As a parent of two girls, LA Sunshine Preschool has meant so much to our family. Our older daughter spent her preschool years with Ms LiLi and Ms Rosemary and is now thriving in first grade in the Mandarin dual language program at Broadway Elementary. The strong foundation she built gave her confidence, curiosity, and a real love of learning. Seeing her succeed now makes us even more grateful for the years she spent there. Our younger daughter is currently at LA Sunshine, and it has been amazing to watch her grow. She has become such a confident little leader in her class, full of creativity and excitement about learning. The teachers really encourage the children to express their ideas, try new things, and support one another. One of the things we appreciate most about the school is the strong focus on social emotional learning and respect. The teachers guide the children in understanding their feelings, resolving conflicts kindly, and caring for each other. It creates such a thoughtful and supportive classroom environment where every child feels valued. Just this past month alone has been filled with wonderful learning experiences. The children raised butterflies from caterpillars, which became an exciting hands on project. They counted the caterpillars, observed the changes each day, wrote about what they saw, and talked about the life cycle in Mandarin and Spanish. When the butterflies finally emerged, the kids were absolutely thrilled. The teachers are so thoughtful about turning everyday moments into learning opportunities. One day the kids discovered an insect under the playground slide, and that moment turned into a whole exploration about insects. They read books, talked about bugs, and shared their observations from outside. There are so many joyful activities that make school special. The children do fun science experiments using things like food coloring, which sparks so much curiosity. They also have Happy Kitchen days where they cook lunch together. The kids love preparing food as a group and it teaches teamwork and independence. We also love the enrichment activities. The music teacher who comes in is fantastic and the kids have so much fun singing and moving together. Soccer is another highlight of the week and the children look forward to it every time. And show and tell every Wednesday is a great way to build the kids' confidence. LA Sunshine Preschool is truly a place where children feel safe, respected, and inspired to learn. They are very encouraging and supportive of all the kids personalities and energy. Our son loves going to school everyday and we love that he has so many friends to play with. We have been part of Ms. Lili and Ms. Rosemary's preschool community for three years with our oldest daughter. She had a wonderful experience and still friends today with many of those classmates. When she transitioned to kindergarten, she was not behind at all and actually well ahead academically. Now our younger daughter is enrolled, and she loves going to school every day. Ms. Lili and Ms. Rosemary are both very caring and attentive, they genuinely take the time to understand each child. Every time my husband or I pick up, they share little stories and observations from the day. It means so much to hear about those small moments we don't get to see ourselves. We also really appreciate the frequent daily updates via text, helping us feel connected to her school life. The environment itself is wonderful. The kids have access to both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a playground, sand pit, hands-on activity and toy stations, reading area, and a playhouse. My review is for the teachers at L.A. Sunshine Preschool and what a wonderful experience we had with our son at a prior school with the same teachers. We were naturally nervous when our son started preschool at 17 months old but the amazing teachers at his school put our minds at ease with their kind and nurturing nature. Knowing the same teachers have opened a new preschool makes us incredibly excited for the families who will get to experience the same love, care, and commitment we did. As first-time parents, it meant everything to us to have teachers who were so kind, patient, and attentive. They truly understand early childhood development and know how to balance structure with play in a way that builds confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. We watched our son grow socially, emotionally, and academically under their care. Their communication was always thoughtful and reassuring--if our son had a difficult time at drop-off, we would get a text and photo(s) immediately after reassuring us that he felt better. We would also receive several photo updates throughout the day via their childcare app so we always had a glimpse into his daily activities. It was clear that they genuinely cared about each child as an individual. The foundation they helped build during those early years has stayed with him--our son has grown into a smart, thoughtful, helpful, funny child who loves socializing with other kids while always showing kindness and respect for others. L.A. Sunshine is such a gift to families in the community. We have visited the new school many times since graduating from his prior school and can attest to it being a lovely, bright, clean and fun environment where children can be supported and thrive. For years our daughter has been taught by the lovely Ms. Lili and Ms. Rosemary. We've loved the safe and family feeling at the school. Our daughter has made a lot of great friends and learned a lot in a short time. She's excellent at counting and different languages (they teach Spanish and Mandarin) and we owe that to the staff. We also feel that the social skills and emotional development that she's being taught at school are far beyond what we expected as well. They also have been helping us with potty training (which can be challenging). Cannot recommend them enough! read more

This review is about the teachers of LA Sunshine preschool, Miss LiLi and Miss Rosemary. The teachers at this preschool are truly exceptional and deeply dedicated to their students. The TLDR of my review is that this truly is an amazing preschool and we are so lucky to have both of our kids there. What sets this preschool apart is the care and empathy from the teachers. Both of our boys are incredibly happy there and are developing incredibly well because of the teachers' care, attention, and love. I would strongly recommend this school to any parents, even if they're not interested in the language (Chinese Mandarin and Spanish) component of the school. -- Teachers: What really sets this school apart is the care of the teachers. The teachers really think about and care about the children. My wife and I really feel that the teachers are a 3rd parent for us, which is a high bar. We sent both of our kids to this daycare at a young age (under 2), and they were the youngest at the time of entry. From minute one I could tell that teachers were giving that attention he needed. Even as my kid got older, the care and attention was still deep and nuanced. At pickup, the teachers would be able to not only tell me what happened on the day, but also how she's seeing his behavior change, what she would recommend at home, how this compares to her expectations, etc. And this is not necessarily from an educational aspect, but from a social development perspective -- which I personally think is more important for children in preschool. She knew my child so well, and I would ask her about tips to employ at home to help him and she was very knowledgeable and patient answering all my questions to teach me. My child has always been a rambunctious one with his own opinions and not the most obedient - so getting advice from the teachers has been incredibly helpful. On the topic of care and attention, the teachers are super careful of my child's specific dietary needs (gluten tolerance) and even knows of my child's after school activities and helps him prepare for them (get changed, reminds him, etc.). As I said, she's basically our 3rd parent. I think the picture is clear here. Social Learning: The teachers spend a lot of time focusing on social behavior and learning - and as I mentioned above I think this is more important than "educational" learning at this age. The teachers do a great job helping the children resolve conflict when they fight, how to manage their tantrums/emotions, how to share, etc. These are critical skills and behaviors to learn at this age. And the teachers don't just "let things slide" if they're busy -- they take the time to kneel down, talk to them eye to eye, and spend the time explaining the proper behavior and sticking to it. It's clear they believe this is important and believe in raising good children to be good humans - as if these were their own children. Do I need to say more here? Educational Learning: Other than social, they spend a lot of time doing hands on activities. Whether it's arts and crafts, cooking, music class, animals and bugs education, tracing shapes, learning numbers and alphabet, days of the week -- it's all there. It's a comprehensive well rounded approach - rather than an intensely numbers, alphabet, and math based curriculum. The kids have fun doing it and are engaged, because the teachers also really enjoy it. Activities: The school has indoor and outdoor play areas. The outdoor play area has swings, slide, turf open area, sand box -- all the essentials you'd need. The indoor has plenty of toys, learning materials on the wall, open space for circle time -- again all the essentials. There's also lots of time for "open play" which I think is great to allow the kids to be creative in how they play -- this again allows for social development between the children. I've found that my child does very well in public play spaces and is good at taking turns, sharing, be careful of personal space, etc. because of this learning in this preschool. On top of this, the school also brings in external teachers - for example they have a music guy come in play songs and shows instruments with to them and my kids love dancing. They also have a soccer coach and many others. Community: This is also an area I think it's really worth calling out. The teachers do a great job of building community with the parent families. This is not something that I was "looking" for specifically when searching for preschools but something I value incredibly now. The school is very "open" to the parents - as in parents oftentimes stay after drop off to play with the kids and talk to the teachers - or the same during pickup. The parents all knows each other, and the kids know all the parents and vice versa. The teacher has done a great job selecting the families so that all the parents have similar values and beliefs so all the parents get along very well. My kids have found great friends in this school, but my wife and I have also found great friends in the parents of the children as well. The community has been very valuable to us.
