The menu is really big and there's quite the amount that you can choose from. My mother got some kind of salmon plate and she said it was so delicious and totally recommend it. My father got the coconut shrimp. I did try one and I have to say it was so good and more shrimp and breading which is always a plus. I got the meat with cheese on top and pineapples and green sauce and it was phenomenal. I got it with a side of grilled veggies which were so good. My cousin got the Marlon so and she said they were delicious overall seems like everything is great there I don't feel like you can go wrong with ordering any dish. It is very authentic.

For a solid, healthy lunch, I enjoy their daily catch (check market price and fish) or tilapia. I usually get it grilled or zarandeado for some more flavor. It's easy to add on rice (white or saffron) and vegetables which you can have steamed or zarandeado, as well. Shrimp in its many forms (al ajillo, zarandeado, a la diabla, grilled) is also great here. The shrimp dishes come with saffron rice and nopales, but you can switch to vegetables easily. Their ceviche tostada is good as is their shrimp aguachile. Table service will include tostadas with a couple of salsas, and they'll provide more if you ask or have a long wait. Sometimes they'll start everyone off with a shooter of shrimp or fish soup. The broth is richly flavored, and the cup is often ridged with tajin which makes for a delicious starter. There is a lot of seating here, and there is a patio out back. I see a lot of business lunches here, and they sometimes have larger groups. There is a good amount of parking here, too.

The night we were there had live music which was really nice. It brands itself as a Mexican-Thai restaurant, but to me it's a straight up seafood joint. They have a really intriguing cocktail menu which we sampled throughly, and it was the Jamaica Habanero that came in first place. That drink was spicy, fruity and full of flavor. Can't think of a better cocktail I've had honestly. For appetizers, we tried the Tiradito De Hamachi which was delightful and had these tasty fried grasshoppers on it, and the Ceviche de pulpo a las brasas, which was buttery, delicious and had a bunch of chicharrones in it which I though was a really interesting and unique combo with the octopus. For entrees, we went with the Pescado Orsán and the Camarones En Vara-Asados. The winner there was the Pescado Orsán, which was a perfectly cooked catch-of-the-day with amazing texture resting on a this really nice cauliflower rice with little pieces of asparagus mixed in. I thought that dish was truly exception given the perfectly balanced mix of flavors and textures. The Camarones En Vara was tasty as well, but nothing in particular stood out with that one. If in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for a great experience. There is so much on their menu that looks good, I'm sure there are many more highlights.

Let me start by saying, it was a really hot day, but they have refreshing fans so you don't feel hot at all, in case you decide to sit at the terrace (which is worth it), the waiter was really gentle offering us drinks right away, I ordered a jarrito, which basically is a drink with mezcal, pineapple, orange, lime and tajin, so refreshing and delicious I finished it in a heart bit! I could have had a dozen of those. The food was amazing, I ordered the Coctel Currican Playero which consists of tuna chunks, mango, avocado and soya sauce... MIND BLOWING, the combination of flavors was perfect, everything melted in your mouth, immediately transported me to the beach, so good. My husband had Camarones pa pelar (shrimp that he peeled) and Camarones Maria Amelia (jumbo shrimp with butter, garlic and a hint of habanero... yumm!) they were so fresh, the waiter explained to us that all the seafood arrives everyday in trucks with freezers directly from the sea, no wonder why it was wonderful. Just for the record I read other reviews complaining about the slow service, which we did not experienced, maybe because the 3 times we were there it was on a weekday around noon, so this made it smooth and great. But I highly recommend this place and I am looking forward to eat here again. It was a pleasure.

The service is very slow, even though, the place was EMPTY. They would serve a green salad without offering me any option of dressing. I asked for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. After nearly 15 minutes, my waiter would come with a little sauce boat with some dark liquid in it. I asked the waiter: "what's this? Did you mix the oil and vinegar?" He replied "Yes!". The liquid didn't look oily at all. I tasted it and they simply served Maggi seasoning in the sauce boat. I asked, again, for olive oil and vinegar and asked to have them separate for me to dress my salad. He would come back just with oil. After asking for the vinegar (at this point I was OK if it was white vinegar), the waiter said they don't use vinegar in ANY recipe (?!?!?). Vinegar is a widely used ingredient in Mexican seafood!!! I used lime juice instead. Last but not least, I ordered the check and asked the waiter to add a certain percentage as tip. When he came back with the voucher, the total amount (check + tip) exceeded in a few Pesos the amount I had previously calculated. The cashier decided it was best to round up the check to the nearest hundred!!! It wasn't too much money but I considered it an abuse. This was the first and last time I eat here.

Between its…read morelarge, glass pane facade, modern nondescript logo, and sharply dressed waitstaff, El Torito comfortably assumes its role as an upscale casual, bar-informed mariscos restaurant. The service was really stellar, if not a little hands-on. I enjoyed downing some cold cheve with ceviche and overpaying for mezcal while listening to banda. Really a great vibe here. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in MTY. I will come with a bit-too-tight silk shirt, and order the grilled octopus. I got it all planned out.

To piggyback off my previous review where I described my experience jumping into a stranger's car to eat vegan food, I naturally became friends with the now-former-stranger and after dinner we met up with his friends for an authentic Monday (Yes, it was a Monday) night in Mexico! So where do locals go to party? Apparently here, at El Torito. Seafood restaurant by day, hoppin, poppin "club" by night. I use the term loosely because it's not a club, but it sure felt like one! After getting checked in by security (who raised both eyebrows as he probably doesn't see too many international id's here), I get swept into a crazy party. The restaurant tables still line the floor, but instead of sitting down and enjoying a meal, people are standing around them with a bucket (or 2) of Coronas on each one. Tv's wrap around all 4 walls and are showing music videos to the songs that are blaring from the speakers. People are dancing, taking shots, shouting, laughing, and cheering left and right-it really is an infectious environment. About halfway through the night, the tv's turn off and the music stops...for a full Mariachi band ensemble!! I'm talking at least a dozen Mariachi musicians storming the restaurant, with each one holding an instrument ranging from drums to trumpets to tubas. It was loud, it was obnoxious, it was crazy, and it was great! Everyone is dancing and singing and having such a great time. I'm so glad I got to experience this local gem. I obviously would never know of such a place on my own. And man, can Mexicans party! Note: If you're reading this and decide to go, just know that I'm not sure if the address/location is up to date here on yelp and I'm not entirely sure what nights this restaurant turns into a club.
