If this review were based on food alone, it would be a four, but it is not and the service is so…read morebad here that I was almost tempted to give it two stars. Ambiance wise, it's tough to tell if they're trying to be upscale or catering to the casual crowd, but based on the other patrons being dressed at least semi-formal, I'd go for the former.
On the service front, we were sat top middle of the restaurant, in front of a mirror, I could see the whole place. I could see the staff. They, evidently, could not see me. I got walked past the entire time. When I was ready to order, had empty plates, wanted to order dessert, wanted to pay. I'm not usually one to advocate for digital ordering and paying, but it would have eliminated at least thirty minutes of my sitting here.
As for the food, there was bread, a few oysters, highlander burger, and a lamb rump from the specials menu. A crepe and a cheesecake for dessert. The bread was pedestrian, and I felt the oysters were not worth it. The burger was amazingly moist with a depth of flavor that melded the ingredients into a wonderful meal. I also thought the lamb rump was amazing. Nothing competing with the delicate lamb flavor, merely accentuating it. As for dessert, I've never had a cheesecake as fluffy as this, and the crepe was a great balance of sweet and savory. Both desserts a did their job of closing out the meal on a successful note without being overly sweet.
As I said at the start, if it was just the food, the only low points were at the very beginning and this would be a four. The service was so aggravating it ruins the entire experience and I can't recommend going here as a result.
