The rooms also smelled of mildew or something, I'm assuming that might be due to the air conditioning units but still not a smell I'm accustomed to. Until they get the bug problem under control, I'd suggest staying elsewhere.

I hotwired a hotel, and there isn't a whole lot to choose from, so ended up with this one. The location is a bit tricky to get to, but easy parking, and easy check in. Free Wi Fi, which was nice, but our TV did not work. :( It was so late that I didn't have the energy to call and deal with it, but it was a bummer in the AM when I wanted to catch the news. The A/C was LOUD, which kept me up most of the night, but it did get cold. Everything else was good, decent bath products, lots of towels, and it was super clean. The free breakfast in the Am was actually decent with cereal, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, greek yogurt, juices, coffee, hot tea, Cinnamon roles, and eggs, ect. The gravy I had was cold. Service was good as well, everyone was super friendly, so I would stay here if you are expecting a 3 1/2 star.

There were signs at the door that the pool was closed. Checked my email to see if maybe they had sent a notification to give me the opportunity to make other arrangements. Nope. No emails. Keep in mind, I had my granddaughter with me. We weren't just going to stay in the room and do nothing. We were looking forward to the pool. When I told this to the front desk, he said, "Well is the pool blue? If it's blue, it's open." Upon arrival, they couldn't be bothered. Too busy on their cell phones. Finally found my reservation and I asked for three key cards. Set up in room 319. The room was horrible. Moldy, musty smell as soon as we walked in. The hotel phones didn't work. The key cards would work once, and I'd have to get them registered over and over. I finally had enough, went to the front desk and asked if they had given me the worst room they had in the hotel. The keys just stopped working all together. The kid at the desk registered a card to the adjoining room to test the reader, I guess. It worked. He tried all three cards to 319 and not one worked. I just told the kid that we were moving into the adjoining room. I told my sister to start grabbing our stuff and move it next door. Not as musty, but we couldn't open the windows to air it out as there were no screens on them and the mosquitos were huge! Of course, the a/c filters were filthy. He said he would change our rooms and would get our key cards to us. Never did. I ended up going to retrieve them myself. The TV cable? Ha! Would have been better to just have the antenna TV channels. The only news channels were Indian TV news and News Nation. The beds are not comfortable at all with cheap flat pillows. Got a crook in my neck from using them! OMG! The bathrooms! Rusty moldy shower with caulk missing at the seams. You had to hold the handle on the toilet just to flush! The rusty ironing board broke when I tried to iron our outfits for the wedding and the iron leaked all over our clothes. When they came to clean the room, they forgot to leave towels! When we did go to the pool, there was a huge wasp nest at a door. The guy at the desk but said he couldn't do anything about it. I asked for bug spray and I'd do it myself. Nope. We had to watch the nest coming and going. There were missing tiles in the pool. The fence was rusty and flimsy. The handicap contraption was not bolted to the concrete properly. It was leaning. Even the sign at the top of the hotel was being held together with duct tape! I spoke with a couple of oilfield gentlemen there that said they hated staying there when they had to come to Alice. Terrible selection for continental breakfast.

Upon escalating this to the onsite manager, the manager defended her staff saying she wont allow her own child to make a mess. Our daughter was so traumatized by this experience that we immediately decided to leave the hotel and didn't feel comfortable staying there for another minute. Additionally, one needs to be cautious about the hooks attached to the bed frame (photos attached). I got injured in my legs because of that, but I didn't complain to anyone as I should have been more careful.

Even then after all of that I wasn't going to contact corporate but then was overcharged approximately $10 and contacted the manager and it went downhill from that. I matched his energy and like I stated he was by far the worse problem with this hotel. Maybe corporate will send him to some training. He is a franchise hotel so corporate could not make him refund me.

Management refused to refund my money and only offered us another room. WHAT?! There was no way I was going to be comfortable in another room here. I'm apparently out $300...for now. We go to the front office and they say oh the house keeper made a mistake. We find his belongings in a back room in trash bags. All food and drinks we had in the room in the trash. We come back to the front where the lady working here says we can give you a $10 refund for this small mistake. On top of all this we're informed no tv or wifi due to technical issues. Never going to stay here again definitely shouldn't have came in the first place. Oh and little roach motels in the hotel room...

Their main road sign said "Scottish Inn." They had some teenagers inside who said they lady that works there had already left. Then we called OYO and they could not reach anyone there either. OYO said they were refunding the money. But then I still got a bill for a no show charge? They caused so much trouble to us on our trip. We ended up having to drive to the town of Kingsland to get a room.

I had been driving all night and was exhausted when I stopped at the Bel-Air Motel in Alice, TX. It looked very old and run down but the motel owners only eat people in the movies, right? There were dozens of tiny bugs on the sheets when I pulled back the cover. One was adult and the rest were tiny hatchlings. I was not a biology major but they looked like lice. Long and narrow and ran incredibly fast for their size. I crushed the adult with my finger and it was full of red blood. I now know what the little critters like to eat. The owner was very angry with ME when I requested a refund 3 minutes after checking in. Of course, the owner could not see anything on the sheets. This harrowing experience gave me sufficient adrenaline (and fear of motels) to complete my trip.
