Stopped in about an hour before La Taberna del Leon was closing on a Sunday. We were seated and then advised the kitchen would be closing so they asked that we ordered everything at once. While as you can imagine we felt rushed we did manage to get our orders in and settled then the magic happened. They made one of the most delicious mango margaritas I've had. It was flavorful with a sugarless subtlety and a tahine rimmed glass for a perfect balance. I had an apple and walnut salad that to my pleasant surprise came with a toasted piece of bread with cheese and a honey drizzle. I had the pork chop that was served with a fluffy butternut squash mash and a wine reduction glaze that I'm still thinking about. Other mains were the filet with foie gras and mashed potatoes. It was a table favorite. The seabass and a shrimp dish with a lovely sauce. Dessert was Pavlova x 2. I'm not usually a fan but that's what the take ordered and that's what the table devoured. Old style service with excellent service and great food. Had shrimp pozole, it was fenomenal. Had it late in the evening and was able to sleep well. Great balance of flavor ands pieces. The following week, went for a second visit. I had the pork chop with brusell sprouts and a terrific sauce of pepper and mustards. Combination of flavors was terrific.?Unfortunately, the chop was overcooked to the point of rubbery texture and dry as a piece of meat can be. The breads are off this world! read more
