I visited this restaurant for a group dinner of international attendees. Overall, we thought it was 'average.' The restaurant is divided into a cafe on the main floor with a private seating area on the floor below.
We were greeted by the very pleasant hostess with Prosecco while we mingled.
Thereafter, we were led to the dining area where we were presented with a set menu. This included an appetizer of prawns with bottarga (fish roe) and burratta, followed by a spaghetti dish, with a choice of either beef or pistachio-crusted tuna, and the option of either mirto cheesecake or tiramisu.
There were 3 prawns presented with a flavorful burratta spread. The spaghetti dish was bland with no sauce or additional ingredients, and when I asked my Italian colleagues if this was 'representative' of authentic Italian spaghetti, they said it was likely spaghetti 'from a box.' The tuna crusted with pistachio was presented as a tuna steak, served in slices. Overall, it was flavorful, but overcooked. The dessert I chose was the tiramisu, and there was nothing truly 'authentic' about it. It tasted like a North American interpretation at best.
The service was attentive, although the server could not provide information in English as to the ingredients or components of the meal. It would have been nice, given the number of individuals in attendance who did not speak Italian, to have someone available to translate.
Overall, it was 'pleasant,' although average. To note, I believe we were the only ones dining in the entire restaurant at the time, which may be reflective of its overall reputation. read more
