly. I always get the Nachos Tapatios but I get it over Spanish rice instead of over the chips and it is amazing! The bathrooms could be cleaner, that is what I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 stars. I would have never thought there would be an authentic Mexican restaurant in Opelousas, but hot dog there is one. This place is the real deal. I was impressed from the time I walked into the door with my family. They do not speak fluent English so this makes ordering rather difficult. Thank goodness my son knows Spanish. My mom, daughter and myself ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, which was amazing! One of my sons ordered the quesadillas and the other one had steak with shrimp. The serving sizes where unbelievable. The staff is always accommodating, and they get it right every time. They have a polite wait staff and really yummy food. I will be returning again! Very good authentic Mexican food. We found this place by Yelping it. The staff were very attentive and accommodating to everyone's requests. My boys loved the Flautas and oldest daughter went big with the Carne Asada plate and my wife had a vegetarian fajitas and I had shrimp fajitas (we both skipped the beans and rice trying to be carb-free).
