We were fortunate to get a table for three with no reservation. The service was friendly and efficient. The ambiance was excellent... bustling French Bistro with the doors open to the street and a nice breeze. For appetizers we had French Onion Soup which was excellent and the Terrine which was good and came with cornichons and pickled onions, perhaps enough for two to share. For entree's we had roast chicken with oven roasted potatoes and duck confit with potatoes Lyonnaise (although I think the menu described them as some sort of cheese something? Sorry.) . The roast chicken was a little dry and the roast potatoes a little bland but neither too dry nor too bland to make them really un-enjoyable, just not memorable. The duck confit and potatoes Lyonnaise were both very good. For dessert our daughter had vanilla crème brûlée which was excellent. Everything came out at the proper temperature and timed correctly. We decided to stop here after a trip to Saint Denis and it did not disappoint!! My wife ordered a brioche French toast with ice cream and caramel sauce and my son and I split a pizza. They gave a one or two from each region in France available by the glass. Spontaneously came here for dinner because we were living in a hotel across the street. Totally grateful for coming here because we would not have found this place otherwise on our trip to Paris. They have good food with very good flavors and good portion sizes as well. Food was also very cheap which we definitely appreciated! Croque Madame - Really nice with a full layer of cheese melt and that egg on there. Egg was also cooked perfectly Sunny side up and the melted yoke went well with everything else on the plate. Roast chicken (kinda Rotisserie chicken-ish) + Potatoes - Chicken with cooked perfectly soft and tender and had good flavor as well. It was a chicken breast piece which we definitely appreciated. Potatoes were like chunks of boiled potato, but I like them. Beef Tartare+ Fries + Greens (with dressing) - What a lovely combination! First time trying a beef tartar and it was really lovely. It went really well with the greens and the baguette that was served on the table. Kind of like a beef tartar sandwich! Fries will crispy and so so so good! Everyone on the table enjoyed. French Onion Soup (with Gratin Toast) - Glad we could try this one here on our trip to France. The soup was hot and steamy and had a nice flavor too. That gratin toast on top off the soup was the perfect pairing. Little bites of that bread along with a soup gave it a really good mouth feel. We really wanted to get that brioche French toast for dessert but we were so full with the food that we couldn't. Yumm...this restaurant was next to our hotel and we went a rainy evening for a meal. They had only 1 vegetarian dish on the menu so we got that along with a salad and alight. Finally got yo try the alight I had heard so much of. It seemed like just mashed potatoes-not much cheese or spices. It was fun to wat but not something I'd seek out. As an American tourist with extremely limited command of the French Language, I love coming to La Petite Perigourdine. To me, it's so wonderfully French!! The food is excellent, and we have gone many times for breakfast (petit dejeuner) and dinner. Also, just about anytime during the day, as they are continuous serve. The foie gras is delicious. For fun, order the aligot, and let the waiter let them cascade onto your plate. There is a good selection of starters and main courses, good desserts and a varied and reasonable wine list. They do offer a menu in English and the waiters will kindly help with your pronunciation. read more

The staff are friendly and speak French and English, perhaps other languages, too. I was in Paris alone and felt completely comfortable dining here solo. No weird looks or being ignored that happened at other places. I had the homemade foie gras for my starter. It could have been a meal in itself. I had their chicken with roasted potatoes and a sauce to die for. I skipped dessert, but the selections looked amazing! I was just too full. The prices are appropriate for what you get as well. Wine, Escargot, and French onion soup to start Duck Confit, French Beef Tartare, Sea Bass, and Steak The Escargot was not what I was expecting a little on the salty side but complemented the bread really well. The French Onion soup, the onions were caramelized to a point that the onions tasted sweet. Usually I dont like onion. The duck confit was really good the meat just slide off the bone and wasnt dry but not too soggy its flavor complimented the potatoes well. The place we wanted to go to was closed so we stopped in bc we were hangry. My daughter had a pizza , it wasn't bad. The hot pepper flakes at the table were fire hot! (My favorite thing). It was 1;30 and they weren't doing a price fixed lunch even though the sign outside said they were (why I went in). I got steak frites, steak was over cooked but tasted fine. Fries were meh/I wouldn't go back. Servers were nice. Food came out in minutes so not a leisurely lunch. read more

This place was next to our hotel and after a full day of walking we were tired and hungry. I never imagined I would taste the best onion soup of my life at this place and I did, but, I came back 2 days later and it wasn't as good. For some reason the onions were not as caramelized and there was a difference but still delicious. The chicken with mushrooms..wow..I never order chicken out but I was craving the mushrooms and this dish delivered. The chicken was juicy and fulm of flavor and swimming in creamy silky mushrooms which I loved. The next time I ordered the Supreme du poulet which was not as good. It was a bit dry to be honest. I'd give it no star if I could. The worst restaurant I've been: belittling waiter and un-deveined shrimps. Where should I begin?  When we walked in, it was pretty empty. The waiter indicted the table by the entrance. I asked if we could sit two tables away from it.  "It's reserved." He said curtly. The ensuring limited interactions with him were humiliating ... Unfortunately had a negative experience. We are staying in the area and we're excited about having this place near our hotel. I speak a decent amount of French but am clearly American. I requested a table for 2 (in French), one server told us to wait while he found a table. We witnessed him preparing a table for us when another server saw us, went up to the first server to say something, and then came over to us. The second server told us they wouldn't seat us and to go somewhere else. He said it was because they were fully booked. We sat across the street for dinner and dessert and saw that they had open tables all night. I've been to Paris before and didn't want to believe the stereotype about rudeness towards Americans but unfortunately it may be true here. read more

French Onion Soup, house special foie gras is excellent!!! The server recommended the perfect white wine to pair with foie gras. I should have stopped there but I ordered the Duck confit. So delicious and the potatoes were tasty with a crisp edge. Hubs ordered the Andouille which was good...gamey though. Not for the less daring. The vibe here is fun with the hip younger crowd. However, we arrived really late like 11 pm and as a small family didn't really for the demographic. As nice a the server and ownwr was, it did take a long time to have our order taken. This meal was so much fun and comically spot on for what one imagines as an iconic French meal- from the steak tartare to the leisurely pace of the meal, this was everything we hoped for during our final night in France. The top takeaways: -the glass-enclosed porch makes for a fabulous bistro feel that gives the feel of eating outdoors without the unavoidable cigarette smoke that goes along with it -order the fun and dramatically presented aligot (cheesy potato concoction) as an appetizer for the table - it's like if fondue and mashed potatoes had a baby -Wine by the glass kicks off at four euros per a glass -the prunes and caramel dessert was unique and so darned good. We were literally roughing knees with the people next to us. It didn't bother me much. Lots of people packed in like sardines must mean the food is good! We started with salmon tare tare, and French onion soup. We all had the steak and aligot! Just a tip if you haven't been to Europe, many places enjoy their meat close to raw. Our hotel recommended this restaurant. We didn't have reservations and they were very busy! The manager apologized and said that we could wait for a table that might be 15-20 minutes. We decided to wait at the bar and with his help we selected a bottle of wine (after him letting us try some samples without charge). He came out with the bottle and said our table was ready!! Wow! What a surprise!! The food was incredible and the service was very patient and professional!! This restaurant seems to have great food, when they prepare it right. Our escargot, sea bream and French fries were all outstanding. However, our steak was so overcooked that it would barely even cut. Although we ordered it medium, it was past well done. Unfortunately, our waiter never returned or made eye contact. When a different waiter finally came to ask if we wanted dessert, we explained the steak issue. Rather than offer a new steak or reduce the price, their remedy was to bring us the full bill without another word. Our original waiter wouldn't even look in our direction. On our recent trip to Paris, we sought out this place because we knew they offered aligot, which is the cheesy mashed potatoes that's been trending. Locating the restaurant was very easy as it sits on the corner of an intersection, just a bit off the main touristy area near Notre Dame Cathedral. We were quickly seated, even ordering took a long time, which is typical for Paris. We came around 2 pm and the place wasn't that just, maybe about one third full. Service was very friendly and the waiters spoke English well. As for food, it's not bad but definitely not the best in Paris. The aligot was a bit disappointing because it wasn't as flavorful as we expected. A side order was 5 euros so it's not pricey so try it once if you're curious but it's not something we highly recommend. The onion soup however was very good and flavorful. They also offered stewed escargots, which is a change from the usual ones served in the shells. We still preferred the traditional style but this was unique and worth trying out. Their salad with duck gizzards and foie gras was also quite tasty. Overall, a decent place for a good meal with fair prices in a city known for expensive meals. We would recommend trying this place out but I wouldn't have crazy high expectations. read more

We were given an English menu on arrival. I don't know what have us away as non french speakers. Haha! We at lunch here and I ordered a summer salad. It had watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew (it wasn't exactly a honeydew but close). The mozzarella was very fresh, when you cut into it initially a little bit of milk runs out. The ham on the dish gave a nice salty contrast to the sweet fruit. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back for dinner. We split the rib off beef for 2. It came with a large salad and plate of fries. The rib was cooked to our request, medium- rare. Two sauces came with the dish, one gravy, one bearnaise sauce (egg, butter, and herbs). We could not finish all of the meat! Although the waiter did remark that it was a big bigger rib than what usually comes out. As a person accustomed to American ways of dining I try to adjust my service expectations to how the French eat and not be impatient with long periods of time between the waiter checking in on you. read more

My hotel recommended this restaurant to me for its aligot. And certainly the aligot was lovely - silky, cheesy, everything I've been told to expect from good aligot. However, for as good as the aligot was, the service was 10 times worse. Again, I don't know why restaurants have issues with women dining alone. This restaurant went so far as to actually hide me behind a pillar. I asked for a pint of beer and was given a half. My meal was over before I could attract anyone's attention for a refill and the refill was half head. My waiter buggered off after delivering the main never to be seen again. It's not like the place was full. So for anyone reading this I suggest finding your aligot elsewhere. While good it's not worth being ignored by the staff. read more

Good location, quite friendly staff (the waiter kindly steered me away from a dish - I thought I knew what it was but he, correctly, surmised that I didn't...) Having said that, while the escargot serving was generous (a dozen at a fair price) they were nothing to write home about. And the 'crispy lamb' - actually more reminiscent of a beef Wellington kind of preparation - was tough and tasteless. The best thing about it was the zucchini it was served on. And if you're a single diner and can't do justice to a bottle of decent wine, at all costs avoid the Pinot noir. It reminded me of the bad old days of Ernest and Julio gallon containers of 'Burgundy'. Hmmm - perhaps 3 stars is too generous? read more

I can't vouch for the tartar since i am not a fan of this type of food but my husband thought it was very good. My aligot (mashed potatoes with cheese) was excellent. I would totally recommend this dish but without steak. I asked for medium rare and they made it well done. It was not bad but the steak was average. The service was excellent. Our waiter was really friendly and efficient. We did not wait at all to be seated. We just walked in and we were offered a choice of tables right away. We did not wait long for our food either. Went to visit my sister over the weekend and had a great dinner here.The food were amazing! Everything came out delicious! the escargot, duck confit, oh, the roasted lamb just melts in your mouth! We had a good experience of French dining! There's no rush unlike in the US, we had our dinner for 4hours total, and could've stayed longer but had to leave to go to Eiffel Tower by midnight!
