The restaurant dining room is quaint, comfortable, yet classy in feel. But the best was yet to come. The menu is a small menu which features modern takes on British, Scotch, and locally sourced ingredients- prepared in a creative, French style. Once we placed our orders, we were treated to an amuse bouche of venison terrine- mouth watering and delicious. Then we each ordered Seared sea bass, apple pancake, creme fraiche, avruga caviar, dill oil. The fish was cooked fresh, tender, and the side ingredients had a medley of infectious flavors. For the second course, we each ordered Seared Halibut, fennel puree, scallop and crab squid ink cannelloni, langoustine sauce, samphire, fennel and orange salad. It was the best halibut preparation I've ever had! The presentations were handsome, too! Then we each had the third course. A dessert. I had an artfully deconstructed white chocolate parfait with poached cherries and orange nougat salted almond ice cream. My wife ordered the tonka bean panna cotta, rhubarb sorbet, rhubarb, ginger wine jelly, meringues and honeycomb. Great finish to one of the best dinners I've ever eaten. The wine list by the glass contained choices that perfectly complemented each course. Service was professional yet very friendly and accommodating. Our vacation to the UK was intended as part of our major anniversary. We decided that this evening would be the night to celebrate, in this world-class restaurant.
