In the [redacted] years I've lived in Nashville, I've never noticed Private Edition. I mean, I…read more*guess*, I sorta did as I flew* up and down Hillsboro. I recall spying out of the corner of my eye a shopping center that wasn't a mall. But, being that I shy away from shopping as a rule, it was unlikely that I would stop at a place not connected to other places so as to make any shopping I *had* to do efficient and time effective. So, no stops at the place I sorta paid attention to for [redacted] years. Is that clear? But then a time came when my reluctance to shop was paired with my refusal to be around people and my need to buy presents. You keeping up with all this? I know it's a lot. So, factors in place, I needed options. It was then that I sorta remembered this place in Green Hills that *might* have some things I could use/buy/ship and I got to searching the interwebs to make sure of it. I was in the market for fancy lotion. I knew I was in the right place because the 'lotion' was called 'moisturizer.' I really got the hint when I saw the price point. This isn't Jergens, folks. Thankfully, in addition to a picture and price point, the inventory came with copy. I could read flowery language that made me feel good about the purchase I was to make. I mean that sincerely. If you're going to drop coin on a luxury, you should know what you're getting. I felt as though I was reasonably informed enough to know what I was getting. I picked the product, ordered, paid, had it shipped, and tracked the shipping like a hawk. I was determined not to let this magic cream fall victim to a porch pirate. It arrived. It was opened. It was oohed and ahhed. It was worth the money. *I would never do that...

The salesperson listened to my likes and dislikes then directed me to what she thought I was looking for. I found the perfect fragrance! Wish I had more time to spend shopping!

On an early morning walk to a nearby coffee shop (you know, the one with a mermaid), there was a most fabulous outfit in the window so I made it a point to check on it during opening hours. Imagine my boyfriend and I walking into this beautiful store decked out in our gym attire, amidst all the finely dressed clientele of Green Hills. We were greeted by Mrs. Wanda with bountiful smiles (hoping she) passed on judgment. I was fitted with many items with ease, patience and uber compliments and walked away with not just one but three outfits (thank you boyfriend ). I felt like a Pretty Women moment happened upon me! Thank you to Mrs. Wanda for your kindness and assistance in enhancing my wardrobe. It was a lovely experience! The store is very comforting and offers so many styles (ball gowns too!). Parking available in front, albeit limited right now due to neighboring construction. Now my dilemma...how to get a Gus Mayer to Colorado.....

We spent some time chatting with the rep from Caudalie and members of the team Alicia and Katie. It was a great experience! I was told to wait in a certain area for an employee to help me locate a specific lip balm. Unfortunately, no one came, so when I spotted Nas nearby, I asked him for help. Instead of simply looking up the product, he proceeded to explain to me that he "knows the layout of the store" and insisted there was no possible way I had purchased this lip balm at Sephora a month ago and that I must be mistaken. I specifically asked him to look it up on his device, and he didn't. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily argumentative and condescending over something as simple as helping a customer locate a product. My friend then pulled out her phone, looked it up herself within seconds, and confirmed that the product was showing as in stock at Green Hills. Nas then walked away saying "one second," and shortly afterward began yelling across the busy store, "I found it! I found it!" rather than coming back to us or asking us to follow him. The store was packed, and I could barely even see where he was. I literally had to locate him by following his yelling. Once I got to the product, the shade I wanted was not on the display. It may have been stored underneath in the locked cabinets, but by then Nas had disappeared and never returned to finish helping me. After spending so much time insisting that I was wrong and that he knew the store layout, there was also no acknowledgment or apology when it turned out the product was exactly here in the store I said it should be. I ultimately had to find another employee, who was able to help me locate the shade I wanted. I was dissatisfied enough with the interaction that I planned to speak with a manager, only to find out from another employee that Nas is apparently one of the managers. That made the experience even more disappointing because with the kind of attitude he had he should be far away from management or front facing customer service roles but maybe he's not always loud and wrong. Regardless, the condescending and mansplaining approach was completely unnecessary.

I didn't have enough time to look through everything, but it's the kind of place where you can easily find something special. If you're visiting Nashville and need to pick up a gift, or just want to do a little shopping, this spot is well worth a stop.

The Store That Sells Everything You Didn't Know You Wanted…read more I was wandering down what I think is called 12th Street in Nashville -- that trendy stretch where even the sidewalks feel cooler than me -- and I stumbled into White's Mercantile. This place is like if a country singer, an interior designer, and an old general store all decided to start a lifestyle brand together. It's packed with everything from candles that smell like wealth and nostalgia, to mugs that make you question your current kitchen aesthetic. There's leather, linen, and probably something made from reclaimed barn wood -- all tastefully arranged to make you wish your house looked like this. After exploring all the treasures and fighting the urge to buy things I couldn't pronounce, I did what any sensible shopper would do: I bought a book. Because clearly, I'm a minimalist at heart... just one browsing session away from becoming a home décor influencer. Final Verdict: White's Mercantile is dangerously charming -- the kind of store that makes you believe you need artisanal coasters and $40 soap.
