The last two visits to La Maison Kam Fung in Brossard were beyond frustrating. On our first visit, our waiter--a young, tall, slim Asian man--forgot one of our dishes. It took an unreasonably long time to arrive, and by then our 4-year-old granddaughter had already finished eating. We told him we no longer wanted the dish, especially since we don't take leftovers, yet he still tried to charge us for it. My husband had to speak with the manager to get the situation resolved. Hoping it was just a one-off, we returned recently--but it was even worse. The restaurant was chaotic, and we waited 45 minutes just to be seated. Then another 30 minutes passed before a server came to take our order--unfortunately, it was the same waiter. My husband clearly pointed out the menu we wanted, but the waiter brought out completely different items and insisted we had ordered them. We were all there and witnessed the conversation--he was simply wrong and refused to admit it. By that point, we were hungry, upset, and honestly shocked by the level of poor service. My husband went straight to the manager and told her we were leaving, explaining exactly why. This restaurant is disorganized, unreliable, and not worth the hassle. We won't be returning--and I strongly suggest others think twice before going. read more

GREAT dim sum restaurant in Montreal! Not only is this restaurant huge, but the dim sum was excellent. Coming from NY and having experienced dim sum in all of NYC's Chinatowns, as well as San Francisco, Toronto, Hong Kong and Singapore, I've admittedly and unfortunately become a bit of a dim sum snob. To my surprise though, La Maison Kam Fung was RIGHT UP THERE with some of the better dim sum experiences I've ever had. I'm not going to let it define the entire Montreal's dim sum scene, but if the rest of them are anything like this restaurant, then I would say add Montreal to that list of some of the best dim sum areas on this side of this hemisphere to visit! Unbeknownst to us, we happened to come here on Victoria Day, which is a pretty big holiday in Canada and when we arrived, the parking lot and restaurant was PACKED and bustling despite it being a Monday. I would assume it would be about the same amount of traffic on the weekends. Fortunately, our wait was only about 20-25 minutes since the restaurant is so big and turnover was high. ALL of the usual dim sum staples are served here and it's really, really great to see the traditional dim sum push carts back again as we turn the page on the COVID-19 pandemic. Dim sum just wasn't the same the last few years without the push cart ladies walking around and showcasing what they had in their carts. I won't go through every single dim sum dish, but, seriously, we didn't have a single complaint about any of the dishes we ordered - pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, spring rolls, sticky rice with chicken, roast pork rice roll, shrimp and chive dumplings, steamed spare ribs, egg tarts - ALL EXCELLENT and right on par with some of the best dim sum we've ever had anywhere. It was a frustrating dining experience. The General Tao dish was soggy, and although the restaurant's online listing said they closed at 10 pm, we arrived at 8 pm, and our food didn't come until 8:30 pm. Despite this, they started pushing us to leave early because they were closing at 9pm. It's disappointing that the restaurant didn't offer a more welcoming atmosphere, especially since they were supposed to stay open until 10 pm. I definitely won't be returning. read more

This place has been here forever (or at least it feels like it). I've probably been to this place everytime I come visit Montreal as it's a nice banquet style Chinese restaurant. The food is okay. I wouldn't say it's the most exciting food out there but it's passable and the items aren't too oily or greasy. Service is pretty fast though the check did take a while to come. read more

This is a pretty large Chinese restaurant with sufficient space to host banquet dinners. Kam Fung is still push cart dim sum, which is a rarity anywhere in the world, since most dim sum restaurants in Vancouver, Toronto, Asia, transitioned to steam to order over 2 decades ago. I tried the dim sum, and it's adequate. Not amazing by any means, but is forgivable considering the fact that Montreal does not have the best Chinese food when it comes to large cities in North America anyway. It's still quite affordable given inflation in restaurant prices the past few yrs. This is not to the level of Chinese fine dining but is ok to fulfill a Chinese food or dim sum craving. Keep your expectations on the lower side, and you'll be fine. Hard pass on the salted pork and preserved egg congee as it is not good. The fresh tofu dessert is not bad, and is a very generous portion that comes with a side of ginger syrup. Steamed dim sum options are fine, but they are closer to frozen dim sum quality than freshly made. read more

First thing I love supporting a local Chinese restaurant! We ordered dim sum for Chinese New Year. Despite their phone lines not being open I did physically go to the restaurant to give my order and because they do have a lot the wait was a little long which was completely understandable. My favourite Item for dim sum would be the fried squid and if we're doing for dinner would be combo egg with a mix of wonton or hot and spicy soup,herbal Tao chicken,eggrolls,Pork chops, beef with green onions, mixed vegetables with shrimp, and a bowl of rice. We ordered rice noodles with beef,fried shrimp, siu mai,Seaweed roll with shrimp and crab,hao bao, Fried shrimp dumpling,Steam spareribs My only negative comment would be that they need to be more strict on isolation so they have a enter side and the exit side but people don't follow the exit sign they completely collide with the people coming in because they're going out from the in section. It's definitely their responsibility to enforce the distance and the one way directions. Also in general when the restaurants are open the bathroom is completely disgusting whether there's no toilet paper sticky floor no soap etc. the bathroom really needs to be cleaned especially After we reopen for Covid hygiene is definitely going to be a number one thing that everyone's going to be worried about. read more

While I have enjoyed very good dim sum at Maison Kam Fung, regular meal service on a Thursday evening was AWFUL. The ambiance was ridiculous: four tables occupied in the gymnasium-sized dim sum space. That, however, was to be expected. Unexpectedly, the meal was equal to the ambiance. We took the seafood service for four. The quantity was excessive and would have served eight normal clients. The conge was tasteless gruel, enhanced by a few tasteless steamed shrimp. The steamed vegetables (beans?) were ok, accompsnied by tasteless steamed shrimp. The steamed fish was textureless, tasteless mush. The deep-fried seafood was unidentifiable (except for the ubiquitos shrimp) and had a cloying, difficilt-to -identify odor/flavor (batter, oil?). Finally, the lobster was also mush. The worst restaurant meal I've had in many years and one that cost nearly $200. Go for dim sum on weekend mornings, but otherwise steer well clear!! read more

Kam Fung is a very old school dimsum restaurant. there are no frills whatsoever. you get a # upon arrival if its packed, and they shout out your # when your table is ready. the system is very efficient. once your # is called, the hostess walks you to your table, asks you for the kind of tea you would like and puts the stamp card on the card holder on the table. middle-aged ladies pushes carts along the aisles, sometime shouting out what they are offering but if you have dimsum often, you will know which cart has what by looking at the plates/steamers. i typically get the same items in every dimsum restaurant, hargow (shrimp dumpling) suimai (pork and shrimp dumpling) chicken feet, steamed rice roll (with shrimp or with fried dough, or both), spare ribs and sometimes buns to be a filler if im still hungry. for the most part, if you dont speak chinese, the ladies know enough english to let you know what the item is or what its made of. so have no fear if something look funny. all in all, i like this place, although this time we mustve sat at a bad location, the carts with the common items didnt swing by much or often, but other than that, this place is legit. read more

I came here Saturday morning at 10:40, waiting time is 5-10mins. We had jasmine tea. You can choose from 4 kinds. We had congee, beef parts with turnip, shrimp dumpling, chow main and etc. Chow main is very large size for two people. Overall the taste is the same as the downtown KimFung. One of the few places that I used to eat dim sum at in Montreal was Kim Fung in Chinatown. I'm not sure if these two are related but I mistakenly thought in my mind that Kam Fung was Kim Fung. Oops. Well, if you find yourself crossing the bridge and heading to the south shore, this might be worth a try. On Boxing day, we decided to brave the crowds and head out for dim sum. Lucky for us, one of my relatives got there early and managed to get the #1 spot. First one seated! All I can say is get there early because the lineup was pure insanity. The seating area is massive, think banquet style, yet it was completely full by 11:00am. When we were trying to exit, it was like leaving a zoo. There were 15 of us so no way good pictures were going to happen. We ate the usual staples (ha gow, siu mai, cha siu bao, ha cheung, woo guk, tripe, bean curd, fried squid, rice with spare ribs, and jouk to name a few). The prices are in the $3.75 - $5.50 range if I recall correctly. Decent dim sum but pretty standard in my books. I wouldn't drive all the way off the island if it was my choice. read more

Dim sum here was amazing. Prices were reasonable and the location opened at 1130 AM on the dot. Shortly after they had the carts flying from the kitchen. Some of the must orders include the shu mai, har gow, chicken feet, beef with bean curd and definitely the pork ribs. The location itself its very clean including the bathrooms. They take Covid very seriously. The entire staff is wearing gloves and masks. The sauces come in pockets or the small sauce containers. You can tell this place is good when its packed right when it opens on a random week day. Highly recommend Kam Fung if you quality dim sum. read more

This must be the only dim sum restaurant left in Brossard since Jing Hua closed down- it looks wildly succesful, my family has been a couple times and there's always a line up out the door if you arrive around lunch time. It's a huge open space, decorated nicely, red carpeting, chandeliers and gold dragons on the back wall however, despite being fairly new, you can tell there's been high traffic. Dings and scratches on the walls, curtains and hanging liquor license and other plates are crooked and look unkempt. Food is delicious, probably the best I've had outside of China - it actually really reminds me of being at a busy dim lunch right in Hong Kong, so many locals! Portions are generous and everything tastes fresh. Only issue is if you don't speak Chinese, staff can't help you too much. I had to ask 3 different people for a fork and getting a glass of water was equally challenging. Carts came around quite often for being seated at the front, but after half an hour of trying to track down some type of radish patty dish I like, it was all gone by the time it came near me. If you're a "foreigner" to dim sum, I strongly recommend checking out their website for pictures of the menu that way you know what to expect when the trolleys come around. read more

I'm not Chinese so I can't attest to how authentic Kam Fung is, however, there is a line every day of the week and 95% of the clients are Asian. I think this is a good sign! Kam Fung is clean and even though the food is served in trolleys, everything is fresh. Some of the staff speak English so they can explain the dishes. The staff that doesn't speak English will open the lids of the dishes so you can see if you want that item or not. Not all the trolleys will necessarily pass by your table so every time we go we discover a new dish we like. Dishes I recommend for first timers : Vegetables: the green beans and Chinese spinach (get the oyster sauce on the side) Pork: pork buns and pork dumplings Fried: general tao chicken and spring rolls Shrimp: the shrimp dumplings, the fried green onion and shrimp rolls and the shrimp on green bell peppers Desserts: mochi (black sesame glutinous rice ball), fried sesame balls, almond covered sticks and the yellow custard looking tart (tastes like custardy-coconut). They should all be all the same dessert trolley. It's really fun to go as a big group so that you can try as many dishes as possible! read more

Service was great! Surprisingly the waitress came to check on us a few times to ask how was the food and if everything was ok. I've never had that happen at dim sum before. Food was standard dim sum. Really great dim sum place! The experience was very authentic and I felt like I was transported to Guangzhou. This is the type of place where you sit down and middle aged ladies pushing carts come by. Other reviewers have complained about their attitude but honestly, it's pretty much expected at any other authentic dim sum restaurant. If you're nice to them and clear about what you want, then they're very nice to you too. The dim sum tasted great and I would highly recommend the dishes with shrimp. Their regular fried shrimp is also amazing and we even got two orders of it. They seem to fry it with some sort of garlic sauce which really enhanced the shrimp's flavor. Dishes are very affordable and range between $4 - $7, with most of them being $5. The wait staff is also amazing. One of the waiters noticed we didn't finish the chicken feet and asked if we didn't like it. We told him the taste felt off and he soon came back and gave us egg tarts on the house! For authentic Chinese dim sum this is the place to go on the south shore of Brossard. If you go early there's a line up but you are seated fast if you wait later for example 1 o'clock the choices of dim sum is limited because they have to set up for dinner service I think around 3 o'clock. There servers are friendly and fun to chat with the dim sum is fresh and hot. It is funny that they enjoyed that we are Caucasian I am half Italian Irish and I bought my father which is Italian and he does eat chicken feet and tripe and all the funky stuff so they really enjoyed my father asking for those particular dishes. They have a huge menu that you could order from the kitchen everything comes out fresh and in huge portions. When I go here my bill average is about $40 Plus tip and that's more enough for two people and your stuff for the whole day I really recommend this place for dim sum. read more

I set my expectations pretty low based on what everyone told me about Montreal dim sum and also being from Toronto. Even so, I left Kam Fung disappointed. I'm not sure if it was an off day, but there was just very little food coming around in the carts. That was the biggest problem. My girlfriend, her parents and I were just looking around eagerly awaiting food. The rest of the restaurant also looked the same. The service was also pretty slow. No one really came around to refill tea, pick up empty containers or even to get the bill. Granted they were busy, but usually these popular dim sum places are a well-oiled machine. Not so here. The food was also just okay. I found many of the dishes to be cold or way too hot. The jia leung (rice cruller) dish was a bit small, but tasted good. The fun gor and siu mai were okay. I was very thirsty afterwards, so I suspect generous use of MSG here. Overall it was an okay dim sum place to get your fix, but I would try other places in town before going back. read more

One of the most popular dim sum restaurants in Brossard area of Montreal. Hug seating area but still gets extremely busy during weekends. Dim sum prices ranges from 3-5 dollars per plate so it is reasonable but you can get better deals else where! I found the dim sum dishes hit or miss depending what you choose! You cannot go wrong with the classic selection of shrimp dumpling hai gou and pork dumpling siu mai. My favourite here is the beef tendon and sticky rice. I went for supper with my family at a place where we go often. This time, we ordered the combo menu for 2 which included 2 bowls of wonton soup. The shrimp wontons were big. There was a good ratio of shrimp to pastry and the broth was very flavourful as well. The combo came with 4 chicken spring rolls with a plum sauce on the side. The spring rolls were very good size with a good amount of filling and they were not overly fried. As main dish, we had beef sauté with onion, green pepper and black bean sauce, shrimp with mixed vegetables and Chinese mushroom, Szechuan pork chops and general tao chicken. A medium bowl of white rice was also included. This combo is worth the price of 42$. The taste was good. We were 3 persons altogether and we still had left overs! read more

Sunday dim sum! I live downtown Montreal. When comes the time for dim sum, i would cross the bridge and come here to satisfy my craving. It's just because there is no good dim sum restaurant on the island anymore! I usually come here at the opening (10am) because it gets busy really fast. Unlike today, we decided to come here at 11 am with our friends to have dim sum. It was full! We waited for about 20 minutes before getting our table. That's to be expected. The carts kept on coming and we kept on ordering. Mainly our classics but some unfamiliar items as well. For those who like the chicken feet, this place does it quite well. The har gow (shrimp dumpling) and the siu mai (pork dumpling) are especially good here. What about the baby squid and steamed pork chop pieces on rice? Devine!!! The fried items are a bit on the greasy side but oh so flavourful! Don't be afraid to ask for extra hot sauce, hot mustard and soy sauce for they don't always have it automatically on the table. Service is really nice and fast. Even if their english or french is broken, the staff make a really good effort which is always appreciated! read more

This review is for Kam Fung, located in a suburban shopping center in Brossard and outside of Montreal. The restaurants have the same name, but are confused on reviews posted on Yelp. We ate dim sum here on a Sunday. Arriving at 10am is key as the parking lot gets super busy with shoppers at nearby Kim Phat and people eating at the restaurant. It is a big banquet hall and dim sum is delivered via carts. The overall quality is good and satisfying for someone craving the typical fare. The servers were considerate and the facilities were clean. We would come back here if we want to skip going into Montreal. read more

Typical dim sum restaurant with a decent variety of dim sum. The only gripe is the service, we had to flag people down on multiple occasions to pick up empty dishes when we were done with everything. I'm from Los Angeles so it was interesting to see how they served different types of dim sum. They had meat and rice bowls that resembled clay pots, but they were definitely lack luster in flavor. We came here for a New Year dimsum while we were in town. The entire experience reminds me a lot of my childhood's family dimsum experience, I felt like I just stepped out of a time machine and went back to 20 years ago. It's located in an older building. There was already a pretty long line when we arrived so we had to sit by the front for our queue number to be called out before we could go inside to our table, which I believe was just 10 minutes or so. We ordered our standard dimsum items from the menu on the table and from the carts that they pushed around the restaurant: shrimp har gow, shu mai, shrimp dumplings, shrimp rice roll, noodle, and mango pudding. Worst Chinese I have ever purchased, we trashed it all it was totally inedible a waste of $59. So I hope to warn others before you waste your money. The order arrived over 30 minutes late. The vegetable rolls were greasy and soggy took 1 bite and spit it out. Sweet and sour pork was 17. and didn't come with rice or anything and the pork tasted rotten, trashed it. The fried pork dumplings were not even browned and were disgusting. The hot and sour soup was just sour and nasty tasting 6.95 for a small serving. 7.tip and no apology for being late. read more
