I know, arg! but there are apps for that now, so this wasn't as annoying as I initially thought) it's relatively quick to get an appointment (like a couple weeks, nothing insane. In our case we lucked into a cancellation and were seen within days, which after months of mounting crisis was enough to make us both cry. I digress.) The space is big and bright and kid friendly, with a super clean climbing area surrounded by windows and nice, easy to keep clean toys, and children's animation playing on a couple of tv screens. You might come in feeling scared about whatever your child is going through, but the vibe from the decor, to the pros at reception, to the nurses and finally the wonderful doctors all combine to make you feel like you've arrived at a place where you will get the support you need and in time things will be alright. We got allergy testing from our first meeting with the infant allergist and had answers within minutes about what our kiddo was going through, and we've been back on a regular schedule since to keep helping her along. Our dermatologist was a similar level of awesome - she and her team dispelled a ton of internet myths about what was going on with the kid's eczema, told us the very latest in research and recommendations that actually completely contradicted what we'd been told by other doctors, changed up our prescriptions and by the time we want back for our next follow up it was like night and day. Our kid is healthy and happy and we couldn't be more grateful. And I have to say, we are endlessly weepy grateful to live in a country with Medicare for All. The right to health care was fought for, and we have to keep fighting for that right today against people who would like to make more profit from other's misery, but we have it. It's a right and it saves lives and makes the world a better place. As our little family enters into this holiday season without suffocating under the debt of all the time we spent in hospitals and doctors offices this year I am humbled by the beauty of our system. Yelp may be a weird place to say that but hey why not, here's all the stars.

This review is for the first visit for my 5 week old daughter (my Yelper protege!)…read more The place was easy to find and checking in is pretty straight forward with my child being weighed (with clothes on?). Odd. Then we sat down and waited over an hour. Really? Once again the public system fails to provide clients appropriate respect to appointments that left me fuming as we waited "patiently" along with many other parents with dozens of noisy children waiting their turn to meet with their pediatrician. As one who's not done the whole public waiting thing for the last decade (I always went to private clinics - time is money - sorry), this allowed me to discuss matters with my wife if we want to endure extra costs to going private in future visits. Finally we got called in and our doctor (Mme. Chevalier) impressed me by firstly being apologetic for the long wait and saying "Your time is just as important". Nice. She then took care with my daughter and answered all our questions and provided exceptional service. We couldn't have asked for more. It's hard giving this place 3 stars when given a 5 star treatment by the doctor and we have another appointment this week to see if I can adjust that. One thing is for sure, waiting over an hour for a scheduled visit is unacceptable regardless of reason. We have children with us, this is very inconvenient. Doctors with schedules shouldn't be taking clients when they are clearly completely booked for the day. That task should go to the floating doctor to take on emergencies. There's a reason why everything is on a computer and any competent doctor should be able to take on another doctor's dossier if a child comes in with any minor issues that cannot wait a few days.

The assistant for the U/S didn't seem to be in a very cheery mood but others were very courteous, so I'm just going to assume she just dislikes her job or had a bad day Nothing feels more stressful than medical exams and especially in a hospital setting where you feel like you're being herded to your next test and having to "take a number". Prices are med-high compared to other medical imaging comics, probably because of their downtown location. If you have previous imaging results to show them, be sure to let them know at the reception desk, it'll speed up the process.

I mean, a short version of the rights is posted on every unit, and there are rights booklets laying around, but they need to give one to every new patient. I don't know if they do that now. There were some bad apples there too, like some that lied and said that patients had to take certain meds when they didn't legally have to; there was no court order and the law said they didn't legally have to. The getting-your-file thing has improved a lot though, though one bad-apple doctor at one point denied a patient the right to her file and she ended up grabbing it when no one was looking. There's more. But that's just the negative. The positive is that the staff (most of them) are extremely committed to honoring patients' rights and choices. They're polite and nice and at least 70% of them have a fantastic sense of humor.

Update for Covid times!…read more We end up having to go to the Children's Clinic here a lot. It is always just incredible to me that all the amazing specialist support we get here is free (incredible and also so good and right and fair and true and should be the case everywhere because healthcare is a right... but I digress! ;) We recently went back for mooooore tests, and we were super covid nervous but this place does it right. You cannot walk into the building without one of those laser temperature checks, then you wash hands and you follow lines for in and out. I did notice that no one was enforcing a "one person/family group in the elevator" rule, so that's something they could work on, but once upstairs in the children's clinic chairs were blocked off to keep distance, everyone was of course in masks, and the staff were constantly cleaning every surface. Beyond the covid measures, the staff here are always top notch. Huge love for this team.

As a big supporter of the public system, I'm already not a fan of private or semi-private clinics. Recently, this clinic has taken it to the extreme. With the renovations, it's true that it looks very nice. However, there is little available parking. To deal with this isssue, they've come up with the insulting idea of valet parking. For $5, they'll find a parking spot for your car so you don't miss your appointment. I understand this in downtown Montreal but we're talking about the west island where they could have easily planned for more space. I find it disgusting how money-hungry they are. That being said, the facilities are very nice and include a wide variety of medical professionals and specialists as well as some complimentary medical professionals and a travel clinic. Some services are included with RAMQ and some are not, I would call ahead of time to find out.

During the last year, I had some health issues, and had to use various meds, and every time I went to see them, they made sure I was okay with everything I had to use, that I fully understood the implications, and it didn't bother them that they were spending an hour talking with me about the effects of the meds and why I should or should not use them. They also always answered any question I could have, and would also care to send the meds to my place if I couldn't make it while they were open. They are very understanding and also take the time to contact the physicians or specialists if they fear the prescription is not right. Because they keep a very close follow-up, they can also suggest better meds when they see that the doctor didn't get the whole story of if they judge there could be another med more useful or less of a hassle than what was originally given. They helped me like no other pharmacist ever did, and they deserve to be known for their extraordinary work.
