My fiancé and I came here on Saturday the 15th of November. We just moved near the area and she was in the mood for some good Mexican food. So, we saw good reviews on this place and tried it. After we left, these positive reviews either meant we came at a bad time or these people never ate at Fat Rosie's, La Mex or even Pepe's. FOOD: The menu is very large. Kind of not organized in my opinion. My fiance ordered a tostada and enchilada. I had the taco, chalupa and burrito. When we left, we both agreed that Taco Bell is so much better. The food was EXTREMELY salty. Her tostada was soggy with no meat on it. My chalupa? Not at all what I expected. Taco Bells chalupas are SO MUCH BETTER. My burrito was not even wrapped at the ends, food will fall out as I bit into it. We had the strawberry margaritas, which were very good and not watered down, so there is that. Service: Our waitress was nice and knew the menu. The only thing that I raised an eyebrow (and its not a big deal) was we asked for another basket of chips and salsa. Which was good! She left, started getting the bar ready and cleaning up. When she saw we were waving her down, we asked about the chips and salsa and she kind of got miffed about it. My husband's favorite place to eat! We call this our regular Wednesday night dinner place, the one night of the week we most often go out. A great experience of Mexican food. Some of the service could be improved. Our favorite staff members are wonderful, a few however have a bit of trouble with their jobs. I have to say that the folks in and near Watseka are fortunate to have easy access to La Potosina. My wife and I stopped there for lunch during a Saturday road trip and were treated to an awfully good meal in a very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated restaurant. From the exterior I wasn't sure if we were walking into a bar or a quick grab-&-go carry out place but once inside it was a nice surprise. A good sized place with comfortable seating, it hasn't been Americanized, which means that the decor is not loaded down with over the top Mexican-related items but just the right amount of appropriate decorations. The food? Excellent, from my wife's Supreme Fajita dish to my Supreme Enchilada meal. Her meal came out HOT, just as it should. The chicken, meat and shrimp were quality items and seasoned nicely, and the onions and green peppers were right on. Yes, it was served with rice, beans and guacamole and couldn't have been better. $13.99. I had the lunch menu order of Supreme Enchiladas. That meant three instead of the usual four, along with the choice of rice or beans and I settled for the rice, which was a smart choice. My one little issue is that I wish the rice had been hot as opposed to barely warm. $7.99. My wife ordered a medium frozen margarita but sort of wished she had ordered the small, or 12 ounce, version. I'm not a drinker of any alcohol but I took a couple of small tastes and we both felt it was pretty good. She paid $8.99 for the medium version. I simply got a Pepsi product to drink and pretty much nursed it through dinner. When our server asked if I'd like another I asked for just half a glass. I found when the check came that free refills are not available. Oh well. Finally, we sampled an order of flan. We hadn't seen dessert on the menu but asked about it. We loved it and should have gotten one for each of us. Our server was a young Latina who was very nice and checked on us occasionally. She help make the lunch a nice experience. The only drawback of this whole thing is that we live 75 miles and 90 minutes away. This could be our one and only visit, though I hope not because this was the best Mexican meal we've had in years and around Chicagoland you can't swing a dead cat without hitting some sort of Mex restaurant. If you haven't been to La Potosina give it a try, it'll sell itself. read more

Went here tonight with my daughter and had a great experience. Was snowin pretty good so it was pretty slow. Our waitress was very prompt and very fast tonight. Always checked on us and kept our drinks full when they were gettin low. Can't say enough on how good the service was. Now the food. Chips and salsa were pretty good but not the best. The guacamole was very good though. My daughter had 2 steak tacos and said they were very good and them both almost. Which is a shocker as she's picky and doesn't eat much to begin with. I have the steak puerto vallarta and it was so good. The steak was really tender and cooked just right. The shrimp it came with was good too. I brought the quesadillas it came with home because it was way too much food lol and I can eat!! Steak had a lot of flavor too btw. Anywho it was very good food and service all the way around. This is a decent Mexican place for lunch. We have come a few times, as it is just a 20 minute drive from my in-law's house in rural Illinois. The service is attentive, and they serve mixed drinks, wine, and beer. The food is pretty good, with a good variety on the menu. The best thing at this restaurant are the hard working people. We like them very much, and they treat their customers with smiles. We go for the El Pastor and the fajita quesadilla for dinner, or maybe something lite (eg, cheese quesadilla) with an adult beverage. Very good! Steak tacos meat was spoiled 2 Times in row called in and ordered for carryout and was told 20 minutes to pick it up and had to wait there because no one even made the order. The steak tacos had to throw away because the meat was spoiled and even had the core of the lettuce as part of the lettuce they put on there. The shrimp tacos were so overcooked the shrimp was hard as a raw carrot. The time in between when my husband and I ate there the food was also overcooked and tasted terrible. We got our drinks 10 minutes after we got our food. When they 1st opened, they were a decent restaurant, now it is rushed and horrible food for what you have to pay for. They even charge a fee to use a debit or credit card. What a rip off!!! Never will go again. My boyfriend and i went here this afternoon he got his usual pollo ranchero and i got steak fajitas. The chips tasted pretty stale, and for the steak to be the star of my plate i spit out quite a bit of fat. I noticed a lot of the staff,sitting on their phones. If you loved school cafeteria food, your going to love this place. My son ordered nachos with cheese and there was not any cheese on the nachos. The waitress said it was on the plate. My chili releno had a price of chili that about quarter inch long. I had to root through the mush meet to find the chili. The mush tasted terrible. I didn't finish my food because the terrible taste. I never leave food in my plate. I left 3/4 of my food. Taco Bell has better quality taste than this place. We spent thirty dollars between two meals and left over half on the table. Go to Tack Bell. Ahhh, where to begin. Nothing was right or good! Ordered off the lunch special, if I wanted a different meat it was $1 extra, the mystery meat I was served was bland and disgusting. The rice was old and flavorless. The chips were reheated and salsa had a hair in it. We were also overcharged. It makes Taco Bell look like a 4* restaurant. Everything about this restaurant is wrong. When walking from the parking lot to the restaurant, the first entryway I approached has a wooden door, with no handle that opens outward. Once I found my way inside, there was nobody to greet or seat me. The interior is a confused mess of tables in a space that looks like it wants to be a banquet facility, but is not quite sure. I had a party of four, with two adults and two children. We were sat at a 4'x4' table, against the front wall, with two chairs next to each other on opposite sides of the table. My children had room for a plate in front of them, while I could only fit half of the plate on the table. The complimentary chips were fair. The complimentary salsa was from a jar. I ordered a Margarita and was told that they can't sell alcohol, even though it is on the menu. I had to pronounce the specials for the waitress. There was an item I had not heard of before called "Pechuga". I asked what it was, and was told it was some kind of steak. Then I was told to look at the menu for the description. It was chicken. When I looked it up later, I found out that pechuga means breast. I ordered the "special" plate which was supposed to consist of a sampling of multiple items. What I received was a plate of hot, salty, greasy mess. One of the items was chile relleno. When I asked the waitress where it was, she pointed to one of the piles of hot, greasy mess. I informed her that it was supposed to be a poblano pepper, stuffed with cheese, breaded and fried. She told me I was wrong, but other people had said the same to her. Other unidentifiable items included a burrito, an enchilada, a tostada, and a tamale that was not fully cooked. When I mentioned that even the rice was an incredibly mushy mess, I was told how great the rice tastes. I ended up taking two or three bites from the mess on my plate and could not stomach any more. The waitresses don't even add up the bill before bringing it to the table. I had to go to the register by the front door to find out the total. Needless to say, I did not pay for my meal. I only paid for my children and fiancé, though I should not have done that either. Even the bathroom is disgusting. This is the sorriest excuse for Mexican Cuisine I have ever encountered. I realize it has only been open for a month or two. But, the best thing they can do is close their doors until they figure out what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. They make Taco Bell look gourmet. read more
