Great product and service for travelers in Spain. I had wonderful 4G reception in virtually all…read morelocations. This included Barcelona, Madrid and Tenerife. Picked up the mobile hotspot easily from the Barcelona Airport and dropped it off just as easily at a mailbox in the Madrid Airport. 6.99€ per day for unlimited internet bandwidth shareable amongst multiple devices is hard to beat. It definitely beats the $10 per day that my carrier charges. Seeing how connected we are these days and how dependent we are on our smartphones for directions, communication & reviews, picking up a mobile hotspot is a no-brainer. I had a great experience with Wifivox.

I will never...ever...ever travel without WiFi again. EVER…read more After my trip to Tokyo, I realized that constantly having a WiFi signal is crucial to the success of my vacations. So when we booked our trip to Barcelona I immediately looked for folks that offered a pocket WiFi. Wifivox seems to be the leader in the industry - and I can see why. It was about €48 euros for 5 days of unlimited internet. ALWAYS had a super strong signal, even when traveling on Metro - and went to Monserrat and Figueres and still had great signal. Used the WiFi to get directions (THIS IS THE BEST), search nearby for recommendations on Yelp (DUH), keep in contact with family, post photos to Facebook to make all my friends jealous (duh), browse the web on long train rides...and everything else you do when you are on WiFi. The top two - getting directions and searching Yelp - are SO crucial to having a good time on vacation - at least for me. On our last day in Spain we had a 24 hour connection in Madrid - with no portable WiFi. We made plans before we left the hotel WiFi and when we arrived to the restaurant it was packed with no tables. AH, no worries, I'll just check for another restaurant. Oh wait...I can't. We ended up at a great place by doing the old "Let me peek at the menu and see how packed the places is as a good sign they are legit", but it would of been great to search nearby. Direction were also tough. While Google maps is viewable, it's so much better to have it live and it's telling you the direction you are traveling in (as to avoid going the wrong way a few blocks, till you catch your mistake) or having it map the fastest/easiest route for you. The batteries lasted us a long time - and we were able to charge it on the go when we needed to. The device and charger are super lightweight and easy to carry around. The process of getting/returning the device is super easy. You rent it online and can have have it delivered to your hotel. Pick it up at check in - and then send it back with a prepaid envelope at the end of your trip. That's it! Do it next time you are traveling abroad - I know I always will.

New to the area, we went in search of a replacement hanging lamp for the old clunker in our flat…read more.. and we found THIS place. This family-run business has been in the same location for 43 years. It seemed pretty small inside, with a scattered array of lamps and lighting products, with some home decor items thrown in, but... what they really have is SERVICE. We were greeted warmly and listened to carefully - despite our struggles with the language. After explaining about our lamp (and a defunct fixture in the bathroom), the owner suggested that first we have an electrician look it over, and plan from there. She suggested one that they'd worked with for years, and assured us we wouldn't be beholden to them if we chose to buy our lamps elsewhere. He was prompt and very efficient; he listened to our needs, made a few helpful suggestions, and pretty much won us over as our "new" electrician. ...but back to the lighting store... They were quick to order everything we needed, but they didn't charge us until the merchandise came in. TOTALLY DIFFERENT from some small shops in the States! While we were at it, we also decided to change out all of the ceiling lights in our apartment. Electric bills can be high here in Barcelona, and all of our lights are halogen - so we opted to replace them with warm colored LEDs. The owners were quick to pass on their quantity discount for what we bought. Oh, and the hanging lamp we were going to buy? We were still undecided between three different ones. Judith (one of the owners) suggested we wait until our rug and wall art got here before deciding - and then she would bring over our top three choices so we could evaluate them in situ, for the clearest choice. How many places would do that? Suffice to say, they've earned our loyalty.
