Dry carnitas taco and burrito since they never give me salsa
    Adrian P.

The food is actually pretty good and fresh but you can't compare to a good Mexican restaurant. It's convenient on my way to work so I come here a lot. I'd rate it a 4 If it wasn't for them always forgetting to put salsa on the side. It should be automatic for any Mexican food. If no salsa, at least a jalapeño or Serrano. I just had a super dry taco since there was no salsa. The bread is okay and their cakes are always good.

Stumbled upon this bakery and cafe yesterday when driving through on the 101. It is super cute on the outside- very inviting. They have a large space indoor for ordering food and dining in. Everyone was very good about mask wearing (Covid). I opted for a chicken taco salad, which was pretty good. The meat had some tough pieces, but everything else was delicious. The red salsa to put on top added a lot of heat, which was great! Parking was super easy right out front. Prices are affordable and the staff were all very nice, plus the bathroom was super clean, which was nice for a stop when on a long drive!

Breakfast for 1. You order up at the counter. The employee at the register received my order but continued talking to another customer over me. I ordered an empanada which is so moist and baked perfectly. I also ordered a pan de huevo, also delicious, and a taco of birria on a corn tortilla. Coffee is fresh but area could be a little cleaner. Large dining area, plenty of room. Picked this place off the map to stop for baked goods and coffee. Bakery did NOT disappoint! Must stop for Mexican bread on my way back home. This placed made me feel as if I were back home eating locally. Worth the 5 minute detour if passing through.

It was really clean and organized. The breakfast burrito was fire. But then I got a Chile cheese tamale and didn't taste the chilie, the cheese was hard, the masa was overwhelming and a bit dry. I would go back here in the area but only for their fresh mex!

Good food. But the service is very very slow. If you're short on time I don't recommend this place.

Horrible food, horrible bread. Prices are way to high for food and the owner is against street vendors. This place is highly overrated.

They went above and beyond anything we could have imagined for our wedding and helped us create the perfect day. We decided to use Jamie as our coordinator and caterer, and boy, was she worth every penny and then some. Jamie helped us every step of the way and recommended awesome vendors for florals, bartending, transportation, photography, music, and rentals. We used everyone she suggested, and every single vendor was incredible. Our venue fell through two weeks before our wedding, and throughout the chaos, Jamie was there to help us find a new venue, keep us so calm, and create the most amazing wedding day despite only having two weeks to re-plan everything. We never would have been able to pull it off without the help of Jamie and Sea Stars! Chef Paul's food was spectacular, and our guests are still raving about it!! Every dish was delicious, from the lamb pops and crab cakes to the fried artichokes and the black cod, squash, and steak main courses. Everything was so so good, and my husband and I wish Chef Paul had a restaurant so we could go eat his food again and again. We could not have asked for a better wedding day. We were able to be stress-free and present with our family and friends, which is mainly due to all the help from Jamie, Chef Paul, and the staff from Sea Stars. We cannot recommend Sea Stars enough, and if we ever need a caterer or help with an event in the area again, we know exactly who we are going to call :)

Her pastries were amazing and some of the best things I've ever eaten. And I definitely saw a guest with 3 lavender creme brulees. They were that good! For our reception Chef Elizabeth Murray led the charge on our dinner buffet. And she knocked it out of the park. Mo and I really wanted quality food but this exceeded both our expectations. She also accommodated our requests very fluidly while still keeping the culinary integrity of the menu. Back to Jamie though who goes above and beyond all expectations and you can see how much love, pride, and joy she has for what she does. The best example of this I think would be that our mis-matched plates that we rented from her each have a special memory for Jamie and she still remembers where she got each of them. This says so much about the type of person Jamie is and how much attention to detail she has. Jamie really did so much for us throughout our whole wedding process and we are so grateful. Mo and I really wish Jamie and all the Sea Stars staff the best and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

I stumbled across a pop-up Casas de Humo BBQ (on Instagram @casasdehumobarbecue) which was going to be featured at a local bar in Monterey called Pearl Hour the night before we were heading down. so we changed our plans and headed to Monterey a day early (Thur 6/17), and man was it worth it. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. Best of the best hands down. the tacos were fresh, the meat melted in your mouth and the salsa was amazing! The brioche bun on the sandwich was fresh; not soggy like other BBQ places serve. On Instagram I saw they make a bbq pork or beef sandwich with a jelly filled donut as the bun called the "Jelly D" which looks ambrosial (check it out yourself on their Instagram. it wasn't on the menu that night so we spotted one of the owners (family run business) and chit-chatted him up and he said they would be featuring the Jelly D Sat 6/19 starting at 12pm at the Joyce Wine Company at 1 E Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel, Ca. so today, we are heading there to dive into the JELLY D and whatever else they have on their menu, because trust me, we are tasting it all! Will update later. Update: the Jelly D was simply Ambrosial (word of the day). We ordered both the brisket jelly D and the pork Jelly D. both were light, flavorful and delicious. Once you pick it up it's hard to put down. The pairing of the Jelly D with Joyce wine company's Gamay Noir wine was perfect match. Casas de Humo Barbecue turned out to be the best adventure of our Monterey weekend getaway that took us to amazing places we may not have ventured without them. Their food was simply amazing and paired well with both places. Cant wait to see where Casas de Humo Barbecue takes us next. We shall see you soon.

I know what you're thinking but I'm the furthest thing from a bridezilla . We are a chill hippie couple who had a wedding in the woods . It was a small wedding . Originally we were thinking 120 people. Cynthia was easy to contact and gave me a quote and the price was great . I put down the deposit and all was well. Later on after rsvps came in I corrected and let her know that it was closer to 80 people . She said she would adjust the price . -awesome ! The day of my wedding came and the caterers pulled up and started cooking . That's when things got bad. There was not enough food . They fed 75% of my guests then Cynthia started drinking Coronas (that she brought herself) and I'm guessing getting tipsy Judd Hong by how she acted later . My husbands relatives were waiting for food after flying from New York for our special day. It took an hour and the caterers kids had eaten a ton on their first trip to the buffet. And yet my guests had not all eaten .After that Cynthia began bad mouthing her ex husband (in front of the kids she had with him) and calling her kids fat! What on earth ?! I was so and stressed out My dad ended up having to go pick up pizza later to feed my guests . It's such a shame because the food is pretty good . I've waited a while to write this review because one of my sisters had a relationship with her son and I didn't want to embarrass or hurt them . Also until now they had no platform for reviews . I can't go on with a clear conscience thinking that someone might make the mistake of having this company Caterer a day as special as their wedding After everything I texted Cynthia "hey I would like to go over how everything went down on my wedding day " (I wanted to ask what happened because I don't know how they ran out of food they supposedly prepared for 120 people and I gave them several months noticeI was sure that she would explain everything and it would be ok . She was so nice and we gave them a massive tip either way bc I wanted to support small businesses . If I had gotten an explanation I would not have posted this review .. but immediately when I asked what happened they blocked my number . I'm so so disappointed in you :( . I wish I had gotten the caterer my sister did for her wedding (I think her name was Renee believe she had worked for the vault and has a solid team and great values ) because she's amazing. I got screwed .
