Vegetarian paella
Vinh N.

I should have known better than to visit a Spanish restaurant in Berlin a week after visiting Spain but the choice was due to my dining companions. The service here was slow but that is to be expected in Europe in general since most restaurants seem to start cooking after the order without any prep work done beforehand. Our waiter was slow though in refilling our drinks or taking our drink orders. I had a vegetarian paella that was bland and lacking in flavour. Hard to believe that it was 16 euros given the inexpensiveness of the ingredients. Oh well. At least the venue looked good and catered to large groups. I just wish the food was better.

Mokfish Cataplana

Great little restaurant just off the busy sections of town. In a dinner gone array, we made the best of it with help of staff and good spirit. What we ordered: Esporao white wine, dry Tapas fried anchovies boquerones Mokfish Cataplana The atmosphere of the place is definitely laid back and chill. You should budget st least 2+ hours for a dinner there. You don't want to rush and it is not a place you would like to do that either. The staff is very patient and friendly. We had the dish and wine as a recommendation and they left us the time to discuss the options. We got complimentary baguette style bread with aioli which was absolutely amazing, we had to slow down in order to not overeat. The wine was on spot and we had it almost all done by the time the main arrived. Unfortunately that took a little longer but like I said this is laid back and not for the rushed type. The anchovies were absolutely great. They were spot on, crispy without being dry and served with just a lemon to squeeze over everything. The main was a little disappointing. While all was good, it just was not great. We essentially got soup which we didn't expect. The fish however was great quality and so were all the other ingredients. I think our expectations and what we got just didn't align in this one. The price was okay, maybe a little high. We had a 35 EUR wine and paid a little over 75 EUR. So, it was okay, but since we shared on main, I feel this was on the higher end. All in all, I would say bring time and stick to the Tapas and you and your company are in for a great dinner experience! For us, we miscalculated our time and had to rush out after the main to make it to the classic concert we had bought tickets for the previous day. So, we just couldn't lavish in the atmosphere and take time with everything. Also, I planned on proposing to my girlfriend/dinnerpartner that night so I was kind of antsy I would say. But that's not the restaurant's fault. Also, she said yes!!!

Great sea food! Totally recommend it!

Best Spanish sea food ever! Great taste, perfect seasoned. Garlic, olive oil and lemon...what else?

Bread with great aioli, rich buttery sweet white wine and extremely enjoyable Sangria.

After a full day of sightseeing found this great little place to sit and relax. The Sangria was amazing! White wine recommendation was rich buttery flavor and slightly sweet. Perfect pairing with the tapas. Great service and staff was extremely attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy the peaceful street cafe.

I went for dinner on the recommendation of a friend who knows how much I like seafood. And I have to say that the seafood here is not too bad, with a huge Spanish influence but they still managed to convey a Portugese flavour to their dishes (mainly by the judicious use of some extra paprika and various dried herbs). The krake (octopus) was quite good, to the point where we stole a krake galicia accidentally from someone else and had to hurriedly re-order it again. The rest of the fish was well-cooked and tasty and one cannot complain at all. It is not quite and will never be the standard of Fischer Fritz, but for the price, it was really very tolerable. What was also a pleasant surprise was the table wine, which was not overpowering or contentious and quite drinkable and very good value at 13 Euro a litre! I had 2 litres before I noticed anything wrong but by then it was, as usual, too late. Oh well. The atmosphere is also quite authentic, done up like a fishing village's taverna, so overall, it is a reasonably-priced place to take your friends for fresh fish.

High prices for not so special food. Waiters are busier with watching tv than giving good service.

The menus are in both German…read moreand English and every server speaks English, they were also very helpful navigating the menu. Must haves are the Farmers ham with grated horseradish and pickles as an appetizer. The pumpkin soup was amazing with a hint of curry and the main course was the Wiener schnitzel was the star of the experience. The accompanying potato salad was incredibly delicious as well. Overall a great Austrian dining experience, I highly recommend eating here.

4.5 stars! Ottenthal was one of the restaurants I discovered while in Berlin. In particular, what…read morecaught my attention was the fact that it offered, by far, the best schnitzel in Berlin! So, given I was in Germany..and even though I never really dream of eating schnitzel days and nights, I had to stop by this place! I particularly liked that the restaurant offered pretty much very natural/no chemicals food. Everything was fresh and, shall I say, natural/organic...and they were committed to those types of ingredients. I also liked that despite a higher price point than most restaurants in Berlin, the staff were polite, friendly and relatable..and not a stucked up place at all! Now, when it came to the food, I loved all my dishes! The pumpkin soup was so fresh and Devine! The schnitzel..wow..shall I say, crisp and thin..and not oily at all! Eating it together with the side potato salad that was a lil sour and sweet made it a good combination without additional condiments for sure! Lastly, the Baumkuchen was wonderful! I had so much food that night that I ended up having to order Baumkuchen to go..and I was not disappointed at all! Good to try all the good things while in Berlin! Overall, I highly recommend Ottenthal! Sure, as the name suggested, Ottenthal is Austrian town..but hey..schnitzel can also be German! Go try it and you'd taste the differences between this vs other places! Just some minor half star off was due to price (it's slightly high compared to other options out there in Berlin for sure.but hey..tasted sehr gut!!), restrooms are down a set of stairs (pretty common for German restaurants..but I have no ideas how Germany deals with accessibility for disabled population!) and finally..the place is rather small..so make sure to make some reservations so you won't be disappointed if you showed up but couldn't get in!
