We met some friends in Mexico City who were already planning a day excursion to visit the pyramid in this town, so my friends & I tagged along. This charming establishment is located right on the corner from the exit of the pyramid. We were starving, so after we joked about the sign, "The corner with the most famous restaurant in Cholula," we decided to see if the name lived up to the hype. I was immediately impressed with the historic, rustic bar upon entering, the beautifully crafted wood counter, high ceilings and nicknacks filling shelves. The servers greeted us and arranged tables so we could all sit together in the bar area. I had to try their strawberry Pulque, an ancient, fermented agave alcoholic beverage, which has a familiar taste to that of kombucha. They served it in an enormous bowl with cinnamon sprinkled on top. I couldn't finish it, but it wasn't really strong either. I also tried a local dish, the conejo (rabbit) con ajo (garlic). The rabbit was a bit on the dry side, giving it a more chicken-like texture and flavor, but it was still decent. My bf got the mole con pollo y arroz (chicken mole w/ rice), and that was delicious! Overall, we enjoyed our experience at La Lunita. There's plenty of room with even a rooftop for additional seating and better view. And it was filled with local peeps, so that's always a good sign, too! read more

This Resturant Bar has a long history. It srarted as a Corner General Store/ Deli. Where they made us sandwiches and sold us drinks. Fifty years ago, when I was a student at UDLA (university of the Americas). Later: Don Goyo inherited it from his Mother and has transformed it into a nice restaurant/ Bar. With a very diverse Mexican Resturante/Bar stmoshhere with a catering service for family events. It has been a great place to gather in the evenings for many years. The food is good and the drinks are well served. They have music some evenings, and a confortable atmosphere It is close to the Old Train Station and in front of Cholula's Famous Pyramid. Looking for a place to have breakfast before heading up to the church. Walked past it and saw the place full, assumed it was good. Ordered their typical BF, eggs, fruit, bread, juice and coffee. Food was cold, coffee was watered down, green juice was very sour and bread was hard. Not good at all. read more
