This place is in a great location, across from Walmart, a minute or two from H-E-B. But then again, with it being such a small town, everything is in a great location. People and staff are friendly but the accommodations were tolerable! Great breakfast selection: sausage, eggs, crockpot surprise, toast, waffles, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt and more. With it being almost winter, I never bothered to look at the pool. But they have one and I also passed a business center. The room didn't have blankets in the closet so I had to call for one in the middle of the night when I woke up shivering. I tried to use the room phone but it appears to only be a prop phone. I had to use my cellphone to ring the front desk to request a blanket. Thankfully they didn't keep me waiting too long. Not sure how the bathtub got so bad and rusty. But I just kept my feet straddled on the smooth bottom corners of the tub and tried to ignore it and not look down as I took a shower. With Alice, TX being such a small town, this is probably the best option so I might stay here again if I came back here. Don't know if all the rooms have old tubs but I'll know to request blankets ahead of time. read more

Well, where to start...I drove over 17 hours to this La Quinta in Alice, Tx. with my 7-yr old granddaughter and sister. We were there for a family wedding. There were signs at the door that the pool was closed. Checked my email to see if maybe they had sent a notification to give me the opportunity to make other arrangements. Nope. No emails. Keep in mind, I had my granddaughter with me. We weren't just going to stay in the room and do nothing. We were looking forward to the pool. When I told this to the front desk, he said, "Well is the pool blue? If it's blue, it's open." Upon arrival, they couldn't be bothered. Too busy on their cell phones. Finally found my reservation and I asked for three key cards. Set up in room 319. The room was horrible. Moldy, musty smell as soon as we walked in. The hotel phones didn't work. The key cards would work once, and I'd have to get them registered over and over. I finally had enough, went to the front desk and asked if they had given me the worst room they had in the hotel. The keys just stopped working all together. The kid at the desk registered a card to the adjoining room to test the reader, I guess. It worked. He tried all three cards to 319 and not one worked. I just told the kid that we were moving into the adjoining room. I told my sister to start grabbing our stuff and move it next door. Not as musty, but we couldn't open the windows to air it out as there were no screens on them and the mosquitos were huge! Of course, the a/c filters were filthy. He said he would change our rooms and would get our key cards to us. Never did. I ended up going to retrieve them myself. The TV cable? Ha! Would have been better to just have the antenna TV channels. The only news channels were Indian TV news and News Nation. The beds are not comfortable at all with cheap flat pillows. Got a crook in my neck from using them! OMG! The bathrooms! Rusty moldy shower with caulk missing at the seams. You had to hold the handle on the toilet just to flush! The rusty ironing board broke when I tried to iron our outfits for the wedding and the iron leaked all over our clothes. When they came to clean the room, they forgot to leave towels! When we did go to the pool, there was a huge wasp nest at a door. The guy at the desk but said he couldn't do anything about it. I asked for bug spray and I'd do it myself. Nope. We had to watch the nest coming and going. There were missing tiles in the pool. The fence was rusty and flimsy. The handicap contraption was not bolted to the concrete properly. It was leaning. Even the sign at the top of the hotel was being held together with duct tape! I spoke with a couple of oilfield gentlemen there that said they hated staying there when they had to come to Alice. **Not a family friendly place. Beware with going with kids. Your kids might get yelled at by the rude staff** The breakfast staff yelled at our 3 year old child because our daughter accidentally spilled water on the floor. Upon escalating this to the onsite manager, the manager defended her staff saying she wont allow her own child to make a mess. Our daughter was so traumatized by this experience that we immediately decided to leave the hotel and didn't feel comfortable staying there for another minute. Additionally, one needs to be cautious about the hooks attached to the bed frame (photos attached). I got injured in my legs because of that, but I didn't complain to anyone as I should have been more careful. read more

You know it's going to be bad when the best part of the hotel is the chandelier in the lobby. "Abysmal" would be an upgrade for this property. This place is really really bad. Stains on the walls, caked dust on the fixtures, rust in all of the bathroom fixtures. The sink had mold on it, and the toilet was loose from its setting. There was steel wool stuffed in the corners, apparently so that small insects and vermin couldn't get it. I dared not open my mouth in the shower, nor did I brush my teeth with faucet water. The bathroom was just terrible. The only good thing was the AC was quite cold, and that's good, seeing as how heat breeds bacteria, which I'm sure was prevalent in this hotel. You can really tell that the cleaning staff doesn't care at all. I would've gotten a better night's sleep in the front seat of my truck. This hotel should knock itself down and start over. Only saving graces were the cold AC and the friendly front desk. Other than that, a true nightmare of a hotel. read more

Skip this hotel and try the Hampton. For 150 this hotel is nasty. The hotel and the room have very musty smell. The room had damp carpet from leaking bathroom or bathtub very smelly. No remote to the tv had to ask for one to be brought in and programmed. No phone to call front desk. The jacuzzi tub you pay for in the room will only fill with water and leak in the carpet. The jets do not work and they do not let you know upon booking. The bathtub in the bathroom is pitted with rust. Not to mention both room keys did not work upon arrival. The pool is also empty and closed. They don't even have any decor or anything on the walls but a cheap stand up mirror. This hotel is less than be desired. Stay away. read more

The rooms are very dated. The fixtures are rusting due to the moisture level in the room. Even the bathtub was rusted in places. The breakfast offered is minimal. I have stayed in the past and it was very decent. Now the breakfast provided is bare minimum. The parking is hard to get. For the week I stayed, there were trucks from workers (like electrical or plumbing that were working in the area) that were staying on site. The work trucks were large and it took a lot of the parking spaces. If you parked between them you could barely get out of your car. The room did not have a phone. The microwave did not work. We had to move it to the table because the cord would not reach the plug. When we did plug it in, it would not heat up the food. The refrigerator was full of water. The carpets in the hallway were all stained up. The outside of the building looked worn and trashed. Beer cans and trash all over the place. I won't be staying here next time I visit family. I am kinda bummed about it, because my experience before was very good. read more

Yeah, I can't believe I paid that much for this room. Where to start.......Don't know how this hotel got a "very good" rating on hotels.com. The outside of the hotel looks like it needs some deparate maintenance. When you walk in the lobby, you are immediately hit with a mildew smell. Don't know if it is coming from the air vents or what. The hallways seem someone nice. Newer elevator. The room had the same mildew smell. There are huge stains on the couch. The recliner chair has one of it's arm pillows ripped off quite a bit. The bathroom has paint peeling off. There is a big stain mark in the tub. Almost everything in the room looks old and outdated. read more

Update: when we got to the hotel it was very well kept and the room was nice. I didn't have a problem with the room itself nor did I speak with any of the staff. My husband checked us in and checked out, I'm sure it was because he knew I was already upset about the 3 hours that I went back and forth with the staff about our room. We also had breakfast the next morning which was your standard hotel breakfast. I did love the Texas shaped waffles! Will I return? Probably not. I stay at La Quinta often for work because they are a pet friendly chain and I travel with my dogs regularly. This La Quinta is a newer property but it has not been well maintained. At my last stay here in August 2009 the elevater control panel had been smashed in and there were white smudge marks all over the doors. The business center is small with only one computer and the internet service was not working. Also there is no fax machine in the business center so if you need to fax something it has to be given to the front desk staff. The hotel room itself was nice. The bed was comfortable and there was large flat panel tv and a big work station for my computer. The free breakfast is always good especially the make your own waffle station that is a feature at all the La Quinta properties. read more

Rude employees and total creeps as tenants!!! First of all I asked for a room with double queens and wasn't notified until AFTER I pay for the room that it's a sofa pull out... like WHAT? Also just looked at the towels and they have this black gunk on them.. obviously haven't been changed by the maid. Would give zero stars if could. UGH read more

Staff was friendly. Continental breakfast pales in comparison to Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn, just up the street. All of the hotels in Alice are temp homes for work crews. I've stayed at the big three in Alice. There are a few reasons for the low rating. I'm won't stay here again. Sorry LaQuinta. read more

Was pretty nice, especially for La Quinta, but could be maintained a bit better. Most expensive LQ I have every stayed in, but we will chalk that up to the location next to a hospital (my my my, I love helicopters at 3am when I'm on the third floor and paying $160 a night....arg!) Quite expensive for a one night stand. But doesn't bother me as my employer pays the bill. Nice and cozy staff is friendly and helpful. Hospital right behind hotel, Walmart across the street and there's a chili's in walking distance. Also you can see a Pizza Hut from window. Only reason I give 3 stars is it's not well maintained. Bathtubs are relatively falling apart. And hospital hope you don't have to hear it but helicopters at night not good for sleep. read more

This hotel is not worth your buck if you need internet or you looking good for a good nites rest . I had a horrible time and explained to management they did not want to assist therefore I am letting public decide if they want to risk staying here !!! I advise you not to ice machine does not work , hard beds , breakfast was nasty and last I left items in my room ... I called the hotel and they said room was cleaned but no one staying in room asked for my items they said they did not see anything. We ( me and my husband)recently stayed there at LA Quinta at Alice. 3 Star is for safe and clean place and 2 Star is deducted because at about 4 am in morning there was an alarm which made us wake up so early and therefore we had inadequate sleep. When we went downstairs for breakfast there was huge line for waffle and the machine was only one. We escaped those waffles and had very light breakfast.And I think they need to work on breakfast toconsider this place for future. read more

We recently stayed at the LQ in Alice because of a family member being treated at the Alice Regional Hospital. We foudn the property to be new, clean and well managed. It is also very centrally located with a Chili's close by. My kids loved the free breakfast in the morning. Also since its a new hotel they are offering very low rates - my rate was considerable lower than any of the other hotels/motels in Alice. read more

I was in Alice for business and stayed at this La Quinta. I enjoyed my stay and had a peaceful rest at night. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The property looked new and I even got a workout in while I was there. It was pretty much everything I expected a hotel to be. I would stay here again. read more
