Eats: puqui puqui, bagnet with KBL sauce, pancit, and carrot cake
Takes: This is the go to place for my family to eat authentic Ilocano food. We usually come here to dine and simultaneously conduct meetings. Puqui puqui is an eggplant omelet with bitter melon, tomatoes, and onions. This is one of the dishes that La Preciosa is known for and has been the best one I've eaten so far compared to the version of other restaurants.
My favorite yet "a heart attack waiting to happen" dish is the bagnet. The succulent and fatty slices of pork belly with the Bagoong dipping sauce topped with fresh sliced tomatoes and green options have a nice crunch and simply make your mouth water. The pancit (noodles) were okay. I wouldn't come back just for the pancit.
For dessert, they only offer cakes. Bummer because we were all craving some kind of ice cream (halo halo) to wash down the meal. Their top three cakes are 1) carrot cake 2) Ferraro 3) Mocha Sansrival. I opted for the carrot cake, but after tasting the mocha sansrival, I actually would choose that over the carrot cake. If you're celebrating a birthday, they have a SUPER LOUD birthday song blasting from the speakers when the cake comes out. Trust, the whole restaurant will know it's your birthday!
Wait: Our timing is often right when the restaurant opens so there's usually no wait. However, even at its busiest, customers don't have to wait more than 10 minutes because even though it's sit down, patrons generally come and go.
Service: Hit or miss. Sometimes we need to get the attention of the staff for service (beverage refills, ordering, or requesting for the bill). Although there's so many of them, just by observation, a good number are just standing/waiting.
Price: Reasonable. Dishes are on average in the 200 Philippine peso range while cake slices are about 100 Philippine pesos. We usually order family style so portion wise:price, it's very reasonable per person.
Store: They have a small store on the first floor of the restaurant. This store offers a lot of the local baked goods and coffee. Since it's considered a consignment store, you won't be able to get a discount. I'd recommend picking up your baked goodies before you are seated at the restaurant because by the time you finish your meal, the shelves may be cleared. A lot of people who order and pick up cakes to go or dine at the restaurant also purchase items at the store.
Parking: street parking in the front; additional parking in the back
Bottom line: Go here for your authentic Ilocano food fix!
