We ate lunch and dinner at IL FAUNO nearly every day (stayed right around the corner)as the food, atmosphere, and the staff was GREAT! I couldn't make a higher recommendation! FOOD: I had a lot of excellent dishes, but the ones that stand out the most were: - Bigoli con l'arna - thick homemade spaghetti with duck liver sauce - Plate of mixed cold cuts and cheeses - amazing assortment, freshly cut - "Marco Polo" - perfect assortment of ingredients on a expertly cured pizza - Pasticcio di melanzane - Eggplant lasagna (a rare (not on the menu) specialty) ATMOSPHERE: Very open and inviting foyer/bar area. Lots of room for dining with families and larger social gatherings. Eating in their rustic outback area is a treat especially in the summer time (yes they have A/C). STAFF: This is a family owned and run business from the front of the bar to the back of the kitchen. The same family members have been there since 1991 and they seem to know everyone that comes in...treating them all as family as well. Professional, courteous, and friendly. The cashier/bartender and head waiter speak perfect English and are especially familiar with US customers, making the experience truly enjoyable. The only bad thing is that now I know I will be dissapointed in every "Italian" restaurant I eat in back in the states...

I ate here three times while I was in the area and each time it was really great .... I think one of my favorite dishes which I did not have a photo for was a pizza with Brie and ham It was seriously delicious LOL each time I came the service was super friendly we even came one night very late and we weren't even sure if they would serve us we walked in they greeted us with a big smile and never rushed us out even though it was very late the owners do have a very cute small dog two of them actually and I got to meet them a couple of times at the end of an evening .... If you're in the area go in and check them out for a warm family feeling small town delicious restaurant

It makes for a beautiful setting with Basilica Palladio as your backdrop. The host is very warm and welcoming. The menu has English descriptions We ordered: Ravioli con fiori di zucchini, stracciatella e pomodorini: It was delicious and they divided into 2 plates as our appetizer. All ingredients fresh and soft bread to clean it all up in the end. Costolette di Agnello con verdure di stagione: These lamb pops were thick and juicy with a very tasty crumb and herb crust. Amazing flavor combinations, bravo. Guancette di Maiale Brasate e pure di patate: Braised pork cheeks with mashed potatoes This was a very flavorful dish as well! The meat just falls apart and when combined with some of the potatoes makes for a delicious mouthful! Finished off with a Tiramisu Everything we tried was perfect. We gave 4 stars due to our server being worth about 2 stars. He was obviously treating us poorly and ignoring us due to the fact that we are Americans. Acting very distant and not helpful. He was very polite and helpful to the Italian families around us. He took their orders before ours, when they sat much later than us and he was very short when dealing with our table. He never checked on our table and we had to order dessert from the busboy. The rest of the serving staff was delightful.

We dined Al fresco, they had tables set up outside which was perfect, the view of the piazza was wonderful. The service was impeccable, since our Italian is very limited they were kind enough to help us through the menu options which by the way were also in English. For our meals I had the steak which was cooked perfectly and it was served with potatoes which I hear are excellent but because of dietary reasons I switched to other veggies which was delightful. My girlfriend had the lamb chops which were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our friend ordered the tuna which was really good. For dessert we shared the tiramisu and the crème brûlée. They were magnificent. What are perfect dining experience and to top it off the price was unbelievable! What a gem!

We enjoyed a typical Italian meal (i.e. 2+ hours) during a long weekend in Brenzone sul Garda, one of many picturesque towns on the lake, just a few minutes up the road from Umberto's. We started with the Gran Frito Misto. Even though it was listed in the menu as a secondi, our waiter humored us and let us have it as an antipasti. The assortment of fried seafood and veggies was delish! I loved the calamari and shrimp. Even the sardines weren't bad! After that, we moved on to antipasti and secondi. My sister and I ordered the lasagne because it's a minimum 2 person dish. My hubby ordered the steak because... well... men like red meat? Y'all. I need to wax poetic about this lasagna for a minute. It was super creamy, bubbly and hot. Layers and layers of fresh noodles with a savory meat ragu sauce on top and prosciutto cotto and mushrooms sprinkled throughout. All served in a GIANT cauldron, easily enough for four people even though it was billed as a two person dish. The steak was good, too. And, we also enjoyed the sautéed potatoes. But seriously. Get. The. Lasagna. If you are still reading at this point (why aren't you on your way to Lake Garda for the lasagna?!), I suppose my last anecdote is that the house red wine was delicious.
