We received…read morea very friendly and kind welcome when we arrived and were instantly impressed with the beauty and cleanliness of the property. The check-in process went smoothly, we were given information about the local area, then accompanied to our villa. The 3 spacious bedrooms all had en-suite bathrooms which were decorated beautifully and provided sufficient storage space for our clothes and luggage. The living and dining rooms were also very well appointed and comfortable for our group of 6 adults. Though those spaces were not large, we were all able to sit comfortably and enjoy breakfast in the mornings and wine and movies at night. One of my favourite things to do while there was watching the sunrise every morning while relaxing under the Tuscan sun and reading my book, before preparing for a day of exploration. The kitchen, though small, was quite adequate and functional. There was a minor issue with the refrigerator which was quickly resolved after contacting the Front Desk. The view every morning and every evening was nothing short of fantastic! I definitely recommend this property for couples and adult groups. Not so much for young children. You will surely need a vehicle in this area of Tuscany, but don't worry, there are ample parking spots in the covered parking garage and also a few outside. The property is about a 20-minute drive to the local train station, Pontedera Casciana. On our day trip to Rome, we parked at Casciana Terme and took a local train to Florence. From there, we took the high-speed Frecciarosa train to Roma Termini. After a busy day in Rome, we did the trip in reverse and found our vehicle right where we left it earlier that morning, undisturbed at Casciana Terme. Drove back to Borgo alle Vigne to enjoy another night of drinking wine and watching a movie before going to bed. Many thanks to the lovely staff at Borgo alle Vigne for a wonderful, enjoyable, and memorable stay. We wound up here completely by chance. We actually booked a different property months earlier but…read morethat one turned out to be a disaster. In the mad scramble to find alternate accommodation, we came across La Rocca di Montalbino. After checking a few properties online, we started communicating with La Rocca's manager, Nicole. She's the exact kind of person you'd want to deal with when you're having an accommodation crisis on a trip. She replied to our emails fast (at 10pm in Italy, this is no small accomplishment), answered all of our questions, offered helpful advice, and generally soothed our frayed nerves with her professionalism. We also got a great deal on a huge place! Upon arrival, we were very pleased with the property. The grounds were well maintained and very pretty; there are olive trees everywhere, mixed with all manner of flowers, bushes, and shrubs. In the distance there are rolling hills as far as the eye can see. As for the apartment, it was sensational. Our duplex had 3 bedrooms, a living room, a sitting room, a big kitchen, a dining room and 3 bathrooms. We also had a lovely patio area which had a view of the Tuscan countryside. I have to mention their concierge Rabal who was a huge help to us. I've never seen someone go so out of their way to help at a vacation rental. He brought over travel cots for our kids, thoughtfully opened and closed our patio umbrella as weather dictated, set up a bicycle for our kid, helped get our clothes out of a jammed washing machine, and, if you can believe it, brought in some laundry we left outside to dry when it started to rain. Oh yeah, and since it was a last minute reservation, he cleaned the place within an inch of its life first thing in the morning. Check in is normally at 4pm, but Rabal had this place in top form by 10am. Amazing. While the majority of our stay was excellent, there were a few downsides. For example, the internet connection was very spotty. The network was fine early in the morning; but from noon till bedtime, it was soooo slow. Unusably slow in fact, you just couldn't do anything on it. Very aggravating. The other big issue was the mosquitoes. Yeah, it's a rustic Tuscan property, so of course it's going to be buggy. But holy hell, the mosquitoes here are ferocious. If you're at all susceptible to bug bites, forget about sitting outside after 5pm; there are swarms of them and they don't seem to mind bug spray whatsoever. Also, there are no screens on the windows, so you pretty much have to shut everything down in the late afternoon. This part really sucked, especially because the evening winds were so cool and refreshing. Screens for the windows would have been a very smart investment for the owners in my opinion. In the end though, I really enjoyed my time here and would most likely return for another stay. It's just a beautiful spot and a comfortable place to stay, mosquitoes aside.

It was booked through AirBnB and the communication my wife did with owner Nicole was quick, clear and of no issue. Although a bit tough to find (with no GPS) we made it to the Villa in the mid afternoon to be greeted by the property manager Mr. Rabal. He and his wife tend to the grounds/clean the place and are very helpful but also respectful of your privacy and needs while staying there. The benefit of this place is it is very secluded with a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside that is absolutely breathtaking! It really is unbelievable with all the olive trees, vineyard grapes, persimmon trees and the odd plum tree as well as fresh lavender growing on or near the property. Next to us was a German family on one side and a Belgian family on the other side. Then on our second night a group of 12 Danish girls came who were polite and not too loud also. One other highlight of the place is the beautiful pool that overlooks the tuscan countryside. I could spend all day in here overlooking the vast hills and vineyards. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa (one full bathroom that had an upstairs and downstairs which was very clean on arrival and had most of the comfortable amenities needed! I say most, as the place was with no A/C. We knew this when we booked it but we were glad that we only stayed 4 nights as it was quite hot and a bit uncomfortable when sleeping (if you are not used to) with hot nights. I will mention that we were shocked about the number of mosquitos! Who would have thought there would be lots of mosquitos in Tuscany! We were all eaten alive in the day and at night! This was one negative as our place had no screens so it was either doors open to let the place cool down at night or have mosquitos bite you! This was one of the small downsides. The WI-FI was painfully slow. It worked for the first two days early in the morning and late at night but from 8AM -9PM it did not work!!!! Then at day 3 Mr Rabal mentioned they changed the WiFI login and code and someone was going to come with a new password. That person never came that night or the next day so we were without WIFI for 2 days. A word of mention for Nicole the owner: To make it more comfortable why not provide some basics such as salt and pepper, paper towel in the villa to make it more comfortable. Also better WIFI is a must! We really enjoyed our stay and despite the small downsides it sure was a great place! Really quiet and felt like your private Tuscan villa with a few families staying! P.S.- Tenuta Moriano a great winery is only a 5 minute drive from the Villa. Check it out also especially their Tuffesco Cab-Sav 2009 wine!

We did the "Notes of Sangiovese" tour and it was awesome. Thomasio let us into the villa courtyards and garden, as well as showed us the grape press and walked us through the entire wine process. Our favorite part was the cellar - so much history and Thomasio answered all of our many questions with grace and humor. The tasting at the end was superb - would definitely recommend adding on the cheese and meat board! We were not rushed in the slightest and it was lovely to have some private moments to ourselves. When we return to Florence in the future, we hope to visit again.

Asked reception about this and the there is a card that needs to be inserted in a slit to keep the power on. The maids pulled the card when they left and left Us in the dark... No one said a word about this at check in. Unprofessional. Next up I tried to take a shower and found lukewarm water. Disappointing. The shower controls have a safety button to keep one from blasting hot water but even a full tilt the water is just lukewarm. Unprofessional.

The kitchen was quite well-equipped with glassware, cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, fridge/freezer, kettle, pod coffee machine, electric cooktop, microwave, and kettle. I initially located it on a list of the most romantic wine hotels in Tuscany. It is located between the towns of Radda and Castellina. It is a very rural location, a bit of a drive from other amenities, so best to rent car to avoid feeling stranded. The hotel itself is a beautiful gem. It has a rustic, farmhouse feel and is in the surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. There are stunning views everywhere. The rooms are a rustic version of hotel rooms, but really more like bungalows. They are small brick buildings covered in grape vine. Each building appears to have about 2-3 rooms. There is a common area in the courtyard with string lights and small tables which I found to be a relaxing place to read and drink wine in the evenings. There is a very good restaurant and bar on site. They make their own wine and olive oil. The restaurant has a menu that changes nightly depending on the chef and the them of the evening. Much of the produce they use is gown on the property. Breakfast is included in the stay and it is quite the spread, including fresh fruits, pastries, cheese, charcuterie, hot dishes, and more. They always make espresso drinks to order.The bar was mainly a wine bar, and I found it a relaxing way to chat or play games in the evenings. The service both in the restaurant and the hotel was very good. Staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. My most memorable times at Borgo were the first night at dinner when the weather had gotten chilly, and the whole place smelled like fall due to the fireplace in the restaurant, and also the private cooking class we took on our anniversary. I was a bit disappointed that the website advertises a gym, and I found that it had been closed since COVID. Also, it advertises a heated pool, but it is not terribly warm. I think the primary reason I cannot give a 5-star review is because the buildings are covered in grapevine and the windows have no screens (European style) so whenever the windows were open (typically by housekeeping as we decided to keep them closed) tons of bugs would come in...I mean we would open the window for a moment and about 30 bugs would fall inside. They were harmless, something like a ladybug, but they kept coming in and I would find them all over, even in the bed. All in all, I do recommend Borgo di Vescine if you ever find yourself exploring Tuscany. It is a beautiful escape from the everyday. It is a near perfect romantic getaway with stellar service and views.
