A solid Chinese place that satisfies my cravings for soy milk, congee, and fried doughnut. Cash only. I got all of the above (1 person) + tax + tip = under $20 cash. Quick and efficient service- you know how Asians operate. They take your order quickly so when you sit down, look at the menu first before starting your conversations lol. This is a chain restaurant and not some local mom-and-pop shop (probably leased out by them) but is situated in a neighborhood of nice, elderly retired Asians. Come support!
GREAT rice noodles. Good service. Comfortable seating. Servers are very nice and speak Cantonese, Mandarin, English & French. Expect to wait because it's that GOOD! Order via QR code. Even the chili oil container is clean.
Totally delicious, fresh, and quality ingredients. I was on the hunt for a dim sum spot but didn't find many well rated places. My favorite dim sum food is the beef noodle and steamed shrimp dumpling. They had both so me and my cousin ventured over here before catching her flight back home. The service was quick which was appreciated. The congee comes out in a big bowl enough for two and you flavor it as you like which I really liked. The beef noodle I could eat for days. The steamed shrimp dumplings were made so fresh and the shrimp was well portioned and seasoned. Even the milk tea came out unsweetened and you add the amount of sugar - which I normally have to ask for less sweet but in this case I just added a little and it was perfect. I which there was more dim sum options like egg custards etc. It is a limited menu but everything on it was delicious.
Some of the best chang fen I've had. The skin is very soft, light, and slurpy. I like that they add veggies and scallions in all their chang fen. Their sweet soy sauce was the classic ones that I used to eat when I was a child. Service was really efficient. People are very friendly. I will miss this when i go back to NY.

Went here for lunch and it was pretty packed. The space is a little small (maybe 10-15 small tables overall?). Was able to get seated immediately. Decided to get the street noodles, fried dough noodles, cruller, and laiwanese congee (or it's known as "boat" congee in most places). Noodles were okay. There was a slight chew that I'm not quite used to in rice noodles. I'm more used to rice noodles being slippery instead of chewy. The cruller was fine. The center was a little bit cold which was disappointing. Outer layer was crispy and sugary but inner bread mixture was too dense. Congee was great! This is my usual go to congee as there's a lot of flavors and textures that make up this congee compared to the other congee items.
Yin Ji hit the spot, as I was in need of an Asian food infusion this morning. We tried the new item of a hot bowl of soy milk with the fried long donut, and opted for the shrimp, chive, and lettuce rice roll. Rice roll was comme ci comme ca, but the soy milk was delicious and paired well with the donut. Would recommend to friends to try. The service is friendly and orders are made via mobile quick and easy.
HK Quentin's good food, portions are generous, interior seems clean and newly renovated. would recommend for traditional congee n rice roll breakfast. 5 stars specially for the hot drinks! Prompt service.
Chaine torontoise ayant maintenant un resto en ville. Pour commencer jai prit un thė style Hong Kong froid au gout prononcė. Un excellent choix. Le verre est entourė de glace se qui garde linterieur froid et sans glace. Jai adorer le principe. Jai goutė a un de leur classic le congee au boeuf que jai adorė. Enfin leur baton de nouille frit avec sauce au beurre d'arachide cest un pur dėlice,un must. Pour finir comme dessert jai prit la pate de sesame noire qui est plutot liquide et me fait penser a un chocolat chaud tres interessant tant la texture que le gout. Excellent service on ma donner beaucoup de conseil. Le resto etait particulierement achalendė. Je recommande fortement ce resto!
I came for 11 am lunch on Sunday and loved my experience! It's not a big space, maybe 10 tables total. It's very clean and decor is basic but modern. I was very pleasantly surprised by the menu. This is my third Yin Ji location (one in Guangzhou, China, and one in LA). Both other locations focused mostly on rice noodle rolls and congee, but here they have a variety of snacks and dimsum items as well. They also have several veggie options, and I appreciated that they're well marked on the menu. I was super excited for some authentic Cantonese food after a week of eating bread and heavy western meals, so I went a bit crazy on ordering. I had R1, beef and shrimp rice noodle roll ($8.76), with a seafood congee ($12.50), and deep fried fish skin chips ($7.99) as an appetizer. It was a little too much food for me to eat all by myself; I ended up taking some the fish skin chips home. The rice noodle roll was delicious. The rice noodle is very thin, and they don't skimp on the beef or shrimp. I was a little surprised that they marinated the beef slices the same way dimsum places do the beef meatballs, since I'm not a huge fan of that flavor, but it was still really good. The seafood congee was fantastic as well. I could actually taste the seafood in the congee. I assume they've cooked it for a while, unlike some places that just throw seafood into plain congee for a couple minutes and the congee is still pretty bland. There was a lot of seafood into the congee, with 2 shrimp, 3 mussels, and a lot of squid bits. I do wish they had peeled the shrimp beforehand, as it made eating it a bit messy, but overall I enjoyed it. Fish chips were crunchy and delicious. They first made for a great appetizer and later a great afternoon snack! My friend is vegetarian, so he got R10 vegetarian rice noodle roll ($5.99), S9, salted dough ($3.75), and a hot HK milk tea ($3.50) on the side. He found the rice noodle roll a bit bland, and didn't like the flavor of the chili oil when I told him to try it.

We tried the braised beef, the roast duck and other rice noodle dishes and everything was yum. So were the congee. The fried bread was fried to perfection and tasted great. If I lived in Montreal, I would come here often! Place is small but we didn't wait long for a table for 6 people. Service was super efficient and food arrived promptly!
Love love love this place! Super authentic rice rolls with an amazing variety. Eating the rolls fresh was so yummy. I'd definitely recommending eating it as fresh as possible as rice rolls do slightly harden over time. We keep getting the beef brisket rice rolls -- the sauce and brisket it comes with is really nice. They also have a wide variety of other HK snack foods, as well as authentic milk tea. Their congee is super legit. Really happy that this place opened up in Montreal!
Being a big steam rice roll fan living in New York, I looked up a spot to introduce my European friend to them when meeting up in Montreal and discovered Yin Ji Chang Fen. What I didn't know at the time is: (1) they also have NYC locations, including their U.S. flagship 1/2 block from Tonii's, one of my favorite Chinatown cheap eats and (2) Yin Ji Chang Fen's chains origin is in Guangzhou in 1958... and that location still exists! So, it was a must try! Glad we stopped by and would recommend it for a try, especially if you are looking for a convenient bite while on Ste. Catherine Oeste. (Note - Did not get the chance to check out other steamed rice roll places in Montreal, but will definitely do on my next trip.) About the restaurant experience... while they have printed menus, you use the QR code on the table to order, although there was a helpful waiter to assist. We ordered a fresh Shrimp with Chives and a Roasted Duck with Chives Steamed Rice Roll. Peanut sauce needed to be ordered as an extra. They provide complementary hot tea. (You can also order a can of Chinese iced tea.) Yin Ji Chang Fen's rolls were delicious, especially the roast duck! The sauces added make the rolls even more vibrant. Note - Didn't get the chance to check out other Montreal steamed rice roll places, but will definitely do on my next trip. Also at one point back home, will also check out their N.Y. Chinatown location to compare. To add, Congee appears to be another Yan Ji specialty, however it's not something I typically order. read more

Don't miss this if you are staying near Longueuil. Our first time and won't be the last. The pictures do not justify this authentic and freshness of the foods served. We love a good dimsum and esp cheongfuns but this is AMAZING! Come here for the great selection! Even the desserts were on point and also the drinks!! Who needs Chinatown when you can enjoy Hong Kong food this side of the river! read more

Some of the best chang fen I've had. The skin is very soft, light, and slurpy. I like that they add veggies and scallions in all their chang fen. Their sweet soy sauce was the classic ones that I used to eat when I was a child. Service was really efficient. People are very friendly. I will miss this when i go back to NY. read more

Some of the best dim sum we've had! The food was fresh, ordering was easy using the app (especially as we don't speak French or Cantonese!), and these dessert custard buns were SO GOOD that we could have eaten multiple orders. If you're in the Montreal area looking for dim sum, this is your place! read more

Quick service, clean interior, good quality Cantonese comfort food. They provided tea and a decent variety of food to choose from, including many different types of congee. My favorite dish was probably the fried dough wrapped in steamed rice noodles, that item is a must-order here. read more
This is a classic carb heavy Chinese dim sum place. The restaurant surface is pretty small, therefore be ready to have a little wait if arriving around lunch time. They are well-known for their congee, rice rolls and milk tea - musts! They have a good variety of each that you can choose to suit your taste. Their beef brisket is an excellent choice too although this time the daikon wasn't cook long enough to absorb all the flavor. Milk tea is very smooth and creamy which i personally prefer when it is hot. For the cold version, they make suee the taste is not diluted by sumberging the whole drink in a bowl of ice. read more
Very nice and clean Cantonese food place. Famous for the rice rolls, but their other dishes are great too! I had the roast duck rolls, deep fried fish skin, braised beef brisket, "laiwanaise" congee and stir fry noodles. Definitely worth a visit for your Canto food fix read more

Yin Ji Cheung Fen is one of my go-to Cantonese restaurants in Montreal. Everything was delicious! Their rice noodle rolls were thin and silky! I'd definitely recommend their BBQ pork and chives rice noodle rolls and Laiwanese style congee. read more
Terrific hole in the wall and great place to get real Cantonese food. There are none of the westernized Chinese dishes (like General Tso's Chicken) available at this place and I was the only non-Asian which means you're in for something authentic. I had the chicken and shiitake mushroom congee plus a vegetable rice roll and they were both excellent. The pieces of chicken in the congee were incredibly tender, to a point that made me wonder if it was actually chicken (of course it was!) Overall definitely recommend, the prices here are quite cheap and it's a great place to go alone like I did or in a group. Many of the dishes like the appetizers can be shared easily. The service was excellent and the restaurant itself was immaculately clean which debunks one of the more unfortunate negative stereotypes of Chinese food and restaurants. Food here is so so delicious!! It's a rather small restaurant but We came on a Friday lunch with no wait. There is so much variety for the rice rolls and congee. We tried the shrimp chive rice roll and beef rice roll, both were amazing! The pork duck egg congee was great too- the pork was very tender. I'd highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Finally don't have to go all the way to toronto for some congee and rice rolls. The beef n shrimp roll is great. The rice roll is ligh silky and thin. The toppings in it is also very generous and the right amount. I would also recommend the doghnut roll with hoisin and sesame paste. If they added some fresh sesame thennit would be perfect. The congee i took was the laiwanaise one. Great base and toppings with it,but because it was take out. The steam made the congee a little bit too liquidy for my liking Same with the shrimp congee,very nice they put whole shrimps in it. Finally the hk cold milk tea is legit,and yummy can't wait to go est it fresh in the restaurant instead of in my car. read more

The most authentic rice rolls in Montreal ever!! The congee or porridge is also very hearty and delicious. Not recommended if you are only used to Americanized Chinese food and not even know what rice rolls are. We saw a group of four people surprised by what they ordered in the restaurant and did not even know how to eat them. However if you are into authentic Cantonese snack food, this is the restaurant to go !!! read more
pretty good freshly made rice rolls! we tried a variety, and they are all really good. The HK style one (R21) is pretty good, liked the sesame sauce. the egg one (R16) is good too. For those 2 relatively plain ones (i.e.: no meat stuffing), it's good to dip it in the sauce provided. The other chive ones with either pork or shrimp are all pretty good, we liked R1, R2 and R4. The one with the fried churros (R11) is also good. for congee, the one with preserved egg and meat is pretty good. we especially liked the one with seafood/meat/peanuts (C5) you would need to order a rice roll and a cup of congee in order for one person. super delicious, you get stuffed pretty fast (probably due to the high proportion of water), but gets hungry again soon after. read more
Finally got to try this place. They specialise in rice rolls but they also have many different kinds of congee and snacks. I tried the fried dough rice roll as well as the shrimp and chives one. They were both delicious but you have to eat them quickly otherwise the roll isn't as soft when it gets cold. The fish congee and the beef congee were both very good and comforting. The curry fish balls were too salty and were not eatable. Even though there was a lineup, the service was fast. They call you when the food is ready so you can do other stuff while its being prepared. The guy was super nice and friendly. read more

I really like this place. The rice rolls are perfectly made - not too soft or too chewy and fillings are abundant. There are a variety of congee choices which is nice. The congee needed a bit more salt but that's personal preference. Would definitely come back to try the different rice rolls and congee. read more

A definite 5 star. Very quick service. Super flavorful dishes. Beef brisket rice noodles, fresh beef congee, chicken mushroom congee are my must haves. I visit them often and come back feeling full and warm. read more
