Great family owner place! Good selections of fruit flavor popsicles and chocolate dipped bananas. Pretty cheap for the price. Truly a gem in the PV hustle and bustle. Located on a corner store front where you can get this as a dessert or a quick on the go cool off treat. Very very friend! :)

A small ice cream and popsicle store on the corner. This place's handmade fruit popsicles are so delicious. I highly recommend the kiwi or strawberry ones. The store doesn't have a sit down area, but there is a shaded park nearby that you can sit to enjoy your treat. They don't take credit card, but do accept American dollars or pesos. Locals love this place as well!

This was a stop on the Vallarta Eats Food Tour. At first, I was a bit disappointed when we arrived here as we had subpar ice cream from a shop of the same name near the Malecón. Turns out, according to our guide, the name "La Michoacana" can be used by anyone in Mexico operating a business. Good, I thought, but would they have the same, flavorless ice cream? Only one way to find out! ATMOSPHERE: The corner shop has no seating so it's all take away. Two freezers contained neatly stacked homemade popsicles and a nice variety of ice cream. My only concern was of the shop owner's bird that was flying around in the shop that perched above the overturned ice cream cups with dried bird poop running down the walls. Yuck! DESSERT: Chocolate Chip Ice Cream All qualms disappeared after my first bite. The very yellow-colored vanilla ice cream was smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of chocolate chips. Popsicles A plethora of colors and flavors were available in which my spouse chose strawberry, complete with an actual strawberry fruit stuck into the bottom of it. He reported it tasted okay but could've been a bit sweeter. SERVICE: The man serving us was friendly and explained the flavors since no signage was available. OVERALL: This La Michoacana, located more inner city, was good. A five star rating could be had if pet tweety wasn't flying around and pooping.

12/28/16, 1/20/17 Somewhere beyond the wall is a small store, a kind soul, and frozen happiness--flavors of popsicles and ice cream that can't be found around here. I remember a time when I picked out the prettiest speckle-colored lick toy from the neat piles of rainbows and gemstones. I licked, closed my eyes, and left the earth for a brief moment, only knowing that the cold treat against my tongue was a taste of innocent joy, long lost. I remember licking faster and harder, racing against the hot sun who also pressed its warm lips against my popsicle, turning it into a mess of sticky sweet fruit essence and smearing it between my fingers. Time stood still as I concentrated on winning, but it was hard; kids ran along the cobblestone streets laughing and jumping, gleefully being gleeful, and sometimes I had to miss a few licks to just smile and think to myself what a beautiful place to live. We even passed a few stores where there were no adults to be seen--one where the cashier was just a small child with her even smaller brother, peering straight up at the sky at me, from the gap between two huge front teeth. Maybe someday the wall will fall, as it fell nearly 30 years ago, and we will be free to see our neighbors once more. That little girl and her littler brother would probably be all grown up, but that's okay; hopefully, they'll come over and open up a popsicle shop for us, selling rainbows and gemstones. 5/5 #mexico #puertovallarta #jalisco #popsicle #icecream #star

Who doesn't like ice cream? If you are one of the few persons who does not like ice cream, then you should not visit this Paleteria when you are in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. If you like ice cream as I do, then most definitely drop by Paleteria La Michoacana. As other Yelpers have mentioned, they have plenty of flavors here for both their paletas (popsicles) and their ice cream. The folks here are terrific. We were able to sample many delicious ice cream flavors. I was very pleased with my choices!! 4 stars cause I am a fan!!

Enjoyed our ice cream stop here. Strawberry "popsicle" was good, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate and coconut was good. Cheap prices.

Visited this spot during the day right after having lunch across the street at La Cerveceria Union…read more(also good, great beer menu!). The staff, Alex, Erick and Melissa, were so polite, professional, friendly and fantastic! They encouraged us to sample numerous flavors and also gave recommendations and reviews for flavors, combinations to try, etc. I ended up getting the waffle cone with Coconut and Rafiello. It was amazing! All the flavors we sampled were fantastic. They also have some sorbet, and sugar free yogurt (substituted with agave). I highly recommend trying the Basil and Green Apple flavors. Muy bien! On a side note, my girlfriend Jessica fell in love with some of the little coffee cups and dishes they had. She instantly offered to buy a set and the staff was a little unsure at first but they agreed to sell them. Owner, if you're reading, don't be upset with them! It was very kind of them to do so and my girlfriend is so appreciative! I was so wrapped up in the excitement of this bubble waffle and my taste buds were ascending to heaven, that I forgot my backpack. We didn't go very far (to the tequila room next door), but Alex (I think it was Alex) came running after us a few minutes later to find us. Really great people, and awesome tasting dessert choices. They also serve some small bites, and can turn any of the ice creams/yogurts into smoothie like drinks. I highly recommend!!

So, like, don't go here if you're on a diet. Because you will eat all the sugar and your pants will…read moreno longer fit. Fair warning. Ok, so the outside is like, super cute and kind of summons you in like a Siren at sea. Inside smells like Candyland and the owners are super welcoming and willing to let you sample every dang thing they offer. The special is the Bubble Waffle Cone - it's literally a Belgian style waffle, but with bubbles out instead of squares in. Then you pick however many scoops of their homemade gelato which seeps into the waffle. Are you drooling yet? I chose basil and the white chocolate Ferrero Roche flavor. Seriously an amazing combination. Then, of course, 3 toppings come for free. ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!?! I chose the marshmallows on a stick, caramel sauce, and fresh strawberries. Then they plopped some fresh coconut, sprinkles, and pirouettes on for extra pizzaz. I don't remember what boyfriend had, but you can drool at the picture anyway. We chowed these down like we were winning a food eating contest and left with the most pleasurable stomach aches ever.
