We were there in the summer with nice weather and all the tables were outside, I do not know if the set-up will change in the winter. The back patio is especially nice to eat in. Service was very good and attentive, you need to go and pay inside at the cashier, which means you will certainly end up buy a few products in the shop inside. In the shop, mostly imported organic products which I found too pricey, but they also have some gems, such as homemade almond milk, a large bottle for less than 3,000, and it is delicious. The peanut butter was also pretty good, although the consistency was a bit hard for my taste.

On the main street of Francisco Bilbao, Emporio Orgánico & Natural is slightly hidden in the inside of a large lot. You might walk right past it, but turn around as you don't want to miss what they have to offer. Although you can order your products and get them delivered, the fun part about this small shop, is to be able to see the variety they have - you might not even know something exists that you *needed* These owners are very eco-conscience and try and educate their visitors and clients about sustainability when they can. They also promote other workshops and organic movements. Emporio Organico & Natural has some great organic delicacies such as organic raw cocoa butter and powder (!!), food grade oils such as almond oil, apple cider vinegar, any type of butter you could think of (cashew, peanut, almond, pecan...), rare spices, ah the list goes on! Another important thing to mention is that their prices are somewhat expensive so it is good to buy your essentials that you can find anywhere else. Tip: Bring your own reusable bag when coming here! Not all of their products are organic, so make sure you ask which ones are (if it doesn't say on the box).

I was walking to a meeting when I stumbled upon Say Green! Say Green! is a cute and tiny store in…read morethe otherwise residential street of Argomedo. I was early to my meeting, so I decided to take a look inside. This store is very hip with chalk boards outside of their offers, warm lightening and bright colors to entice you to come in and buy. Plus, the owner is super nice and eager to help you pick the right products for your specific needs such as lactose alternatives, gluten-free options, kosher products etc. The best thing is they offer a wide variety of gluten-free products such as cookies, pastas, breads, crackers - even flour alternatives! Between the owner and large variety of products, it was hard not to buy from them. Although I didn't need anything, I bought some caffeine-free, organic and eco-friendly tea. I am drinking it now while writing and am super happy to have come across this new (they are about to celebrate their first birthday) organic store. PS. I just went onto their site and it looks like they have a couple of promotions. Right across from the municipalidad, local farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs come together every Wednesday and Saturday to present their products to the community in La Reina. A friend of mine who sells a variety of organic products recommended I come to this feria as everyone who is anyone in the Chilean organic circle has a stand. I recommend checking out the stall of Earth Friendly where you can find just about any cleaning product you need for your house (buh-bye toxic chemicals!) as well as Renato Gatica (I believe it is stand #34) they have amazing free range eggs for better than supermarket prices! They also have fairly cheap dried tomatos (hard to come by), great cereals, fresh produce, organic cafe and a lot more! There are also community garden spaces in the the same location, if you want to grow your own organic produce and don't have a garden. Plus a lot of the same people in the stalls offer classes & supplies...all you might need to participate! Tip: It is super important you look at the ingredients on some products. A lot of "all natural" products are made with a base that isn't...so make sure to ask! Bring cash!

Their mission is to bring awareness of organic and sustainable practices to Chile and create an engaged community. They focus on helping their community find organic products as well as help the farmers with knowledge on maintaining their practices efficient and up-to-date. They are basically a co-op and it is amazing!! The knowledge the community has of the organic products in Chile really makes you feel comfortable with buying from them as you know they are offering you the best local as well as organic products that promote sustainability in Chile (they were at the forefronts of the fights against monsanto in Chile). A fresh batch of products comes in both Tuesday and Friday of every week, so I recommend going then as you will get the best pick. Tierra Viva have more than just fruits and veggies but honey, jams, grains, yogurt and cheeses - all organic and local! They also have homemade ketchup (a must try!) and organic coffee. yum! Instead of going to the Vega, make a trip here. Although a bit more expensive, it is worth it!

When my mom was visiting, I wanted to make sure I had everything for her to make her feel at home so I went to Planta Maestra and picked up her favorite brand of Almond milk and although it was a bit more expensive than in the states (it cost 4 mil) I was very happy to know I had the option of getting it here. Planta Maestra has a couple of other stores in Santiago, but I have seen this one in Bellas Artes, although smaller, has better prices (however, in general, the majority of what they sell is on the expensive side). They also have dried cranberries that are sugar and preservative free! The products they sell are from the same well-known organic and vegan brands you can find in the states. Planta Maestra also sells beauty products and stuff to make baby food! If you are looking for essential oils to make your own lotions or shampoos you can find them here - including tea tree oil. If you need any types of teas, yogurt, coconut water, almond flour etc they have it. They also sell tasty desserts and cookies that are vegan and gluten free! Everything here is delicious. They also have a frozen section with tofu and other snacks. Overall, a small organic and vegan shop to get even the most difficult to find products to make a healthy lifestyle easy in this polluted city.
